I feel your lessons are exactly what i have been seeking, because i need them. And you don't withhold any info to simply get your followers to enroll or buy from you. Yours is a very sincere imparting of the knowledge to your students. I will practice all these lessons in your videos and join to have my voice assessed in the near future. God Bless you and more power. I would love to see you help more people who wants to sing because it makes them happy.
Update: I used to jut my jaw forward especially on E. Not anymore! I've finally loosened my jaw tension. I used to wonder why great singer's jaws would "wobble" when they sang. Since I started your training, mine spontaneously started doing that "wobble" which perfects the diction and assists the vibrato. Looks good too!
Really wanna thank you for your existence. I reviewed some recordings of myself a few weeks ago and (being overly critical) I have noticed the areas of my voice which have improved since. The recordings were good, but I've gotten better.
@@Victoria-Victorious😳 so... it's NOT professional? There is some tension there. But it's like a controlled resistance to shape the tone. Albeit I do see how it can lock up the jaw if one isn't careful to release it a after the note. If I'm understanding your point, then this is not the right technique to accomplish this? I see many singer's do this so I'm confused.
I noticed how much easier it is to sing this way by accidentally doing it so I looked up if it was correct. This is amazing I cant believe it took me years to know this ingredient of singing. Thankyou!
You are the voice instructor we all need. I woke up recently with what I now think is TMJ dysfunction… and of course, I’m being told to try not to sing while I am having this bout of pain…. But I sing professionally 😭 luckily, I have this whole week off from singing and teaching, but next week I have 3 back to back 3 hour gigs. So I’m here binge watching every jaw tension video I can find and yours are by far the best. Thank you so much for your channel. Sending so much love your way, Victoria!!
I have been singing professionally for 20 years but have always struggled with consistency and avoiding tension (sometimes I’m singing up to 5 sets a day). I never had any vocal coaching or lessons but already you have shown me where I am holding the most tension and how to work on it. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I’m really hoping to get to a new level of healthy singing without stress ❤
I have been binge watching you lately, and working your wisdom and many of your exercises into my everyday routine. I have loved to sing all my life, and have been working more deliberately to improve my singing for the last 3 years or so. I used to see a voice coach, and the first thing she helped me with was my tight, pushed-forward jaw. I have struggled with my tone and vibrato, just never satisfied with “my sound.” Watching this video, I literally cried at 1:09 when you said that correctness position is “down and back, slightly underslung...” I have been drawing my jaw straight down all this time. Your clear and concise description of correct posture made me realize that I have been under-correcting my problem all this time! Since I first watched this video two days ago, my tension, my weak vibrato, and some vowel problems I’ve been working on, have ALL BUT DISAPPEARED. I feel like I have finally reached level ground and can now begin to learn and improve, and I can’t thank you enough!
What a lovely post, Valerie! I'm so happy! You might think of joining my vocal exercise training program where we have monthly classes and you can sing a solo!
@@Victoria-Victorious thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check out your website. I homeschool our kids, and we will be wrapping up our school year the week before Easter, so I may be able to join in for the summer.
Your lessons are exactly what I have been seeking because my vioce very flat when I sing. I needed some exercises to help me. Very grateful to find you on RUclips Thanks a million.
First lesson with my vocal coach was over the phone so she couldnt see me. I had a problem with holding a steady note and didnt know why. Anyways i sang just one sentence and she said "stop flapping your jaw around" I asked her "how do you know im flapping my jaw around you cant see me?" She told me she could just hear it theough the phone LOL And she was right. I was trying to sing how I spoke. The moment i stopped all my pitching problems were fixed. I found that any jaw movement in the middle of a note modulates the tone. Anyways this video is brilliant. Im working my way through to whole series and learning so much. The way uou explain it makes it very clear and you are hysterically funny to boot! Thank you so much!
Oh my gosh I can’t wait to try these out I am genuinely thrilled. Just discovered your technique playlist on releasing tension and I feel that my issues with TMJ and tongue tension will be alleviated significantly with better tongue and jaw posture🤘
I'm not a professional singer but I love this video. I love your matter of fact style. It all makes so much sense. There are so many " professional " singers who make some of the mistakes you mentioned.
Oh never knew that forwarding jaw, which I always do is wrong... I watch this cause my jaw always hurt after singing... Thank you for the wonderful advice and practice! 😍💗🎉 Wish yu the best! 💗🎉
Wonderful and authentic voice trainer and easy steps with formulatic concept.easy to follow and understand. it showed we had seen and heard from the best experience vocal and music teacher.cause she himself is a good singer and performer.she knows exactly what she,s teaching and doing.✌️😂🥰
I wasnt even like, super seriously interested in singing, I just wanted to sing along to my favorite songs better, but this is so fascinating and novel to me i might have to keep learning 😯
I laughed out loud when you were talking about not having teeth... I don't have a tooth in my head. I can't decide if there's a difference in my sound with my dentures in or out. If I'm performing I have to glue them in with Fixodent. Generally, by myself at home I don't wear them. XoXo ❤
Random thought on this... for the cow technique i was doing the less efficient lip chew and i think, for me at least, that it's because i didn't want to hit my teeth together as opposed to tightness. Great video though! i found your channel recently and have been through so many of your videos already
I love your videos, the tips on jaw position have been a revelation! As have breath support, which ive struggled with. I was an over breather, not anymore ❤ You are a legend ❤
Best singing lesson in RUclips ! some teachers say if your larynx is located in higher position above the middle of the neck by birth, you are not suitable for learning singing. do you think so ?
From.7.10 in the video do you say "myam"? I felt the exercise really helped but I just wanna ensure I say it right too. Cause I also feel more easy using breath support with the exercises. I tend to force down my jaw and also my tongue gets tight. I wanna stop forcing down my jaw.
Does this advice alter itself in any way for those with misaligned jaws (e.g. overbite/malocclusion)? Perhaps you've had students with these issues who needed to move their jaw more forward/backward. It'd be interesting to hear if that has ever caused problems with people you've worked with.
At the 8 minute mark, when I slowly open my jaw, it’s popping at the end as open wider. Any tips or recommendations? Thank you so much for all of these videos :)

Be careful of that “wobble”. The jaw should not noticeably shake or wobble. That is jaw tension. I have another video on the jaw coming out on Jan 1.

However some of the greats sing jaw forward like bryan adams etc. and it sounds pretty awesome.
If it works for them, great! However, the forward jaw as a default definitely does not work for most singers.
Thank you so much

It's "naym", but "myam" works too. The main thing is that your jaw stays elastic and free. :)
Brilliant and funny 😄
Thank you!)

Sorry, I have not experienced this in my teaching. I have had singers with TMJ who improved immensely with the exercises, but not misaligned.
At the 8 minute mark, when I slowly open my jaw, it’s popping at the end as open wider. Any tips or recommendations? Thank you so much for all of these videos :)
It’s hard to tell without seeing you, but perhaps you are over-opening. I have lots of other exercises in my playlist on the jaw.
Hi dear
For what time to do this trill.
My general rule is a few minutes each day.
muito bom!
What if your jaw is naturally more forward and you don't have an underbite?
I would say that if it is not causing any extra tension, you are probably fine!
❤️
❤️❤️❤️
My jaw is clicking like crazy as I chew my imaginary grass. What does that mean? 🐄🐃🐂
You may be over-opening the jaw. Try less jaw drop.
Also, your jaw may be coming forward.
😂😂😂 like a chiwawa
