Şakiro is the most well-known dengbej among Kurdish minstrels after Evdalê Zeynikê.
Şakiro (Şakir Deniz), who is known as 'Kewê Ribat' (Rabat Partridge) and 'Şahê Dengbêjan' among Kurds because of her beautiful voice, is one of the students of 'Resoyê Gopala', a master dengbêj. He is also known as 'Şakirê Mezin' or 'Şakirê Bedih'.
His "xulxulandin-hawînî" (making a throat) was one of the most important features seen in very few dengbêj. He was one of the one or two dengbêj recognized not only in the Middle East, but in every parcel and area where Kurds are located.
Şakiro, Gulê Dêran, Şerê Mala Nasir, Eliyê Pûrto, Nêçîrvano, Geliyê Zîlan, Esmer, Kejê and Sebrê have been the most 'Kurdewar' guests of our homes for years, with their hundreds of kalams. The master dengbêj, who left us in Izmir in 1996, in dismay with the Kurds, did not want to speak to my journalist friend Rahmi Batur, who wanted to interview on behalf of the newspaper he was working with in his last moments before his death and explained the reason as follows;
"I am offended with the Kurds. The Kurds do not claim their values, their dengbêj. Look at the Turks , they had an Aşık Veysel , they were protected. They introduced him to the whole world. How can I open my heart? "
Şakiro, who is the uncle of Özcan Deniz , whose name is mentioned mostly with magazine news , had 6 children from his two wives, but the number of those who are still alive is 4 girls in Turkey, and the remaining 3 boys live in Germany
