I am a bit surprised that no family photos were presented to us. Not even a school yearbook photo. No relevant photos accompanying the various life's moments outlined in this story.
As dominant and nasty a player as there was. The pairing with Howie Long, Ted Hendricks and Bill Pickel was unbeatable. His life ending was very sad, but he approached it with a certain honesty and grace.
I can't think of anyone who represents what the Raiders were back in the day. Lyle was meant to be a Raider. I also have to mention Jack Tatum as well because he was just as violent.
That's a good question because lots of people have achieved lots of things while on some kind of drug along their journey of achievement. As long as it gives them a positive performance no one seems to care. Everyone has taken some kind of drug to help them through life. It could be aspirin for a headache or caffeine to get awake to steroids for inflammation or sleep aids. It's a matter of balance from the individual. Steroids have a bad reputation because of the abuser. If steroids are taken correctly in a cycle they're fine but people abuse them. No one seems to care when it helps them sack quarterbacks along their journey to success and everyone in that locker room knows that they're using. There are a lot of people taking some kind of aid to help them cope with life and no one ever knows but their inner circle because they balance it. You can eat a big Mac once a week and you'll be fine but eat one every day and see what happens.
Alzado sucked, he was barely a Raider to me, more a Bronco. Overrated player IMO. I'll take Sistrunk, Matuszak, and Art Thoms over Alzado on the Raiders defensive line any day.
Not a Raider? Ask Al Davis. AL loved him. I guess old man Willie wasn't a Raider either? Because we got him from the donkeys too. Not to mention Hendricks, Plunkett, and Tuz. Get real.
Nah, I never liked the guy. He was a walking CTE freak that couldn't fit in. Nothing but a shooting star that flamed out. Just my opinion, another Richie Incognito.

Alzado was a monster on the field. I saw him play in LA many times. It was so sad to see him deteriorate
in his final years. RIP
And the perfect man to ever wear a Raiders uniform!
True Raiders legend
R.I.P Lyle
I'd love to have met this man.
Lyle played when real men played the game. Today there are so many sissy rules the NFL will be playing flag football real soon.
🥃👴🏻 ITS TAYLOR SWIFT FAULT .

I was fortunate enough to see him play in One of the first overseas pre season games back in 86 at Wembley Stadium in London versus the Saints
Lyle Alzado ruined with drug abuse.

If the Raiders move to Milwaukee next you won't have enough characters available in your channel name!
Lyle A

When it is all achieved by taking copious amounts of drugs, should they really be getting any recognition or praise?!

Were the dangers of steroid use recognized back then?
🥃👴🏻 NO BUT TAYLOR SWIFT WAS.
Can you imagine Lyle Alzado and Jack Tatum on the SAME TEAM?
Yes he was.
Hey Lyle played the game the way I liked to watch it!hey isn't mentioned as much as he should be.i always remind people of how tough he really was
Without steroids Alzado was nothing
