    If we did not go scoreless for almost seven minutes we would not have been outscored. It is very hard to recover from going scoreless for such a long span of time.

      @AnthonyFrancisAndal indeed. That's what unsettled me as well watching the third. We played to UP's liking on defense. Something to draw from this game to make sure we have many options in breaking that down.

      Exactly, the score of the DLSU Green Archers didn't move past 41 points during a certain long time within the 3rd quarter. It was indubitaly worrisome. Furthermore, it's a red alert giving us an early and prompt signal that La Salle will lose if nothing is done ASAP to stop the bleeding.

      I find the respect given by our players such as Michael Phillips to his counterpart opponent, QMB, quite too much. As a consequence, the fire in him to play as Motor Mike, Monster Mike or Gameshark Mike as the vloggers from the other podcast have referred to him becomes weak until it is snuffed out. Just imagine, the Mike Phillips who played against the U.S.T. Growling Tigers during the first round of eliminations will be exactly the same one who'll play in finals game 2, then La Salle will no doubt win even if Kevin Quiambao wouldn't contribute much.
      My point here is Mike Phillips is the heart and soul of the Green Archers. If the heart is slowed down and the soul's spirit is dampened, then the whole body will die soon just like a basketball team will be demoralized, just to give an illustrative analogy. Half of or greater than or even 100% of their chances to win a back-to-back championship crown will be compromised or unrealizable if Mike Phillips' playing moves will be calculated such as what happened in finals game 1 thus rendering him immobile and less productive.
      It's good to admire, compliment and be on awe of your opponent but he ought to strike a balance. In the midst of praising an opponent or a rival, he mustn't subdue, subjugate and forget himself and his own capabilities. Lest he'll stay forever lingering and trapped obscurely under his adversary's shadows. Animo La Salle! 🏹💚🤍

    Hoping that La Salle pulls off another great adjustment in game 2 to force a game 3. This game could've been closer had we not been scoreless for the entirety of 3rd quarter. Not taking anything from UP as they really checked us in the 2nd half which resulted in us making iso plays.
    Still believe that DLSU's best offense comes when it's not KQ centered, but when everyone feeds off from quality assists. KQ at the 4 while Mike plays at the 5.

    • @QuiverPodcastPH
      @QuiverPodcastPH  Месяц назад

      @crodriii exciting how the team will adjust for Game 2. Not seeing a lot of UP adjustments in terms of what worked for them so the riddles are there to be solved. Allowing quiambao and Phillips to play the 4 and 5 can space the floor better for the team to operate in the paint or in the midrange. Let's also see how much more UP can improve on that performance. Going to be a battle once more in Game 2. Surely must-watch.

    One other thing-one of our own said Bayla should have been pursued by DLSU since he’s got many Lasallian influences in his life. Maybe the coaching staff found some weakness in him that made them lose interest? Something else to exploit, perhaps?

    The team needs to be more creative in terms of keeping QMB away from the paint, force him to miss shots from beyond the perimeter. And if he continues to cause problems for Motor Mike at the paint, other guys like Macalalag, KQ and David should drive inside and make higher hook shots that go over QMB’s outstretched arms and hopefully they can score.

    Long comment ahead hehe 😅
    DLSU has been in this situation before, remember last year, losing Game 1 but bounced back and win 2 straight. They just need more players to step up and find the right rotation to solve UP's defensive schemes. Also, they just need to stay composed, their lack of composure fueled their TO count. Set up more plays for Gollena for him to either attack or set up a quality jump shot. Set up also Macalalag and other shooters to gain the confidence for them to shoot. Motor Mike just needs to force to play QMB away from his comfort spots especially at the post. KQ needs to regain his form and adjust on any defense thrown at him. More importantly, they must dictate the pace early on. Rookies must stay composed as well, I know that this is their first Finals (For Ramiro, his first and only since one and done sya) so emotions will be high and I think they should stay calm lang. That Vhoris Tech is just fueled by emotions so I hope he keep his cool lang. I hope KQ will adjust and react on the defense, Kung sino sino ang tinao sa kanya and eventually Bayla is proven to be effective so adjust lang sya and kee it as simple as possible. Quality over highlights lang. Wag parin magpakampante ang UP ha, 3rd straight year na kayong nasa situation na yan. Pag nagchoke parin UP ng 1-0 finals lead, susko ewan ko na lang hehe. But we'll see on Wednesday. Those UP bottle jobs in the last 2 finals are part of the history and the DLSU comeback last year is also part of the history, nangyari na yan and we are on a different story right now, we'll see if history repeates itself or different outcome na. QMB, sana nga maayos na ang eligibility mo para eligible na for Gilas. You'll be a very servicable JMF replacement.

      @pesiganfrancisluisd.1461
      It's' never going to be a good game against the maroons if we keep making turnovers
      The boys should leave it all out in game 2 - there would have to play like there's no tomorrow. Gotta make it tougher for Millora-Brown to get looks down the post.
      Time for everyone else to step up in becoming leaders - like what Mike said after the game it's time to lead through actions.
      Like what we'd like to say, UP better sweep it if they want it so bad. Or else, it's ours.
      QMB would be a good fajardo replacement if he can develop a soft touch in the perimeter. Let's see how he evolves post-UAAP.

    Nagmukha tayong walang plan B, ie, an alternative shooting strategy, pag nakabantay si QMB sa post. I’d love to see how the Archers overcome that. As for the defense on Quentin, I think KQ may have discovered it (ie, the effective way to stop him) a little too late. Nagkaroon tuloy ng confidence. The Archers should take that away from him, also from Bayla and Maimai (sorry, dude). Gawan lang natin ng maraming iterations yung defense na yun. We know may pagka-June Mar si Quentin. As much as I love SMB, sometimes, may lapses din si June Mar. Maybe we can take something from the playbook of the teams that beat JMF’s teams (SMB, Gilas) before? David’s cramping was unfortunate.
