I'm new to the Lectric 3.0 bike and not good with brake adjustments. I watched other videos where they were showing how to adjust the calipers. Watched yours and made adjustments to the brakes like you showed, and worked like a charm when I tested them out. Thanks for the very helpful video!

Very good info for adjusting brakes. My Lectric bike brakes are good since it is a new bike with only 33 miles. The only issue I have the rear brakes squeek a little. I tried using some alcohol and it stopped temporaly but noise came back after a few miles.

So I just got a bee cool explored bike. Had a bunch of trouble because although the calipers were installed at the factory, the cable for the front one was routed incorrectly and was binding up so I couldn’t put the handle bars on cuz there wasn’t enough slack on the cables. On top of that the caliper was attached backwards so no way it would go over the rotor. I got all that resolved but now when I move the bike the brakes are dragging. Bee cool have hydraulic brakes and I only see one nut where you show two. Any ideas on how I can adjust them so they don’t drag or is that normal with brand new bikes?
No they shouldn’t drag. I hate it when bikes come messed up from the factory. Sometimes when that happens they will give you money for the costs of what it cost at the shop for repair since it’s not your fault it shipped that way. In your case it sounds like the pads need to be adjusted inside the caliper. If loosening the cable doesn’t stop the pads from dragging then it probably requires a pad adjustment. Sometimes it’s better to take it to a shop when it gets complicated. I did the same for my cable replacement.
What's up Frankie. Great video brother. Quick question for you: I just changed the brake pads on my rear tire because I felt like the brakes were sticking a bit. When I looked at the pads that I removed they weren't as worn as I thought they would be. I still replaced them though. I took the bike out for a spin to try out the new brake pads and although they brake quickly, they make a grinding noise and I still feel them sticking. What kind of adjustment do you think I need to make? Thanks in advance bro

Also for the grinding noise, did you replace the pads with metallic ones? Sometimes it’s worth replacing the rotors as well with better ones that can handle metallic pads.

Sounds like the brakes are adjusted too tightly so it’s rubbing against the rotor. Since the bike is brand new I would contact the manufacture. You can try my steps in my video if you feel comfortable doing so. Good luck!

What happens if you pull it out too far? Mine seem to be as far out as they can go to where I'm not sure if it's safe, and it's only barely catching resistance near the handle (haven't gotten the finger length, maybe about half a finger length)
Once you get to the point to where you know you can’t pull out anymore you have to adjust from the brake caliper. I have other videos on adjusting the brake caliper. Turn the adjuster on the lever so it’s all the way In. Cable will get loose. Then adjust from the caliper end. You will have to physically pull the cable till it’s tight, then you can readjust. If you watch my other brake videos with the caliper adjustment this will make more sense.

It’s possible it may be the calipers. If it were me I would start over and adjust from both the top and by the caliper again. When squeezing the levers you should see the caliper move in freely. When you adjust one cable lever it adjusts one brake caliper. The front and rear have independent cables that's why only one adjusts. This video is for mechanical brakes only, hydraulic is more complex. If the pads are worn to almost metal, time to replace the pads. I have another video on my channel that shows the full brake adjustment if you have to adjust from the caliper which you will have to do once you cant adjust from the handlebar lever anymore.
I have the same calipers hb100, but even if its so tight it doesn’t work at all, I guess I should refresh the oil in it but idk how. Can you help me with it
So tbh, since it’s been a while since I’ve posted this, these brake calipers are a hit and miss. My back one stopped working 6 mo later then the front a few mo later. I replaced the back with the stock one, and ordered a new hydraulic one for the front similar to the one you see on the video and it’s been fine. I think going full hydraulic is the key.
$20 ain’t bad at all for a shop. However once you get confident, you’ll be able to make adjustments while you are out on the road when you need it. Best feeling in the world.
Yes, try loosening from the handle grip part first. If that does not help start to loosen from the adjustment at the caliper. As you loosen it you should see the pads slowly move apart from the rotor.
@@GreatDayForJay If the pads dont loosen when you do that then it may be the caliper itself may need to be adjusted. Take a look to see if one pad is much closer to the rotor as the other.
When you run out of adjustment you can adjust near the brake caliper. Watch my latest video on brake calliopes, it will show you how to start over and readjust.

When you apply the right brake lever look at the rear brake. Is there any movement? If there is you can try adjusting from the rear. If no movement at all from either one your brake caliper may have gone bad.
First E-bike I've seen thats "All Wheel Drive" 😉 Am guessin you've added the front Hub Motor from the looks of things. Just curious as to why or what advantages you've gained . . . unless it's for WoW factor which works too !
Yes, added the front motor along with a 2nd battery and controller/throttle so it’s independent from the main motor. I did it basically because I live in a hilly area. Having the 2nd motor and battery help me climb these hills with ease and get home without having so much range anxiety with just one battery and motor.

I'm upgrading my stock "Logan" 2 piston Hyd brake sys on my new Juiced RipCurrent S to Tektro's HD-E725 4 piston design, so I'm watching every YT vid I can find on the subject first. Not afraid to "dig in" to Bike Repairs/Mods but I like to see what methods work, or don't work for others who've done it before. My first E-bike had Tektro HD-E350 2 piston brakes w/ 180mm rotors. When the first set of Rotors reached their wear limits, I went to 203mm Rotors w/ pretty good results. "Range Anxiety" . . . like it! It says a Lot ! It's one reason I chose the Juiced Brand was because of the Crazy Long Range advertised when I bought my first 750w RCS in 2019. They claimed a 100+ mile range back then but have backed that down to 75+ miles for the New 1000w RCS. Realistically the Actual Range is much less because their advertised ratings are done in PAS level "Eco" (the lowest of 6 PAS setting) with a tailwind on a level paved road/trail. Realistically, most my time is spent in PAS Lvl 2 & 3 w/ minimal time in 5 & 6 for passing or long hills, which puts my Pratical Range around 50+ miles. Even More to the point, I've totaled over 16K miles on my riding app's in 3 riding seasons but have NEVER ridden more than 25 miles in a single outing. Most of my rides are around 23 miles ea. A rating of 40+ miles for an E-bike should be Plenty sufficient for 98% of most folks riding habits. The ride turns into work instead of fun exercise when you try to go beyond 90 min or 24 miles for a given ride imho, unless you've got a Really good fitting seat and even then 30 miles+ would be a challenge. I live on the Washington side of the Columbia River but do the better portion of my riding on the Portland Or side because of the extensive bike friendly trails & roads. When I first started riding E-bikes in 2019, maybe 3 out of 50 bikes on the trails/roads were E-bikes. Last season that number went up to over 20 out of 50 being E-bike's. The market has Exploded along w/ brand options. Personally, I'd advise going w/ an E-bike manufacturer that has a Tech, Parts and a Cust Svc Dept devoted to each, or get a bike that uses Lots of aftermarket components vs proprietary "one off" components. Bikes are Maintenance Hogs and WILL req service soon unless you're Very Diligent w/ preventative maint.
If you keep spinning it out the cable comes out of the part its connected to. Once cant adjust on the handle anymore, you have to also adjust down by the caliper.
Yes it is that easy. This will work as long as There is no damage to the brake cable or caliper this is the way to fine tune. I have another video that shows the full adjustment that you also do on the caliper end.
Yes. I have other videos on brake adjustments showing what to do when you can’t screw it out anymore. Once your at that point to want to start over on the top adjustment and adjust at the caliper. You can physically pull the brake line and then retighten, slowly adjusting the top. In time these cables will stretch.
There's one other adjustment that can be made that you didn't mention. Your video is pretty dark but those calipers look like the VTECH hydraulic calipers. On the VTECH calipers there is one more adjustment that can be made. It requires a 2mm Allen wrench. There is a small Allen screw that seats against the piston that actuates the caliper pistons. Screwing the Allen screw in makes the adjustment of the brake pads tighter/closer to the rotor. Check it out.
Thanks, I didn't realize that. I am going to try doing that to my front caliper since i put in thicker rotors i have to adjust the pads to sit a tad further from the rotors.
@@FrankiesWorld I tried that and it's just messed up my back brake. The brake lever doesn't always return when I release it, and there's a horrible rubbing noise when I ride my bike. Plus the back brake doesn't always work.
@@jaelexlinsey you may have a faulty cable or brake caliper. Happened to mine once and I had to take it to the shop to get the brake cable replaced. Sorry.

First E-bike I've seen thats "All Wheel Drive" 😉 Am guessin you've added the front Hub Motor from the looks of things. Just curious as to why or what advantages you've gained . . . unless it's for WoW factor which works too !
Yes, added the front motor along with a 2nd battery and controller/throttle so it’s independent from the main motor. I did it basically because I live in a hilly area. Having the 2nd motor and battery help me climb these hills with ease and get home without having so much range anxiety with just one battery and motor.

I'm upgrading my stock "Logan" 2 piston Hyd brake sys on my new Juiced RipCurrent S to Tektro's HD-E725 4 piston design, so I'm watching every YT vid I can find on the subject first. Not afraid to "dig in" to Bike Repairs/Mods but I like to see what methods work, or don't work for others who've done it before. My first E-bike had Tektro HD-E350 2 piston brakes w/ 180mm rotors. When the first set of Rotors reached their wear limits, I went to 203mm Rotors w/ pretty good results. "Range Anxiety" . . . like it! It says a Lot ! It's one reason I chose the Juiced Brand was because of the Crazy Long Range advertised when I bought my first 750w RCS in 2019. They claimed a 100+ mile range back then but have backed that down to 75+ miles for the New 1000w RCS. Realistically the Actual Range is much less because their advertised ratings are done in PAS level "Eco" (the lowest of 6 PAS setting) with a tailwind on a level paved road/trail. Realistically, most my time is spent in PAS Lvl 2 & 3 w/ minimal time in 5 & 6 for passing or long hills, which puts my Pratical Range around 50+ miles. Even More to the point, I've totaled over 16K miles on my riding app's in 3 riding seasons but have NEVER ridden more than 25 miles in a single outing. Most of my rides are around 23 miles ea. A rating of 40+ miles for an E-bike should be Plenty sufficient for 98% of most folks riding habits. The ride turns into work instead of fun exercise when you try to go beyond 90 min or 24 miles for a given ride imho, unless you've got a Really good fitting seat and even then 30 miles+ would be a challenge. I live on the Washington side of the Columbia River but do the better portion of my riding on the Portland Or side because of the extensive bike friendly trails & roads. When I first started riding E-bikes in 2019, maybe 3 out of 50 bikes on the trails/roads were E-bikes. Last season that number went up to over 20 out of 50 being E-bike's. The market has Exploded along w/ brand options. Personally, I'd advise going w/ an E-bike manufacturer that has a Tech, Parts and a Cust Svc Dept devoted to each, or get a bike that uses Lots of aftermarket components vs proprietary "one off" components. Bikes are Maintenance Hogs and WILL req service soon unless you're Very Diligent w/ preventative maint.

what if you have to adjust again, does that spinny thing falls off?
If you keep spinning it out the cable comes out of the part its connected to. Once cant adjust on the handle anymore, you have to also adjust down by the caliper.

Yes it is that easy. This will work as long as There is no damage to the brake cable or caliper this is the way to fine tune. I have another video that shows the full adjustment that you also do on the caliper end.

Will that piece screw out at some point?
Yes. I have other videos on brake adjustments showing what to do when you can’t screw it out anymore. Once your at that point to want to start over on the top adjustment and adjust at the caliper. You can physically pull the brake line and then retighten, slowly adjusting the top. In time these cables will stretch.

There's one other adjustment that can be made that you didn't mention. Your video is pretty dark but those calipers look like the VTECH hydraulic calipers. On the VTECH calipers there is one more adjustment that can be made. It requires a 2mm Allen wrench. There is a small Allen screw that seats against the piston that actuates the caliper pistons. Screwing the Allen screw in makes the adjustment of the brake pads tighter/closer to the rotor. Check it out.
Thanks, I didn't realize that. I am going to try doing that to my front caliper since i put in thicker rotors i have to adjust the pads to sit a tad further from the rotors.

What do you do when you've unscrewed as far as it will go?
At that point you do a “reset” screw it back in and then make the adjustments from the caliper side.

@@FrankiesWorld I tried that and it's just messed up my back brake. The brake lever doesn't always return when I release it, and there's a horrible rubbing noise when I ride my bike. Plus the back brake doesn't always work.
@@jaelexlinsey you may have a faulty cable or brake caliper. Happened to mine once and I had to take it to the shop to get the brake cable replaced. Sorry.
What happens when that little adjusting dial is all the way out?
