1:44 I could have sworn that companies pay to have their products featured on the Allure Best of Beauty list, but I just looked it up and the first 5 products they can submit for free and then it’s $195 per product they submit for consideration after that. @@kackie Adding on to my previous comment, I actually think the high fees for additional products is actually there to discourage brands from sending too many things... The editors would probably have way too much to go through and vote on if every single brand sent every single item. And I mean, I think those of us with actual interest in the space know that it's all hugely subjective, anyway (i.e. absolute years of Great Lash propaganda), and for people who don't follow beauty, it gives them a place to start.
As someone who worked in print magazines,I can say that advertising dollars played a huge role in our “top product lists”. For example, if Lauder spent a lot to advertise throughout the year, we were definitely picking some of their flagship products as well as some from their lesser known brands (so it wasn’t so obvious we were promoting them). It is quite the racket!
The editing kackie popping in is the best part of this video! I've watched this probably 3 times now, and I still chuckle at the yelling interjections. 😂

I am not accusing anyone and I don't know if it's a similar system but.. when I was working in the food industry, we had similar awards, and basically we had to pay to be considered. You would actually pay to be able to use their logo and say that you were part of the selected products for the year, and then they would vote. But that means that if the best products of the market weren't interested, they never made it to the selection. And then you end up with winners that are not real winners on the whole market.
Saying Covergirl Clean Fresh lip gloss is the best clear gloss may be the biggest red waving flag saying 'THIS IS PAID PROMOTION' I have ever seen, lol
If I can defend the huda concealer for a hot sec, I have normal to oily skin, but I’m also even paler than Kackie (and neutral cool). The shade range huda offers is great because there’s still a shade or two lighter than me, and shade is my #1 reason for not being able to get along with many concealers. That concealer doesn’t have a fragrance, and actually doesn’t set down very matte at all (aside from my skin type affecting that although that’s certainly part of it), and it sheets out beautifully. I actually didn’t think I’d repurchase after I used it up because I got bored and jaded (it lasted me forever) but recently I’ve been thinking I’ll repurchase because nothing else has wowed me enough to replace the shade match the huda gives me.
Always value hearing your opinion you have recommended so many products that I end up absolutely loving the way you go into such detail on why you love a product I can usually tell if I'm going to love it or not 😊

@Kackie The Dior Rouge lipstick is fantastic - they have a variety of textures- I have a few and love the colors, textures, formula. AND they don’t reek like Prada and YSL (eating perfume is how I describe those).
@kackie : i just tried Danessa and Lisa Eldridge tints and you can see both sitting on my skin because I’m just that dry. for reference, I can’t use Westman sticks either (I have two sitting here!). I have only tried the eyeliner pencils from Victoria Becham(sp?) & they are great for what I use a pencil for which is tightlining my upper & lower lids. I use a dark shade (espresso brown or plum or navy) on my top waterline & a nude or light bronze/warm brown shade in my lower. Sometimes I use a warm dark brown on both. My eyes are super sensitive & cannot handle the UD pencils or any of the drugstore dupes for it. It Cosmetics was budge proof & non irritating & so was Marc Jacobs. It looks so good I almost cried. The perfect shade of warm bronzy brown that makes my grey green hazel eyes really pop.
That Loreal Panorama mascara works like a tubing mascara on me. It is very nice and doesn't clump like some of the other tubing ones. Also, I use the St Tropez face tanner on my neck and chest because I'm so much paler there than face and arms. Its easy to use and subtle.
Ooooooh that ABH brow freeze gel is a bold choice, Allure. And by "bold", I mean "terrible". But, if you're into the dandruff-esque brow vibes, then have at it!

For the Lisa Eldridge win, I think they meant cream lipstick in terms of format not finish. So the cream lipstick is to clarify that the category is not for liquid lipsticks

To answer the question on what makes a brow pencil bad… some of us are oily as hell and the lines we create melt unless they’re robust 😂 also why we use brow pens and need them to be budgeproof ☺️
Oh, yeah. The Yummy skin made the list. Would love to try it but anything that would come close to my shade has been out of stock for a year on their website and all of the sephoras. I've reached out to the brand and they don't even respond. Just keep sending me the promotional emails for the thing that doesn't exist for me to boost my bitterness. At least they kept enough shade ranges in stock to get them on the list. Must be that good. Maybe SOMEDAY I will know.
Burning question: do you think the Danessa Myricks skin tint Is at all similar to the new Patrick Ta foundation? Maybe with just a hair more coverage? I’ve yet to see that compared and it just looks so similar to me. TYSM!!
I’m one of the ones who LOVES the YSL lip oil stick, because it’s so easy to slap on all day on the go and feel so good on my lips, with the caveat that I’m allergic to carnauba wax so like 60% of lip products are off the table for me. Several of these categories had big Arrested Development “…her?” reactions from me. Like, the Fenty concealer? What, is she funny?
I’ve been thinking about getting the Danessa Myricks Balm Powder because right under my eyes gets sweaty when I get hot. The rest of my skin is dry, so I don’t use oil reducing makeup. The balm powder looks really pretty, and I was wondering if it would help my under eyes not sweat which makes my concealer slide around. I have baked and not baked and tried different powders. I’ve even tried the Mally Face Defender setting powder that’s more of a balm consistency. It’s ok, but it’s hard to get the product out to apply it. I like my makeup to look radiant and not matte. Please help. I definitely want to try the About Face liquid eye shadow. I found my Bedroom Brown eyeshadow in Julep Eyeshadow Creme Stick in shade Cocoa Shimmer. It’s gorgeous. I also want to try the Danessa Myricks Skin Tint foundation and am trying to find the right concealer for me.
Let me tell you something about Nars blush. I stumbled upon the Nars Malaysian website. I think I followed a link on a blog. Anyway I could not believe all the blush shades they offered on that site. Hella more than the United States site. Beautiful muted colours that us olive undertones would absolutely love. I don’t understand it at all. Why don’t we have the same shades. I’m confused.
Every one of my 5 Lisa Eldridge Velvet Mattes has broken at the base. That has not happened with any of my 25 other lipsticks. It's a pretty formula, but if it breaks after using it 20 times, it's not worth the money. The Gucci Mattes are my current favorites. ❤
1:55 The beauty blender solid sponge/ brush cleaner is the best one i’ve tried. the it cosmetics one works well but not as well. the real techniques brush cleaners also aren’t as great as the beauty blender. i stock up when it’s on sale
Actually, the Huda concealer is pretty dope. I'm 38, fine lines, dry skin, fair neutral and I get a phenomenal shade match with 2.1N Meringue, it's lightweight but has great coverage and on me it lasts all day. I'm not at all a Huda Beauty consumer, but I'm glad I was open minded enough to give it a try, it's now in my top 3 concealer wise 😄
Not sure what Jesus had to do with makeup, but Kackie's feeling punchy today! I love the contrast between Allie and Kackie. Both enjoyable to listen to but in TOTALLY different ways.😊
I'm here for snark. To be honest, I don't understand the point of a light coverage concealer. If I need to conceal something...I need to conceal something. Good for you if you don't; just wear a skin tint! And girl, same. I'm never buying a non-tubing mascara ever again. Period. Full stop. Never again will I have to scrub mascara off of my eyes.
I have dry skin and I feel like I was the only person on earth that didn't love the Danessa Myricks skin tint it was just too heavy and sat on top of my skin and funny I loved the Fenty foundation haha Ah makeup so personally subjective.
Yep, i bought it last week based on her reviews and I’m way to dry for the danessa to work on me.. i can tell it’s most likely great for some skins. Just got Lisa eldgridge based on her rec and it might also be too dry.. maybe with the right moisturizer. Seems like a great product
I think for me with the Danessa it doesn’t sink in and remains sticky and heavy it may be something to do with the oils in it not absorbing it’s as if I could just rub it and it would all peel off, so hit and miss complexion products and hard on the wallet constantly trying to find something new due to FOMO.
@@kellywatts6227 TY! Any mineral spf 50 or above recs that is DRY DRY DRY skin friendly? Odactie is too thick and rich, josh rosebrook is perfection for me but only spf 30.. haven’t tried bloom effects, RMS, or kinship yet? (And many more). ?

THANK YIU for saying the merit matte lips arent that good. i find them to be that very typical silicone-y matte finish, pretty identical to the f-ing colourpop blur lux lipstick, and with pretty comparable colors too--NOT "special nuanced shades"... the amt of times people claim the merit shades are uniquely nuanced when they can pretty easily be duped by revlon or colourpop or elf, or insisting the elf lip oil shades were "actually" ripping off the merit lip oils... babes its because the colors arent *actually* that special. i really love the merit signature lip in cabo, its my most used lipstick, but. im so tired.
Enjoyed this one!… I have an unrelated question: I’ve been eyeing the Chanel Baume Essentiel for a while. You have influenced me on this one, for sure. I finally got, and am disappointed that the color I chose (SCINTILLEMENT) has teeny tiny, pink glitter particle. I thought I did my due diligence before buying, but obviously didn’t get enough info on this color. No glitter was big part of my decision making. FAIL. I love everything else about it, so far. Do any of these not have glitter? What can you recommend - a different color or a different product entirely?
@@amber2905 Of course I chose the only one w glitter 🤪 Thank you for the info. I will have to get another one. That said, the color is lovely, and I will still use in very specific lighting situations (not sunlight!).
i used to put a lot of stock into what won in each category and was excited to see what came out this year but after looking at all the winners i was like ….. that’s what yall chose? 😬😬😬😬 some of them i thought were good picks but some of them i was really disappointed by. i also feel like they used to pick smaller brands in the past for winners but this year it was so much already established big brands:/
I really really did not enjoy the Neutrogena lip oil. To be fair, it's the only lip oil I've tried (due to allergies) but it was just gloopy and thick feeling, and I get more moisture from just using Aquaphor.
@@Anindeterminateamountofbees thanks for the suggestion ☺️ I have actually tried every primer and method under the sun. I think I’m the ultimate test for an eyeshadow because I have oily and very hooded lids so it’s the oil plus friction I guess 😂
I have bought a ton of Victoria Beckham Beauty products, but I would advise against the lip gloss: my two went rancid in 6 months! I can’t imagine that Kackie’s haven’t gone off either, because she has so much makeup, I doubt she’d use up those glosses in 6 months!
I’m with you Kackie. Merit is soooo not her. Everything I’ve tried is mid at best. I do not understand the hype. Plus I think their lipsticks sort of suck. 🙃
I usually do one mid year and I always do one end of the year. My educational content really popped off during the time I would typically have done my mid year so the end of the year ones are definitely coming!

Burning question: do you think the Danessa Myricks skin tint Is at all similar to the new Patrick Ta foundation? Maybe with just a hair more coverage? I’ve yet to see that compared and it just looks so similar to me. TYSM!!
Not reeeeally the DM has a LOT more coverage and is dewy but the PT is DEWAAYYYYY
@@kackie wow dewier and less coverage than the DM! 🤯 I would never have guessed that thank you so much much!!!!! 💗
Also why I love the Summer Fridays … I wish I could use the Ole Henrickson! But I need to try the Eadem
That was almost my thumbnail I use that gif constantly
UGH!!!!!
A vidéo about tubing mascaras would be so great!! Please choose some that are available also in France 😅😅❤
Every one of my 5 Lisa Eldridge Velvet Mattes has broken at the base. That has not happened with any of my 25 other lipsticks. It's a pretty formula, but if it breaks after using it 20 times, it's not worth the money. The Gucci Mattes are my current favorites. ❤
I wonder if the By Terry Brightneing CC Serum is the original 'bronzing' drops?
Literally laughed out loud. It’s okay to be snarky, you know your stuff!
100% agree on the Victoria Beckham gel eyeliner. I bought the whole set from Bergdorf. No regrets!
These best of allure reminds me of High school most likely too...covergirl lip gloss is that cheerleader you see chain smoking outside a wawa at 2am
🪦🪦🪦
1:55 The beauty blender solid sponge/ brush cleaner is the best one i’ve tried. the it cosmetics one works well but not as well. the real techniques brush cleaners also aren’t as great as the beauty blender. i stock up when it’s on sale
Yep. It's amazing for sponges & brushes & easy to pack on a trip since it's solid & small :)
I have two of the Peripera ink velvets and they are so drying on my lips!! 🥲 When I finally finish them, I definitely want to try the Kulfi.
What a fabulous idea for a video! Thank you!
Not sure what Jesus had to do with makeup, but Kackie's feeling punchy today! I love the contrast between Allie and Kackie. Both enjoyable to listen to but in TOTALLY different ways.😊
Jesus saves. You money.
I love love the Fenty foundation and DM yummy skin ❤
Is Allure a UK based mag? I feel like a lot of these are popular in the UK.
@@bethaustin1884 I’ve been using the Ultra Villette supreme screen hydrating facial skinscreen here in Australia also there’s a brand called Airyday that has a whole range of mineral sunscreens also great under makeup hopefully you can get them where you are. I do plan to try the ones you mentioned also like Rms ect ..Good luck🤞
Please do a lipstick swatch video with nuanced colors
I'm so tired 😂😂😂
I actually do like the nutragina lippy. The formula is great. They could use more shades
I saw a note on another video that the products have to be submitted to be in the running. So maybe they were the best ones submitted?
What shade are you in westman Atlier concealer ?
I can wear 1 and 2, I prefer 2 as a skin tone match!
None of them have glitters besides the one you choose 😊 scintillement used to be 'mermaid glow'
@@amber2905 Of course I chose the only one w glitter 🤪 Thank you for the info. I will have to get another one. That said, the color is lovely, and I will still use in very specific lighting situations (not sunlight!).
@@bsheils1922 it's my favorite one actually! Waited for ages to get my hands on it, but it was always sold out
Milk makeup setting spray is at marshalls now...i bought it last week for 6 bucks
HA
i used to put a lot of stock into what won in each category and was excited to see what came out this year but after looking at all the winners i was like ….. that’s what yall chose? 😬😬😬😬 some of them i thought were good picks but some of them i was really disappointed by. i also feel like they used to pick smaller brands in the past for winners but this year it was so much already established big brands:/
I feel like the Allure Best of Beauty is not dependable at all. They're not looking at all makeup, maybe only what's been submitted.
I really really did not enjoy the Neutrogena lip oil. To be fair, it's the only lip oil I've tried (due to allergies) but it was just gloopy and thick feeling, and I get more moisture from just using Aquaphor.
I live for the shade 😎
You mentioned testing Sarah Creal mascara…does that mean you’re going to do a brand review? I’ve been dying to know your thoughts ❤
Yes! Soon!
Eyeshadow sticks… never managed one that stays put! This includes every one mentioned in this video. I need to use nail shellac 😂
😂😂😂
Try putting some eye primer first and/or some translucent powder on top and it might stay a little better??
@@Anindeterminateamountofbees thanks for the suggestion ☺️ I have actually tried every primer and method under the sun. I think I’m the ultimate test for an eyeshadow because I have oily and very hooded lids so it’s the oil plus friction I guess 😂
You are a treasure and thank you for saving us hundreds of dollars!
That beauty blender primer is so hard to get in Europe!
The CoverGirl gloss is incredible, you're so wrong!
I have 4 tubes I was so surprised
Hahahahahhaa
We need a Kackie's Best of Beauty.
I usually do one mid year and I always do one end of the year. My educational content really popped off during the time I would typically have done my mid year so the end of the year ones are definitely coming!
