I have been more concerned about the Sentra's 2020 CVT. I know they changed it since previous models and I want to know if it is more reliable than the previous 2019 version.

@@gutadin5 I've got a 2015 Micra in a 5 speed stick. Almost 200,000 km, never had an issue and it runs mint. It's always started up on the first shot, A/C blows ice cold, engine purrs, and the transmission is rock solid. And I've driven that car like it was stolen. I've just recently decided to upgrade to a 2021 Sentra SR with a 6 speed stick and I expect that it will be every bit as reliable as the Micra was. Get any Nissan in stick and it will last without issues. I've never once had a breakdown or any sort of failure that has left me without transportation for the entire life of the vehicle; I'm sure that if I wanted it to, I could push 500,000 km out of that car relatively trouble free

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 198,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.
I have a 2015 Nissan Sentra SR but I was told to change my transmission fluid every 30000 miles. I guess I really need to look into that cuz that is expensive to have done.
Roger Casey The owners manual tells you about when should the CVT fluid be changed. Don’t let people tell you that you should change it at 30,000 miles or less because first of all it is expensive and second of all the ones who told you that are the ones who don’t properly take care of their car and won’t help you when something goes wrong with your car. The manual tells you everything you need to know about your car and I hope you take the time to read all the important information on how and when to maintain your vehicle. I hope this helps.

Same here! I also purchased a Nissan Sentra SV fully loaded Honest there's not much difference between the SR and the SV if you're getting the SV fully loaded. And I tell you I'm obsessed with mine as well.
Try and sell before 60k miles. Bought my altima brand new and the cvt transmission is going out already at only 64k miles. My wife got a 2017 rogue and hers is going out also at only 40k miles. The transmission are just straight crap
I test drove both cars last month, honestly the Corolla felt better on the road for me. I actually liked the interior of the Sentra a lot more but I ended up buying a Corolla because for me it drives better.
Nissan definitely upped its game not just with the Sentra but Altima and Versa as well. No one beats Nissan when it comes to comfort with their zero gravity seats. I drove the newly redesigned Altima (which is even more comfortable than my 2018 Altima) and in terms of comfort and drivability beats almost any car on road. The new Sentra has the same design language as the Altima and new Versa and probably carries a lot of the same DNA of its bigger brother in which case it’s no small wonder it beats out the Corolla.
Longevity, reliability and resale value wise, Corolla. Not even a contest. Everyone here is just talking about the looks of the Sentra. Look past the exterior and focus on the mechanics where Corolla wins hands down and won't leave you stranded. Plus that trash Jatco CVT in the Sentra is a ticking time bomb right off the dealership lot 🤢
@@kobe_ftw807 the CVT is not that bad as long as you follow the maintence schedule just trade in my 2016 with 150000 miles no issues shifted smooth just wanted the newer model
Drove both. Infotainment and backup camera are better on the Sentra. It has more features like keyless entry, push to start, and better safety features for the same price. Acceleration and handling are better on the Sentra, but the transmission doesn't supply power evenly at all speeds. Ride quality is better on the Corolla; if you live somewhere with poor roads or you drive long distances, I would pick the Corolla for this alone. Overall, it's a mixed bag, but for my personal use, I would much rather get the Sentra.
I've had two corollas, the last one had hard seats and was slow. just bought a 2022 sentra sv with tan quilted leather seats, which are stunning. its not slow, and has a 10 year, 150,00 mile warranty. i take good are of my cars so hope its reliable.
The Sentra looks nice, but is it as reliable as the Corolla? Toyota has been know to have long term reliability. We know Nissan had CVT issues a while ago. So how reliable is Nissan these days?
well, the nissan is superior in general quality, interiors, inserts, materials, etc, the nissan engine is the same or more reliable than in the corolla, now the cvt box, we have to see how it comes in this new model, supposedly it is improved Here in South America, we have the 6-speed manual and it works spectacularly, the Corolla 2.0 doesn't even come close.
For me and my money I would take the Sentra. It felt more powerful the transmission was a bit better and it had a much better interior. Also the seats were much better than the Corolla. The Corolla felt too cheap it's base engine is crap and the transmission is even crappier.and the seats in the base model and Le trim were horrible I test drove both cars the Sentra were very nice and I felt comfortable I could drive the car all day and not feel fatigued. That was not the case for the Corolla. I test drove the Corolla afterwards and after 20 minutes of driving it my back was in serious pain I felt like I needed a chiropractor after driving that car. And I thought the 2019 Hyundai elantra seats were bad nope the Corolla has them beat. So if your a big tall 6,4 guy like me skip the Corolla and get a Sentra trust me your back will thank you.
Quite a few comments regarding the Nissan Jatco transmission. I personally owned a Nissan Rogue that went to 200,000 trouble free miles before I traded it . I currently own another one that has 120,000 trouble free miles and it's going strong, both Jatcos. Having owned a Toyota Sienna as well, at 77,000 miles , the transmission had to be replaced. So ok, I thought it was a fluke and continued to drive it believing in Toyota's reputation. Unfortunately at 137,000 miles , It had to have its third transmission because of another failure. Needless to say, I sold the Sienna after the second transmission replacement. I still believe in Toyota quality, however I personally find it difficult to buy another one. You can't expect total reliability in any brand. Bad ones will happen, however I will purchase another Nissan with no hesitation, based on my personal experience with both brands.
long run the Toyota will last more/ maintenance is way cheaper, the nissan will loose value and fall apart. they add more extra things gadgets but forget to make their engine and transmission better. their motor mounts break easy, do the test go to a used dealer and check out 2020 or 2021 nissan and Toyota, pop the hood you will be surprised what you find. but then again half of the consumers don't know anything about cars just drive it.
Sam, my wife and I have owned Nissans most of our lives. They have served us well. Our 2007 Murano has 155K milkes and my 2008 Sentra 153K. The Nissan 3.5 liter in my opinion is one of the best in its' class. My Sentra has wonderful low end torque so the get up and go is wonderful. However, it may be time to move away from this manufacturer. One is able to get a "best deal" when purchasing the new Sentra compared to the competition. However, the reliability is a concern of mine.
Most post 2010 Nissans have dwindling all around reliability and horrendous CVT transmissions that just love to break down. Yes, they are cheaper but why do you think that is? The company has been cost cutting for years.
If you buy a new Nissan right now you'll regret it, my 2016 rogue had to have the transmission rebuild at 75k the dashboard plastic spit in two just by the sun hitting it, I have to replace the ball joints and we're not near 100k miles, a Toyota will last you easily to 350k miles trouble free if you take care of it.
I really don't understand why Nissan doesn't address their main failure point. I guess they keep trying to "fix" the CVT every other year in hopes of keeping up with the competition.
@@J.Nev. that doesn't matter. Our cars use a metal belt and pulleys. No metal belt out there last forever. Metal fatigue is a real thing and it is the reason those belts snap and the transmission go out. Changing the fluid will only delay it

The new Nissan Sentra is very impressive. I fell in love with it when I first seen the first commercial advertisement on TV. That I decided that I had to have this car. I got the Nissan Sentra SV Scarlet Red Ember and it's fully loaded as it's not much difference from the SR and I'm in love with it!👍
I bought a Sentra SR in the same color as your video! Gun metal metallic with Premium, Sunroof and low profile tires w/ black wheels. $7,000 more than the one you test drive drove... love the leather zero gravity heated seats, sunroof, auto high beams, bose sound system, heated steering wheel. My 2015 SV had 124,000 miles and the CVT trans started to go (last generation). The Corolla didn't even cross my mind. Sentra SR is a head turning sharp car and fun to drive with some luxury appointments.. the 2.0 engine and sport mode is zippy. If you get the low profile 16" wheels do yourself a favor and purchase the tire and wheel warranty at time of purchase. I've had two blowouts since purchase from potholes in PA... already paid for itself. Tire is $344 Hankok
Toyota has stuck to its roots on this car, but Nissan is junk now ever since Renault bought them and would not trust it past 60k miles. It's a nice looking car, but it's not like the good old hard body days for Nissan anymore and is sad to see. I really like the look of the front end on the Corolla and is sweet. The interior used to be cheap hard plastic in this segment, but all of the Asian automakers have stepped up their game and is much nicer
Funny thing about that is lately toyotas and hondas reliability ain't no where better than other manuafactory... however they ride on this false notion that they are more reliable..... almost every car can last 3 yrs without any major parts change and most don't keep vehicle pass 3-5 yrs

@@willis23jm1 I have 2 toyotas man, they still use the same 1.8 litre engine thats been used since 1998. One thing toyota has been consistent with their transmissions more than any other car brand. Do not fix what's not broken mantra. Not only that, the looks from outside may look conservative to your eyes, its only when you get hands on the new ones especially 2020s when you will start to appreciate what they offer, you will be amazed. Im speaking from someone who owns 2005 matrix and now 2020 corolla le. Great cars man. The only time I ever drive nissan is if rent it for a weekend from a rental company.
I’ve owned 3 Toyota’s in my life time . The 03 4Runner for 15 years [ I still drive it daily ] . 1984 Toyota van and 93 Privia . Van lasted 8 years and the Privia 12 years . All 3 vehicles with no problems over my ownership. Sold both still in good shape . Now I’m now looking at a newer Tacoma pickup to replace my Nissan Frontier . The Nissan Frontier is absolutely a piece of crap . I knew better not to buy Nissan and bought this anyway ; my mistake . I said goodbye to American built vehicles years ago .

The higher seats in the Corolla are actually an advantage to me; my 02 Corolla have low seats and it's not as easy to get in and out of it as the current generation Corolla which I test drove. Regardless, I'd never touch a Nissan until they sort out their quality/reliability issues.
Neither of these cars should cost over $15K and neither the Altima nor Camrh should cost more than $20K. Car prices are ridiculous and people shouldn't put up with it but they do so manufacturers will continue to raise prices far past tge rate of inflation Anyway, the Sentra does look nice but they put that grill on the GTR which makes it look like a sentra
I agree that, while both look attractive, the Sentra wins in the looks department, both outside and inside. Especially if you choose the premium package in the Sentra SV trim and enjoy the quilted leather seats. However, the 2020 Nissan Sentra is cheaply made in Mexico with the infamous JATCO CVT. 2020 Toyota Corolla is made in USA & Japan and has the Aisin CVT which has a much better reputation for reliability. Many people buy these cars so they can drive it for over 20 years so long-term reliability matters. Corolla has been using the Aisin CVT since 2013 and it's been mostly reliable.
@@SamCarLegionI wouldn't go that far. The Sentra outshines it but the 2020 Corolla is attractive with it's sleek lowered and wider TNGA sedan profile and samurai headlights. The Blueprint color is especially gorgeous. The new Corolla certainly looks better than previous models. Is it attention-seekingly crazy like a 2020 Civic or 2020 Civic Type R? No but that's a good thing, a lot of people find the 2020 Civic to be overstyled and unappealing. You don't want your car to be attracting too much attention, especially from thieves.

Alika Muneli it’s much cheaper than both corolla and civic. Now I highly doubt people buy these compact cars for safety. They buy it because it’s cheap and looks good, therefore yes the Sentra wins.

Good looks won't get you from point A to B when your transmission and engine is falling apart. If you are trying to impress people around you, buy a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.
I would rather have the Corolla because it’s better looking has led headlights and taillights and i have never heard anything about Comfort problems and you have Toyota reliability and the Corolla is very safe
Personally for me, I prefer the Corolla, it just feels more button'd down to the road, like it could take some corners while the Sentra wasn't bad, I preferred how the Corolla drove so that's my pic
If reliability is at the top of your list go with the Corolla. Also the SE and XSE have a first launch gear and 169 horses. I drove the 1.8 Corolla recently and was pleasantly surprised with the power so the SE will be that much quicker
Thank you Peter for sharing that. So even the LE with the 1.8 liter engine is fast enough? I prefer the LE because it's cheaper and has better riding tires. Also if you notice, Sam in the video above drove a 1.8 Corolla and he said it feels faster than the Sentra. So the 1.8 engine in Corolla must be good!
Although I'm a Corolla fan, I must correct you Sam. This 2020 Corolla was not last updated in 2018, the 2020 Corolla is the first year of the 12th generation. The 2020 Corollas started being sold very early at early March 2019, maybe that's why you thought they were older. You're right though, the 2020 Corolla has been in the market for a full year longer than the 2020 Sentra so Nissan did have a chance to analyze the 2020 Corolla and use their analysis to make the 2020 Sentra more competitive.

@@SamCarLegion Aah OK if you look at it that way, yes it was updated in 2018. Also the 2019 Corolla hatchback, which is part of the all new 12th generation, started being sold in 2018. I was focusing on when the 2020 sedan first started being sold, which is the beginning of March 2019.
If the Sentra was a manual it would be half way decent but Ive heard too many bad remarks about their automatics and CVTS. Toyotas transmissions are usually reliable regardless of what kind. If i recall correctly, Toyota doesnt even make their own transmissions. I'm sure the Sentra is far more fun to drive. I have 16 corolla and its boring as hell. It does 0-60 in about a year! Its a manual so thats its only saving grace. Toyotas generally last longer so thats kind of why I bought one. My first car was 1991 Toyota Corolla and I cranked out 210000 miles before sending to a junkyard. I also had a 93 Nissan Sentra which was REALLY fucking fun to drive. The exhaust sounded bad ass but the engine blew somewhere around 150000 miles. Both were manuals. If you wanted that Nissan it would still be relaiable, Id just suggest getting a manual. Id still probably stick with the worlds most boring and slowest car because I know its going to outlast everything else. Corolla stands for Car Of Rust On Last Leg Again. Anyways, I've gone on long enough. This was still intersting to watch and learn about the newer cars.

Corolla is smaller and feels more economy car grade inside than the Sentra. Sentra also has more comfortable seats and more exciting exterior looks. Corolla is quicker, but that's about it. I chose the 21 Sentra SR and use it for my 100+ mile daily highway commute plus ridesharing. 25k miles so far and it's been solid.
Sentra wins on looks, options, practicality and initial price but long-term reliability- we all know Corolla wins. For a lease, Sentra ofcourse but a vehicle to keep for more than 5 yrs or over 150k trouble free miles is the Corolla.
The Corolla is a compact sedan, while Camry is a midsized sedan. Corolla was just redesigned for 2020. Toyota is reliable, Nissan is not because their quality has fallen since merging with Renault
The elegant and super comfortable Sentra for me over the overpriced, bland and common corolla. I remember in the nineties the sentras were generally better performing cars than corollas. The 1990 SER could run rings around corollas and civics of the day.
Bottom line is durability over time and the short run and long run. The reputation for the Corolla for less time in the shop is outstanding . It depends on how long you use the car before you get rid of it . Remember the more technology chances are the more problems the longer you have any vehicle .

Marco Zepeda just so you know I don’t even own a Nissan but I would mind owing one, But you have to give credit to the facts, Toyota is a very reliable car but boring please don’t be a fan boy it doesn’t look good. IIHS rating look good on the Sentra, where did you get the poor rating from? Fanboy book of facts? You first said that you wondered about the safety rating meaning that you didn’t know but implied that they weren’t good then you claimed that the were poor, IIHS website disagrees with you. Sam CarLegion imho if a Japanese sedan is assembled in japan that’s the best. Assembled in the USA that’s ok. Assembled in Mexico has not been proven to be great yet. Or even good. Time will tell. The same goes for resale value.
I have a 2015 altima that I bought brand new and the transmission is going out at 60k my wife bought a 2017 rogue brand new and her transmission is starting to go out too at only 40k . Nissans are nice looking pieces of crap So if you wanna look cool and stylish why you sit on the side of the road then get a Nissan

Comparing nissan with Toyota apples to apples? Hell no, I made the mistake of buying a nissan rogue and it's been nothing but problems, that jatco cvt isn't the same as the one made by toyota, you mentioned many things in your comparison but reliability, that's why toyota sells more than all others.
Bought mine in 2020 basic S model... The only maintenance done .. oil changes ... About 2 months ago I was looking to trade it.... Dealership was offering me $17,100 at just under one month shy of 1 year old..... I roughly bought it for around 19,800 ... And at first glance you may think that is bad... At the time of that offer I had over 32,000 miles on it! I have drove the hell out of this car and pushed it to its limits on a daily basis! I have taken many trips well over 400 miles and back to my hometown ... This car is extremely reliable it runs just like the day I drove it off a lot... Nissan is finally doing something right! Not to mention the interior does not feel like a 19,000 car it's very quiet and so is the engine... So quiet I actually left it on a few times ☹️ ...hope this comment helps
Just dumped my trouble prone, unreliable and dealer unsupported 2020 Sentra SV for a Corolla LE with convenience. The Sentra might seem like a better value but it just can’t match the quality, reliability and smoothness of the Corolla. Vastly smoother CVT in the Corolla and a less jarring ride. If it weren’t for the current shortages driving up trade in values I’d never have been able to make the switch because Nissan resale values are much less under normal circumstances.
@@shaanajaz8541 Lean to your left with your head touching the window and adjust the left mirror out so that just a sliver of the driver's side of your car is visible in the mirror. Then lean towards the right so that you're leaning over the center console. Adjust the right mirror out so that only a sliver of the passenger side of your car is visible. Leave your center rear view mirror adjusted so that the entire rear window is visible. Done! (There are plenty of RUclips videos on this subject)
Nissan needs to get rid of their CVTs and get more exciting cars. I used to be a Nissan guy, but that CVT scares the crap out of me, and the 350/370 is ancient.
Toyota are more reliable sentra doesn't come close in fact nissan are listed in the button list honda and toyota are in the top rating and I am not a honda or toyota owner
Both cars are nice but let's be honest. People will get the Nissan for the nice interior ✨ 🤩 and Toyota for the reliability 🙌💪. PS: I like that the Toyota has a bigger screen plus Apple Car play and I also like how the Nissan's screen, the camera reversing seems to have more angles . 📐 📷
Sam CarLegion It is but we may have different definitions of “better”... Sentra will leave you looking “good” on the side of the road due to blown out CVT (Crappy Variable transmission) or damaged Timing chain, while the Corolla will run circles on the Sentra with its Automatic transmission. Corolla may not be the fastest but that’s fine but it’s the most reliable. I’ll take a Corolla over every Japanese counterpart but I’ll take the Elantra or Forte over ANY Japanese rival.

I leased the sv with the premium. Loved the quilted tan leather seats. So many features for a great price. Not as slow as some reviewers suggest also.

I test drove both cars last month, honestly the Corolla felt better on the road for me. I actually liked the interior of the Sentra a lot more but I ended up buying a Corolla because for me it drives better.
Nissan definitely upped its game not just with the Sentra but Altima and Versa as well. No one beats Nissan when it comes to comfort with their zero gravity seats. I drove the newly redesigned Altima (which is even more comfortable than my 2018 Altima) and in terms of comfort and drivability beats almost any car on road. The new Sentra has the same design language as the Altima and new Versa and probably carries a lot of the same DNA of its bigger brother in which case it’s no small wonder it beats out the Corolla.

Longevity, reliability and resale value wise, Corolla. Not even a contest. Everyone here is just talking about the looks of the Sentra. Look past the exterior and focus on the mechanics where Corolla wins hands down and won't leave you stranded. Plus that trash Jatco CVT in the Sentra is a ticking time bomb right off the dealership lot 🤢

Infotainment and backup camera are better on the Sentra. It has more features like keyless entry, push to start, and better safety features for the same price.
Acceleration and handling are better on the Sentra, but the transmission doesn't supply power evenly at all speeds.
Ride quality is better on the Corolla; if you live somewhere with poor roads or you drive long distances, I would pick the Corolla for this alone.
Overall, it's a mixed bag, but for my personal use, I would much rather get the Sentra.
I've had two corollas, the last one had hard seats and was slow. just bought a 2022 sentra sv with tan quilted leather seats, which are stunning. its not slow, and has a 10 year, 150,00 mile warranty. i take good are of my cars so hope its reliable.
The Sentra looks nice, but is it as reliable as the Corolla? Toyota has been know to have long term reliability. We know Nissan had CVT issues a while ago. So how reliable is Nissan these days?
well, the nissan is superior in general quality, interiors, inserts, materials, etc, the nissan engine is the same or more reliable than in the corolla, now the cvt box, we have to see how it comes in this new model, supposedly it is improved Here in South America, we have the 6-speed manual and it works spectacularly, the Corolla 2.0 doesn't even come close.
For me and my money I would take the Sentra. It felt more powerful the transmission was a bit better and it had a much better interior. Also the seats were much better than the Corolla. The Corolla felt too cheap it's base engine is crap and the transmission is even crappier.and the seats in the base model and Le trim were horrible I test drove both cars the Sentra were very nice and I felt comfortable I could drive the car all day and not feel fatigued. That was not the case for the Corolla. I test drove the Corolla afterwards and after 20 minutes of driving it my back was in serious pain I felt like I needed a chiropractor after driving that car. And I thought the 2019 Hyundai elantra seats were bad nope the Corolla has them beat. So if your a big tall 6,4 guy like me skip the Corolla and get a Sentra trust me your back will thank you.
Quite a few comments regarding the Nissan Jatco transmission. I personally owned a Nissan Rogue that went to 200,000 trouble free miles before I traded it . I currently own another one that has 120,000 trouble free miles and it's going strong, both Jatcos. Having owned a Toyota Sienna as well, at 77,000 miles , the transmission had to be replaced. So ok, I thought it was a fluke and continued to drive it believing in Toyota's reputation. Unfortunately at 137,000 miles , It had to have its third transmission because of another failure. Needless to say, I sold the Sienna after the second transmission replacement. I still believe in Toyota quality, however I personally find it difficult to buy another one. You can't expect total reliability in any brand. Bad ones will happen, however I will purchase another Nissan with no hesitation, based on my personal experience with both brands.
long run the Toyota will last more/ maintenance is way cheaper, the nissan will loose value and fall apart. they add more extra things gadgets but forget to make their engine and transmission better. their motor mounts break easy, do the test go to a used dealer and check out 2020 or 2021 nissan and Toyota, pop the hood you will be surprised what you find. but then again half of the consumers don't know anything about cars just drive it.
Sam, my wife and I have owned Nissans most of our lives. They have served us well. Our 2007 Murano has 155K milkes and my 2008 Sentra 153K. The Nissan 3.5 liter in my opinion is one of the best in its' class. My Sentra has wonderful low end torque so the get up and go is wonderful. However, it may be time to move away from this manufacturer. One is able to get a "best deal" when purchasing the new Sentra compared to the competition. However, the reliability is a concern of mine.

Most post 2010 Nissans have dwindling all around reliability and horrendous CVT transmissions that just love to break down. Yes, they are cheaper but why do you think that is? The company has been cost cutting for years.
If you buy a new Nissan right now you'll regret it, my 2016 rogue had to have the transmission rebuild at 75k the dashboard plastic spit in two just by the sun hitting it, I have to replace the ball joints and we're not near 100k miles, a Toyota will last you easily to 350k miles trouble free if you take care of it.

I Made It Past 100k On My CVT And I Know Others That Has As Well. Change The Fluid And If It’s Needed Get A Transmission Cooler.
@@J.Nev. that doesn't matter. Our cars use a metal belt and pulleys. No metal belt out there last forever. Metal fatigue is a real thing and it is the reason those belts snap and the transmission go out. Changing the fluid will only delay it

The new Nissan Sentra is very impressive. I fell in love with it when I first seen the first commercial advertisement on TV. That I decided that I had to have this car. I got the Nissan Sentra SV Scarlet Red Ember and it's fully loaded as it's not much difference from the SR and I'm in love with it!👍

I bought a Sentra SR in the same color as your video! Gun metal metallic with Premium, Sunroof and low profile tires w/ black wheels.
$7,000 more than the one you test drive drove... love the leather zero gravity heated seats, sunroof, auto high beams, bose sound system, heated steering wheel.
My 2015 SV had 124,000 miles and the CVT trans started to go (last generation). The Corolla didn't even cross my mind. Sentra SR is a head turning sharp car and fun to drive with some luxury appointments.. the 2.0 engine and sport mode is zippy.
If you get the low profile 16" wheels do yourself a favor and purchase the tire and wheel warranty at time of purchase. I've had two blowouts since purchase from potholes in PA... already paid for itself. Tire is $344 Hankok
Toyota has stuck to its roots on this car, but Nissan is junk now ever since Renault bought them and would not trust it past 60k miles. It's a nice looking car, but it's not like the good old hard body days for Nissan anymore and is sad to see. I really like the look of the front end on the Corolla and is sweet. The interior used to be cheap hard plastic in this segment, but all of the Asian automakers have stepped up their game and is much nicer

Do not fix what's not broken mantra. Not only that, the looks from outside may look conservative to your eyes, its only when you get hands on the new ones especially 2020s when you will start to appreciate what they offer, you will be amazed. Im speaking from someone who owns 2005 matrix and now 2020 corolla le. Great cars man. The only time I ever drive nissan is if rent it for a weekend from a rental company.

I’ve owned 3 Toyota’s in my life time . The 03 4Runner for 15 years [ I still drive it daily ] . 1984 Toyota van and 93 Privia . Van lasted 8 years and the Privia 12 years . All 3 vehicles with no problems over my ownership. Sold both still in good shape . Now I’m now looking at a newer Tacoma pickup to replace my Nissan Frontier . The Nissan Frontier is absolutely a piece of crap . I knew better not to buy Nissan and bought this anyway ; my mistake . I said goodbye to American built vehicles years ago .

The higher seats in the Corolla are actually an advantage to me; my 02 Corolla have low seats and it's not as easy to get in and out of it as the current generation Corolla which I test drove. Regardless, I'd never touch a Nissan until they sort out their quality/reliability issues.
Also Toyota is still missing Android Auto, but will add it soon. Toyota had refused Android Auto until 2019

I agree that, while both look attractive, the Sentra wins in the looks department, both outside and inside. Especially if you choose the premium package in the Sentra SV trim and enjoy the quilted leather seats. However, the 2020 Nissan Sentra is cheaply made in Mexico with the infamous JATCO CVT. 2020 Toyota Corolla is made in USA & Japan and has the Aisin CVT which has a much better reputation for reliability. Many people buy these cars so they can drive it for over 20 years so long-term reliability matters. Corolla has been using the Aisin CVT since 2013 and it's been mostly reliable.

@@SamCarLegionI wouldn't go that far. The Sentra outshines it but the 2020 Corolla is attractive with it's sleek lowered and wider TNGA sedan profile and samurai headlights. The Blueprint color is especially gorgeous. The new Corolla certainly looks better than previous models. Is it attention-seekingly crazy like a 2020 Civic or 2020 Civic Type R? No but that's a good thing, a lot of people find the 2020 Civic to be overstyled and unappealing. You don't want your car to be attracting too much attention, especially from thieves.

If reliability is at the top of your list go with the Corolla. Also the SE and XSE have a first launch gear and 169 horses. I drove the 1.8 Corolla recently and was pleasantly surprised with the power so the SE will be that much quicker
Thank you Peter for sharing that. So even the LE with the 1.8 liter engine is fast enough? I prefer the LE because it's cheaper and has better riding tires. Also if you notice, Sam in the video above drove a 1.8 Corolla and he said it feels faster than the Sentra. So the 1.8 engine in Corolla must be good!

Although I'm a Corolla fan, I must correct you Sam. This 2020 Corolla was not last updated in 2018, the 2020 Corolla is the first year of the 12th generation. The 2020 Corollas started being sold very early at early March 2019, maybe that's why you thought they were older. You're right though, the 2020 Corolla has been in the market for a full year longer than the 2020 Sentra so Nissan did have a chance to analyze the 2020 Corolla and use their analysis to make the 2020 Sentra more competitive.

If the Sentra was a manual it would be half way decent but Ive heard too many bad remarks about their automatics and CVTS. Toyotas transmissions are usually reliable regardless of what kind. If i recall correctly, Toyota doesnt even make their own transmissions. I'm sure the Sentra is far more fun to drive. I have 16 corolla and its boring as hell. It does 0-60 in about a year! Its a manual so thats its only saving grace. Toyotas generally last longer so thats kind of why I bought one. My first car was 1991 Toyota Corolla and I cranked out 210000 miles before sending to a junkyard. I also had a 93 Nissan Sentra which was REALLY fucking fun to drive. The exhaust sounded bad ass but the engine blew somewhere around 150000 miles. Both were manuals. If you wanted that Nissan it would still be relaiable, Id just suggest getting a manual. Id still probably stick with the worlds most boring and slowest car because I know its going to outlast everything else. Corolla stands for Car Of Rust On Last Leg Again. Anyways, I've gone on long enough. This was still intersting to watch and learn about the newer cars.

Corolla is smaller and feels more economy car grade inside than the Sentra. Sentra also has more comfortable seats and more exciting exterior looks. Corolla is quicker, but that's about it. I chose the 21 Sentra SR and use it for my 100+ mile daily highway commute plus ridesharing. 25k miles so far and it's been solid.

The Corolla is a compact sedan, while Camry is a midsized sedan. Corolla was just redesigned for 2020. Toyota is reliable, Nissan is not because their quality has fallen since merging with Renault

The elegant and super comfortable Sentra for me over the overpriced, bland and common corolla. I remember in the nineties the sentras were generally better performing cars than corollas. The 1990 SER could run rings around corollas and civics of the day.
We are not in the 90’s. Nowadays Nissan reliability is in the dumpster.

Bottom line is durability over time and the short run and long run. The reputation for the Corolla for less time in the shop is outstanding . It depends on how long you use the car before you get rid of it . Remember the more technology chances are the more problems the longer you have any vehicle .

I have a 2015 altima that I bought brand new and the transmission is going out at 60k my wife bought a 2017 rogue brand new and her transmission is starting to go out too at only 40k . Nissans are nice looking pieces of crap So if you wanna look cool and stylish why you sit on the side of the road then get a Nissan

Bought mine in 2020 basic S model... The only maintenance done .. oil changes ... About 2 months ago I was looking to trade it.... Dealership was offering me $17,100 at just under one month shy of 1 year old..... I roughly bought it for around 19,800 ... And at first glance you may think that is bad... At the time of that offer I had over 32,000 miles on it! I have drove the hell out of this car and pushed it to its limits on a daily basis! I have taken many trips well over 400 miles and back to my hometown ... This car is extremely reliable it runs just like the day I drove it off a lot... Nissan is finally doing something right! Not to mention the interior does not feel like a 19,000 car it's very quiet and so is the engine... So quiet I actually left it on a few times ☹️ ...hope this comment helps

Just dumped my trouble prone, unreliable and dealer unsupported 2020 Sentra SV for a Corolla LE with convenience. The Sentra might seem like a better value but it just can’t match the quality, reliability and smoothness of the Corolla. Vastly smoother CVT in the Corolla and a less jarring ride. If it weren’t for the current shortages driving up trade in values I’d never have been able to make the switch because Nissan resale values are much less under normal circumstances.
Comfort is everything... Sentra wins on that but for efficiency on gas corolla wins

Then lean towards the right so that you're leaning over the center console. Adjust the right mirror out so that only a sliver of the passenger side of your car is visible. Leave your center rear view mirror adjusted so that the entire rear window is visible. Done! (There are plenty of RUclips videos on this subject)

Sam CarLegion It is but we may have different definitions of “better”... Sentra will leave you looking “good” on the side of the road due to blown out CVT (Crappy Variable transmission) or damaged Timing chain, while the Corolla will run circles on the Sentra with its Automatic transmission. Corolla may not be the fastest but that’s fine but it’s the most reliable. I’ll take a Corolla over every Japanese counterpart but I’ll take the Elantra or Forte over ANY Japanese rival.

Sam CarLegion ya. But the corolla has a trick up its sleeve. The cvt includes a first gear for launch performance.
