Not to burst your bubble but if this dropped in: I’m assuming 2019/2020 given your post. It wouldn’t have registered as a blip in the music scene. I first heard about CIM when searching for bands that sound like The Mars Volta. TMV did this sound first after “at the drive in”. Closure in Moscow is certainly a fantastic band but by no means would any label pick them up post 2018/2019/2020. These guys are destined for the trash bin of music. That being said call me a cheese sniffing rat cause I’m gonna gnaw on them for the foreseeable future. I can’t get enough of that groove stuck in my teeth! 😎
@@dyllyputty dylan grow up and listen to better music i'll sit here and listen to this so you don't have to. This is MY Mars Volta rip-off band, loser.
I've never heard anything from this band before. But I can 100% affirm that this is better than anything they already did before. Incredible tune and incredible video.
Man I remember these guys from the Myspace days and when they released Penance and the patience, every song on that album was amazing. When they released First Temple I was a lil turned off at first, the only songs I would listen to was Sweethart and Kissing Cousins but the other songs grew on me and I absolutely love the album now. I'm trying really hard to get into this album, it's just so different. Not bad by any means, it's still great music and the talent in this band is unreal. I do kind of miss the older CiM sound but I respect their choice to keep evolving their music, hopefully I'll get around to liking it. I wish these guys all the best!
I don't know what people mean by the "lack of energy" as from First Temple. It's still there, just redirected. It's a little less Post-hardcore, more Funk, no less energy though. I think it's incredible, and can't wait to hear Pink Lemonade.
This video would be better if they didn't jump the gun on selling it. Extended version on the album is 10x better than the cut made here. Feels too squished together. Give the new album a chance though. You'll find the same Closure in Moscow hiding in there
kudos to this band for not trying to make an album that will be easily accepted!! its a bit harder to get into, but the challenge always pays off after a few listens!!
Just got into this band in the last year and my lord it has changed my life!! I'm so enlightened!! Thank you for being so awesome, I am forever grateful! I hope you dudes have another album coming out soon! Awww Yaaaaazzz
This album drew me to this band, made me purchase their whole discography. Sadly their earlier works are just not my cup of tea. Also the album version is WAAAAYYYY better than this music video version.
I love the first two releases (P&tP, First Temple) like a lot of people do; and this song from the new album is quite simply, killer. If you listen closely to EVERY detail of the song, you will notice how the guitar lines they're creating now are bolder and more mature. This band is meant to play prog music, and "The Church of the Technochrist" is one of the best prog songs i've heard. I'm very glad they are moving FORWARD, and not stagnating artistically. I love how the first two releases sound; however, you can't wear the same t-shirt everyday just because other people say it looks good on you.
This was the first Closure in Moscow song i heard and I'm glad. Going back to the first ep and First Temple, its awesome to see how they got to this song. Best shit i have ever heard :)
Digging this quite a bit more than the single or whatever (if it's even on this album) which dropped a year or two ago. Hoping there's more crazy time changes and start/stop stuff like First Temple as well. It was stuff like that where these guys really shone in my opinion, but this is certainly a good sign.
This sounds fucking phenomenal the first thing I noticed was the bass work. Being a bassist myself it was one of the biggest pull factors to this band with First Temple, and it sounds even more "funky" if you will this time around.
I know this song came out like half a decade ago, and the new album is probably recorded, but let me just say this song is amazing. I love all the allusions to the Holy Mountain, and the fucking funk, fusion, prog rock riffs are cum endusing. I hope you guys make more music like this and Neoprine Byzantine, because they honestly are some of the best songs Ive ever listened to.
Not the same overwhelming intensity as the first albums, but this is by no stretch of the imagination inferior. This is fantastic music, as is the video (loved it). Forget the naysayers. Cannot wait to hear this album!
So this band is supposedly a The Mars Volt rip-off? Bullshit. They’re definitely influenced by them, but there are more moments on this album that have nothing to do with The Mars Volta than moments that sound somewhat like them. These people are like the ones who say Pregnant Whale Pain is an Alice In Chains or Soundgarden rip-off. But hey, it’s their problem, if they want to miss out on the two best bands of our generation just because they feel like they can hear some of their influences, let them do it.
+Ross Hart You're so goddamn right. And I bet 10 years from now when new bands emerge the same people will say 'this is just a Closure in Moscow rip-off' or 'these guys just copy 'Pregnant Whale Pain'. PWP and CiM should tour together though.
+10strongcapsules Haha you're probably right. Yeah a tour like that would ve awesome, but I wouldn't knowwho the opening band should be, PWP is a lot heavier, so it would make sense for them to be the second band, but Closure is more well-known. Both bands are amazing, but I'm not sure they fit.
+10strongcapsules Didn't take 10 years. Already read your comment last year and came back to tell you that I just found a band called "Stolas" and the Closure in Moscow comparisons are all over the comments xD (Well, and Mars Volta comparisons aswell)
1- I admit they do remind me The Mars Volta, the lead singers' voices even sound alike just a bit (though I can definitely tell who's who) - and I have heard a lot others state of the same though never noticed anyone calling CIM a MARS VOLTA rip-off. Pregnant Whale Pain (thfuk with these band names haha) though I might give it a go 3 - I can't say much about them PWP, and as much as I love CIM i'm still new in the are, though I should probably correct you since there ain't no bloody way any band is and will be better than The Dear Hunter. and for the slightest chance of you not yet knowing who they are, which I kinda hope is the case - cos it'd be the only explanation for stating the two best bands and not including TDH - then I'd rush you to check them out. and be sure to write dEAr - EA, not EE... common annoying mistake man
i'll be the first to admit that this song is average but it is not a good representation of both how good the album and the album version of this song is.
Its definitely not the same ill agree with you on that. But, its great to see a band branch out and try something a little different. I personally dont want to have the same sound and style over and over each album. I think they have that same energy and unique sound to them. I find it even more unique and intriguing with this album! I feel this is the type of album that might will not blow many peoples minds off the bat. It will be an album that grows on people.
You're right... A musical critique on transhumanism, that mentions a "Eucharistic SCART card", has no chorus for over a minute, a key change and bridge in 7/8... We were really gunning for those sweet "mainstream" vibes...
closureinmoscow Don't listen to the naysayers. You guys are incredible, and very few bands, let alone mainstream bands, do what you guys do. Can't wait for Pink Lemonade!
Forever pissed that they never really blew up. Absolutely incredible, unique band.
New album on its way out brahski
This album was so ahead of its time man. If they dropped this this year they would've exploded.
Have this album fucking memorized.

Vocals sound like an amazing in between of Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Freddie Mercury.
Dat Freddie Mercury falsetto
sometimes a bit of Georges Michael too
Ugh hard disagree, cant stand Freddie, but I love this. Dont recognize Freddie in this at all

Closure in Moscow is amazing. Love all their music/albums/songs. Keep doing you're thing, guyz.
This video is exactly what I thought it would be, fabulous
This is so much better than their post-hardcore stuff.
I miss the raw energy that First Temple had, but the funk is still incredible.
I don't know what people mean by the "lack of energy" as from First Temple. It's still there, just redirected. It's a little less Post-hardcore, more Funk, no less energy though. I think it's incredible, and can't wait to hear Pink Lemonade.

Got a picture with Chris and saw them tonight in Denver. What a show!
The dance moves Chris lays down at 1.55 remind me so much of Noel Fielding from The Boosh. So funky guys! Gets better with every listen!
He’s dressed like a Noel Fielding character.
