I really enjoyed the video, but I was surprised that you didn't mention the Assyrians being subject to a genocide alongside the Armenians and the Greeks under Ottoman rule. I gather that this is more of a ancient historical look at them and you mention them at the end of the video, but they are what you would call an endangered people. I also think the fact that they were able to survive genocide at the hands of the Ottomans and then their current situation in which their Homeland is ruled over by hostile ethno-religious groups who systematically oppress and I have brought them to the brink of no longer existing in their Homeland. I think the genocide should at least be mentioned beings it was the first one of the twentieth century and they were among the primary targets and victims. I enjoy and appreciate your videos and keep up the good work! Thank you
@OtherWorlds AllWorlds He doesn't need to apologize, this was clearly done base on Turkish nationalistic sentiment which was/is condemned by all Muslims, furthermore this is nothing comparing to the crimes of the Crusades and Spanish inquisition which was highly instigated and endorsed by the church and the Christians.

Thank you as usual for this excellence Epimetheus 💪 especially for covering part of my ancestors (the other part is Phoenician and I am absolutely looking forward to your video on that)
@Matthew brother, being Assyrian is a matter of ethnicity, not religion. I am ethnically Assyrian and Phoenician (this is evidenced per my surname which means "welded" in Syriac - Suryoyo). In terms of religion, I am Muslim. I've tracked my ancestry through my family historian and found that we converted to Islam recently, technically speaking. I've also tracked my lineage through DNA tests which reported that I am only 9% Arab ~ very residual stuff. We did not magically transform into Arabs the moment we converted to Islam ; ) I maintain my Assyrian-Phoenician identity proudly and always.
@Matthew well i don't think that they are necesarily christian , just generally, and they are not catholic, i believe they are in a seperate branch of christianity

I find it interesting how Assyria’s greatest expansionist king (Tiglath Pileser 3) comes after a couple of stagnant reigns, including the only female ruler (regent). It is a possibility that Shamshi Adad 5 could have been the king in Nineveh that Jonah preached repentance to. His reign and his successor’s reign are very quiet. I view it as them taking the repentance to heart.
Thanks to your videos, I understand why Assyria (amongst others) are playable in the game Civilization V. I had no idea about all those empires and how big they were!

Louis Vanden Broucke Scythians were confederation of Eurasian tribes across Europe and Asia, Scythians played a major role on Near Eastern governance and ruling.
Scythians were actually the Aryans, originated in the Caucasus region who invaded and conquered the Iranian plateau(highlands), Asia Minor, Mesopotamia, Levant, Indus valley region, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, & Southern Europe. Scythians are the origin of civilization; they built the first cities, kingdoms, & empires. All the indo-european languages(or Aryan languages) originated from the Scythian tribes. Scythians were WHITE.
@@jaywolf4183 true. And they don't teach us that the first Greeks were white. Same with the first century romans. Their huge numbers of slaves from all the wars that they brought to Europe at that time became free after many generations and mixed with the indigenous people. In Rome it was common to buy your own freedom if you had the means to do so. That's why there is such a "mediteranean" look in southern europe. It's just real history. No racism intended.
I like this video very much. I hope you have more of the ancient peoples/communities/ and lands... good work! keep it up~! we are delighted. God bless you
Great read on an empire that had different periods of conquest and decline. I’m fascinated that the Assyrian trading colonies a major economic factor in Anatolia are somehow separate from the Assyrian empire. The trading colonies even have a different time 1950- 1750 BCE and were edged out by the Hittites long before the Assyrians started true empire expansion. I still cannot find a reason why the Hittites traveled a 1,000 miles from central Anatolia to Babylon, sacked it and then turned around and went home. Marching an army 1,000 miles there, sacking a powerful city like Babylon and 1,000 miles back is an incredible feat for the Middle Bronze Age. Check out a possible Luwian project in the future. They seem to be becoming more important and although never a major empire like Egypt, Babylon, Hittites, had many city states along the western coast of Anatolia. They had their own language and hieroglyphs which lasted longer than many of the surrounding peoples’ literacy. Although close to Hittite, it lasted far longer from 1400 to 6 or 700 BCE. A Luwian seal ring was found in Troy, the only, so far, evidence of what may have been spoken there in the Bronze age.
Thanks for the enlightment. I knew that Assyria & it's people were important because of Genesis 2 in the (KJV). When G-d created the Earth & parted it with rivers to distinguish lots, such as Havillah, Ethiopia, and Assyria, I knew all 3 played a significant role in history. The Lots are symbolic to 🌬️parting the red Sea & allowing a determent to the Earthly promise Land.🌄 Also, the Lots are symbolic to Jesus Christ garment the Promise of the Messiah↔️from Bethlehem(Born ), Egypt (lived as a lad) 🤔What's the 3rd place he was buried. Epimetheus, I really liked the time period boxes in the top left. Also, I think that if it is possible to find music sounding like the music of that culture and play it very quietly in the background, it might help set the scene a bit more and also serve an educational purpose, giving an example of the music of the culture. I love your videos and they are helping me build a lot of context in my understanding of biblical names and places. Don’t start it! The ottoman muslims did that when they received orders from zionists تجار الربا اليهود , yes they killed our people because they were practicing verses from quran just like muhammed did with khaybar Kuraytha and bani alnatheer but these people got orders from their bosses ! I blame UK France & US who stood there and watched us dying without helping! they were busy filming taking photos of the dead bodies crimes etc !! What destroyed humanity is the abrahamic religions that created hatred in us as humans

Thank you

@OtherWorlds AllWorlds
He doesn't need to apologize, this was clearly done base on Turkish nationalistic sentiment which was/is condemned by all Muslims, furthermore this is nothing comparing to the crimes of the Crusades and Spanish inquisition which was highly instigated and endorsed by the church and the Christians.

@Matthew also brother Assyrians and Arabs are related by virtue of their Semitism. All Semites are related "cousins" per se.

Assyrian is the most underrated culture
I find it interesting how Assyria’s greatest expansionist king (Tiglath Pileser 3) comes after a couple of stagnant reigns, including the only female ruler (regent). It is a possibility that Shamshi Adad 5 could have been the king in Nineveh that Jonah preached repentance to. His reign and his successor’s reign are very quiet. I view it as them taking the repentance to heart.
Enjoyed the narrator and the history. Very enjoyable, Thank you.

It would be cool of you'd do a video about Scythians! I think they were fascinating
not near eastern though, and they only started to realy play a part around the time of the diadochii successor states, and even so later on in those,
Louis Vanden Broucke Scythians were confederation of Eurasian tribes across Europe and Asia, Scythians played a major role on Near Eastern governance and ruling.
It would be difficult since they were so diverse and occupied such a vast teritory.

The Lots are symbolic to
