First Time Fishing a New Spot, Caught My Biggest Ever!

  • This year I have been exploring new places looking for action in unlikely spots, on this day I snooped around a random beach in NY at first light hoping to find some Albies and sure enough within 5 minutes of fishing I saw what I was hoping for, 2 small albies cruising the beach lip popping on spearing. It wasn't on fire but I ended up catching 4 albies, the last one being my PB at 10.5lbs, the soft plastic seemed to draw more strikes than the epoxy as has been the case for me all season. All my strikes were in 3' of water or less. The first 2 fish were both sightcasted but then the fish stopped showing and got the last 2 on the Blind. Thinking I may have stumbled into a goldmine, but low and behold, each time I came back, I skunked.

That's awesome. Nothing like a new spot with no one around and to nail them. I gotta move closer to the shore. Keep posting 'em. I'm living thru you for the time being.

Thank you Sea-Money for providing me with plenty of entertainment while I'm stuck in bed with the plague that's going around! It's a beautiful, rare overcast day out here in AZ, and I wish I was out fishing, but catching up on your awesome videos I've been slacking on viewing the past few months is a good second.

Here in Hawaii we call them Kawakawa and they never come in this close we have to go at least 50ft of water I'm tripping out watching you catch them this close to shore your a luckiest guy on that day

I haven't seen them that close anywhere I've been and in Florida we catch them in 100's of feet of water jigging sometimes. Must be a ton of fun in foot deep water when theyve only got one way to go!

the answer to the questions a) where is this, it is in new york. b) I have pliers I forget to bring them with me sometimes c) the mortality rate is high on these fish, if I throw it back and it dies it will get eaten by a seal or crabs and thats better than me eating it, because they are not good to eat. these are mainly a bait fish in the south and sport fish in the north, generally considered inedible by most, yes you can eat them and yes they might be good if cared for and cooked just right but I am on a beach fishing for hours, not trying to prep sushi, im just trying to have fun. most fish that end up in your grocery store or dinner plate are killed the exact same way, by suffocating, except on a much larger scale where thousands are killed at a time, and in the process generally hundreds if not thousands more of different species are caught as bycatch and thrown back dead. this includes dolphins, turtles, sharks and even your beloved stingrays. channel your anger to gross overfishing operations like omega protein or poachers who set miles of nets or commercial fishermen who drag miles of illegal dragging zones

Sweeeet..love those type spots & conditions.came through your area a few years back .on a whim started aimlessly cruising& camping up the coast late September -early october.didn't see any or fish any spots like that around that area.put more effort into it & found some great spots & results S & N of where I think you are in this video.didn't know y'all had it like that around there to tell you the truth.that Mr.Skinner feller fishes some nice secluded spots that look similar to that one .some are pebble covered beaches and just as peaceful if not more. That trip was 21 days round trip.got fed up with a job in Charleston SC & after working a 2 minute notice wound up somewhere in Northern Maine.got cold& had some light snow so figured it was time to do a U turn.solo ,totally spontaneous trip .it just happened.had a civic hatchback with a tent ,cooler,a new set up....7.5" M\L,GLoomis 1pc w a small finnor & a few cloths.

But they are beautiful to see you catching them where you are. Beautiful colors on them fish! I noticed that their mouths resembles the small chads. Interesting! Tight lines and safety always! :)
