That morning I was working at the grocery store near the harbour in Bremerhaven and then suddenly Eva was at my checkout, it absolutely made my day! You are such a kind person, I wish you the best for 2024^^
What a great experience!
I imagine she is as gorgeous in person as she is on video- lucky you !--should have got a pic !
This must have been weird xD (a good weird)
That's so exciting! Sometimes it's hard to believe you're actually seeing this special celebrity! I've had that experience a few times here in Los Angeles even though its a celebrity town.
I saw Ava's Land Rover parked right by my house in Hailey, Idaho last summer!
you should have just went to the nearest auto parts store and just bought a new battery or quickly got it checked. i would assume internationally all auto parts store can also check the battery and alternator with a voltage meter to make sure its the battery that fails before replacing. but definetly glad you made it back with odyssey safe.
Exactly that, it could just as easily have been the wiring being corroded.
That’s what I was thinking.
Surprised someone didn’t advise her or take her to get just get one.
Although I about fell over at the prices when I had to replace my own battery last year.
Same. It seems that they might not have disconnected the battery before shipping. The nice thing about diesel engines is that they don't require electricity to run. It's only needed for the starter and any other electrical items on the vehicle. You can also idle them for as long as you want. They don't need to be turned off while fueling either. That's usually posted at the gas station but isn't necessary and I've never seen it enforced.
I can already tell you it is not the alternator because she wouldn't be able to have any electric even if the car is running! a new battery would solved her issue !00% or at least get her home in Poland!
@@mracer8 Definitely leaning towards the battery, given its hard life the past two years. That said, checking the charging system doesn't hurt, as I've seen enough instances of an alternator cranking out enough power for a vehicle to run, but not enough to sufficiently charge a previously flat dead battery to any crank-worthy level, especially a larger displacement engine. She needs a good going over regardless to get her back into travel-worthy state with any piece of mind.
A battery backup jumper is really a necessity. For those times where there isn’t any around to jump start. They are fairly cheap and easy to use.
Despite adversity, Eva's sweetness and joy are just so contagious.
Hi Eva, that battery was most likely left connected while sitting in the shipping container. The shipper is supposed to disconnect the battery cables. I ship cars from the US ti EU and back for many years. I know the manager at West Coast Shipping, and I would get them to buy you a new battery...that's unacceptable, especially at 3,500 euros !!
Was gonna say it looks like the battery wasn’t disconnected, which it should’ve been! 🤷🤔😂
That’s what I was thinking but I’m not an expert.
Thanks for clarifying the correct procedure.
Anytime a battery is not going to be used for an extended amount of time disconnect the barriers, even in a flashlight.@@sam12587
How old was the battery anyway? My battery comes with an 18-month/30000 km warranty. However, it is required to check the battery's health every three months.
I think you should take Odyssey to Norway or Sweden. As an American, it really reminded me of Northwestern America/Alaska, especially how different the lifestyles are and how isolated they are (especially Northern Norway). It would be so interesting to see your take on it!!
As long as she got it 'properly' winterised beforehand...going out there alone with the odd mishap might make good content, but it can also get you killed.
The landscapes of Norway might come off as a little lackluster for her after seeing the landscapes of Alaska, but the architecture and essence of Norway is some of the best in the whole world.
@@blacksharkgeo ...if only Norway wasn't so expensive!
I had same problem with my camper, and I bought a jump starter device, really handy, no need to find a kind person, and it doubles as air pump and extra battery with usb port, and a light, really good buy for less than 100 euro, I always keep it charged and ready to use.
Damn it Eva, your zest for life is so contagious even in the face of adversity. Thanks for who you are and what you do.
In the face of problems, Eva always maintains her sense of positiveness. Very imprssive.
I am sure there are plenty of episodes of intense cursing and crying off camera 😅 but her ability to power through it is impressive.
Yeah right. There is a reason why she's still single.
True
I'm single
What
Toyota 4Runner would of started first turn. Plus they’re about $20k cheaper.
Neighbor is selling 20 acres over looking the Columbia River for $220k. Cabin, electric, well, and septic. It was sad to see you give up on the western United States. Good luck to ya!! 🍀
So glad to see u get home safely! We in the U.S. will miss u not being here but looking forward to seeing your next adventures! Stay safe and know you are loved!!
Sounds like you need a solid-state battery jump box. No need to rely on other people being around, no trying to maneuver two cars into alignment in a busy parking lot or along side of the road. My dad got me one for Christmas about 5 years ago and it's been invaluable; first for a horrible lemon of a car, and in the years since, sharing it around to other stranded motorists. Mine even has emergency lights and a little air compressor for (slowly) filling up a low tire. Best. Present. Ever.
You could try the ice roads over the Baltic Sea onto the Estonian islands. They usually open the ice roads somewhere in February and March and it has been a cold winter, so they will likely open them. Besides, the Estonian islands - while very quiet in the winter - are very beautiful places.
Kindlasti võib-olla
As much off-roading as you do I assumed you would have a jump-box/air compressor combo
Yes, I have been surprised at various build, modification and maintenance times, that someone has not suggested or rigged her up with some of these pieces of equipment, especially given some of the very remote places she has driven. About her starting problems, 9/10 of the time it is the battery, especially in a 3-month span like this. Even if jumpable as this one was, time off like that, and more so if it has remained connected (but even if not), a battery on its way out will take advantage and show its problems for sure when given the next opportunity.
Agree, though I think this is learning as you go.... Well, 3 months is a little long even on trickle charge... But even a Jackery or EcoFlow can charge a 12v SLA battery in two different ways. I'd say that battery either needs replacing or worst case reconditioning. Sometimes, when I watch RUclipsrs go places like the Arctic or Scandinavia, even once they've been to a specialized offroad mechanic their vehicles really aren't winterized enough. I've seen diesel heaters fail when there's no back up heat source at under -20; and, I know 110v block heaters are used a lot in the US, but Defenders can be fitted with diesel-powered coolant preheaters... If those and other items cost too much before leaving, I wouldn't leave until I had them. *One question I would have for wannabe off-roaders is whether they got any practical instruction on an offroading course in their own vehicle* as I've seen a lot of mishaps that should never have happened if the driver knew the vehicle's and their limits...
FYI the specs, kit and upgrades are featured on expeditionportal
Glad you made it home! They sell a jump start battery that is the size of a portable charger for a phone/ipad, maybe slightly bigger. You hook it up with the cables and you can jump start your car a few times. It’s great to have in the car emergency kit.
Happy New Year! And Happy New Journeys with Vilk and Oddissey.
So, North American chapter is closed. Hopefully we will show up again in another chapter. The western U.S. has dimmed by 1 bright sparkle.
That said, Poland has done you well. You appear very serene, content, and happy.
I noticed, at the end, I had smiled the entire video. You were smiling all along, even through the problems. I was just smiling with you.
Theres still a lot of North America she can explore, like mesoamerica, Greenland and the Caribbean. And other parts of America and Canada.
Always carry a battery booster. I have a Noco GB70 and GB150, both are killer battery boosters. I live above the arctic circle, and battery boosters are a necessity.
she needs to replace with a new battery. running a weak battery will wear out the alternator
@Curling_Rack of course, but carrying a battery booster is just common sense. You can even use them to power other devices at they usual have USB-A ports to charge the booster and also USB ports to charge other devices.
Happy New Year Eva. One tough gal taking on a new year and I know you have it in you to make this year special. Thanks for sharing that great smile and fun easy going way about life.
Congratulations, girl! You're really one of a kind.
I feel like Eva's videos need a "Road So Far" Recap at the beginning like TV Shows. 🙂Hope 2024 is off to a good start for you, Eva!
I had similar battery issues with my car from UK to Germany (Greifswald so very close to Poland). In the end, a new fan belt - problem solved. This was back in 1997 when cars still had skinny little fan belts BUT it was an Austin Morris Metro and Germany didn't have the parts (but Poland did - & very cheap too). Back then there was a constant convoy of Germans heading to/fro the Polish border for cheap goods, from car parts to ciggies and Poles on bikes selling them 😊.
I love how you don't just show the beautiful scenes and the highlight reels of travelling but you show the parts that can sometimes be a pain too. The truth is that, sometimes, getting to experience those beautiful scenes requires a lot of logistics and hassle just to make it there in one piece, which you would never know from many travel influencer accounts who make it look like travel is all fun and relaxing all the time, when the reality is often stressful and overwhelming (but always worth it in the end). Love your channel ❤
So glad to see you back online. Be safe young lady and looking forward to new adventures!!
Your energy and excitement is shining. Any time you put something important in the hands of someone else your heart is going to be at risk. Good that you are able to be so patient and positive. I have been following your adventures for years and now I will continue to follow you if I can and you continue to be doing videos.
I recommend having a booster pack on hand, so you don't have to worry about asking people for boosts lol. Highly recommend the NOCO Boost HD GB70. Glad you made it home safe!
You can only use a booster once ! It must be charged afterwards. Anyway, the battery was dead, it had to be replaced.
@@vzmax That's a misconception, lithium ion battery jump starters can be used dozens of times between recharges. I also recommend you get one, they can save your butt. I prefer Gooloo brand but Noco has good rep too.
@@mrdiggie3321 I have one, capacity 73Wh. I keep it fully charged in a warm place. But I really don't think it can be used "dozens of times"...
that particular model claims to be able to jump start a car 40 times from one charge. The one I have may use 25% of the battery to jump start a van... but others I've had before claim it needs to be at 100% to jump start a car - therefore I would recharge it while driving to get it to 100% just in case.
@@vzmax No, Noco can be used multiple times. Where did you heard such ridiculous thing? This winter i was jump starting my own car for like 6 times from single charge.
Awesome video as always Eva zu Beck. I'm so glad to see Odyssey is safe and sound back in your hands can't wait to see the new adventures y'all are going to have.
Its okay to feel a little reckless and sentimental at the same Eva because Odyssey has brought you to many places and been with you through the highs and lows of your travel adventures. She stays faithful till the end, unlike humans that disappoints at times. Looking forward to your new chapter here in Europe. May you find joy, happiness and perhaps love as you travel along with Vilk by your side. Stay safe always.
I second these sentiments! I found your videos (and have truly been enjoying them) when looking up videos for Jarbidge Nevada! My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity of visiting there in October, and I was looking for other people's experiences and pictures in this quaint little mining town. Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world!!
Been a fan of your RUclips channel for a while now but this video I was smiling the whole time just because of the simple fact of how happy you were and excited to see Odyssey. It's the little things in life! Much love from San Antonio Texas 🤠
Hi Eva! Your German is really good! 😊
The battery problem was actully to be expected, an old battery might not really like a deep discharge over several months. I had bought a new one right away. At the other hand you meet really nice people when asking for help - my experience from Canada.
And talking ”cool” experiences: How about a winter trip to Scandinavia? Then you should REALLY get a fresh battery before heading into the cold.
Anyway: maybe we will see some nice videos from Scandinavia in the next months, may it be winter or summer. Nice you are back!
Yay thank you for taking us through the process
So nice to see Odyssey again where she belongs. What an epic journey. Thank you so much for sharing that story. Sending you much love from❤ Richmond, Va. Jim, Harriet and Yuki
The coat hanger behind your driver's seat could cause serious head injury in an accident. I'm sure you've already considered its placement, and it may be far enough away to not be an issue (the camera angle just makes it look close). Glad you made it home safely.
There’s something very inspiring and exciting about this adventure you went on. It involves an older vehicle with sentimental value (that sometimes people don’t really understand) and I can relate to that - as someone who just bought a 1991 BMW 325i that used to be my dad’s. Having lost him in 2020, this car means a lot to me, and sometimes you have to sacrifice creature comforts - when u want to drive a car of a certain age. Things that used to work stop, have to be replaced or repaired and in some cases - as the sunroof on mine, it’s beyond repair. So as someone who loves to drive I found this to be exciting and so cool to see someone get so excited about their vehicle. It’s truly special when u can develop that relationship with an inanimate object, but, here we are..!😊
Good to see you made it home complete. I do so hope your restlessness settles for you now. I am sure your grandma is super happy to see you and have you closer to her. I wish you only peace and happiness, and the same for Vilk. I must admit I had had hope that you would stay in the wild west, but knowing you will see your grandma more there makes me very happy. Life is only a minute in the end.
Happy New Year to you Odyssey and Vilk … sorry that the USA… didn’t work out for you… but glad you are home and safe. Hope the new year will bring things that you hope for yourself in abundance…
Please take good care and stay safe and well…
Wishing you Peace… from NY…😁 🌜🌞🌛
You should have a mechanic add another battery set up and a bigger alternator you should not have any issues and you can also use one battery for some of your lights and stuff and charge it through the other battery. In USA most rv or camper vans have a dual battery system.
Welcome back Eva, good to see you again. Can't wait to see your further adventures. Stay safe. :)
Your dog loves you so much , great to see how close you both are
Journey complete. Congratulations Eva. Looking forward to your new adventures.
Happy new year to you and your family ( Poland 🇵🇱). How cool is that . Watching your wonderful video , I feel your pain my camper is sadly in the garage in bits 🥲. So happy your settled 😇😇😇. New future now mate 🙏
As for winter trips: you are going north through sweden or finland and back south down through Norway
Loving your NEW life in Poland and excited for what the future holds for you.
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Next time buy a battery pack starter kit. They do come in handy in situations like this. But I wonder what Vilk thought seeing - and smelling - Odyssey again. Was he excited to see her too? Take care - and Happy New Year 2024
Those battery packs are great not only for saving yourself but I've helped out many folks especially if they are in bad situations where it is not convenient (or even possible) to pull up next to them to jump them off. Plus she needs to just buy a new battery.
I think that with her estimated net worth of over €670 thousand euros she could well afford one. 😁
@@jackblah5842 I have 1 with a radio, built in air compresser ,light several electric out lets. Heavy though
Most awaited video. You are not the only hero of your show. Vilk and oddicy are equally important. We love all three of you.

Thank you for the upload Eva. Glad Odyssey is back home.

Glad you got Odyssey back, and had a safe trip back home. Looking forward to more videos ..Stocky, in TX.
It’s nice to see someone so excited.
Hey Eva, good to see you arrived in poland safely and there are so many kind helpful people along the way.
Also good to see nothing was stolen while being shipped.
Your excitement at being reunited with Odyssey was palpable!
I can't wait to see what you have in store next, Eva. 🥰
Glad Odyssey is safe and sound and that you both made it back to Wroclaw okay! Look forward to new adventures!
Congrats on getting her home, Eva! Now begins the the chapter... so excited for you! Wishing you a wonderful 2024!
Maybe add a jump starter to your truck. I have one and they are very cheap and has saved me many times.
what really sets you apart from other travel vloggers is your editing and sense of good story telling narrative. Keep it up
Glad you made it back home safe! ❤
Great to see not too many dramas getting home! Looking forward to your next vid!
Lead acid car batteries don't do very well if allowed to discharge below a certain point. They naturally lose power on their own just sitting idle, and if your truck had electronics (e.g. computer, clock, etc) that drew small amounts of current while it transit, then your battery may have been permantly damaged. This is probably why it wasn't hold a charge even after a jump start and long drive.
I've heard that at 50% state of charge it will start to become damaged and will lose longevity. Thus it must be kept topped off.
The battery should’ve been completely disconnected whilst in transit on the ship, it’s usually a requirement of shipping companies, but it seems that wasn’t done. So yes, likely it’s discharged too far. Had it been completely disconnected it probably would’ve been fine after the 3 month transit, will still have needed a jump start initially, but wouldn’t have kept failing.
Hi Eva, I was reading about this incredible castle in Poland that burned but was going to be brought back to former glory and now there is a possession legal battle going on that might be the end of its incredible history. Be cool to see it. Can't find the info or its name, dammit. Might be Drezewo or Drogosze?
Great to see another adventure. Thanks!
Just earned a new subscriber, solid work, excellent put together and organized. Thank you for the clear dedication to what you do.
My też odbieraliśmy w grudniu auto z Bremerhaven, ale koszt przesyłki 1200 dolarów z Texasu. Też czekaliśmy 3 miesiące, też w kontenerze do nas płynął. Super film. Pozdrawiam :)
Lovely to see you again. Glad you got back with Odyssey in one piece. I think a starter airpump pack would have been useful.
Good luck in 2024 and looking forward to seeing your adventures
Please buy a jump pack so you don’t get stranded. FYI, when a battery is dead for a long time (cross ocean boat trip) it needs to either be completely disconnected from the vehicle or the smallest drain will kill it. Once dead, sometimes even lead acid batteries are not able to charge and just need to be swapped for a new one.
Yay! So happy to see a new video ❤
Good to see you both together 🎉🎉❤
Crazy how well you speak German. I mean yes a lot of Poland people can speak but you pretty good.
Its amazing whe can speak polish, english, german, spanish...
@ she is polish and grew up in england and germany is next door
Nearly everyone outside of the USA speak multiple languages. Americans…. Not so much.
Much of Poland used to be German (Prussia).
@ She is a professional translator, and used to work as one before she started this RUclips channel.
Trix are for kids silly rabbit, just as cars without an ammeter/voltmeter. With an ammeter/voltmeter you can tell how the battery is performing while recharging. It's complicated so I won't explain it here. But since you drove 2 hours and still needed a jump start, I would diagnose the battery as needing to be replaced even though it did start later after being driven longer. You'll discover that in the next day or 2. It won't hold a charge overnight, especially if kept outside.
If you are striking out on a new adventure before spring then I suggest for your next European adventure that you go to any country with a clothing optional beach to warm up and dry out. There will be plenty of time in the summer to go north. Dubrovnik has an interesting history, and I've heard Montenegro has some good beaches. Or you could go down to the little island of Corfu to skip the snow. Exposure would do a lot to boost tourist economy in those out-of-the-way places.
I am glad you got your vehicle. The dead battery is no surprise to me. It is not unusual for problems to happen when a vehicle hasn't been run for months. A battery that will not hold a charge is not unusual after a few months of sitting. Becoming super drained can kill a regular car battery. Frankly I would have swapped the old battery (while checking the alternator too) for a new one while still in Germany. All that is needed is a few tools and about 4 or 6 minutes for the swap. Also I would have also changed the oil (and filter) and the anti freeze as both can be problematic after a vehicle has sat for months. If you had 2 sets of vehicle keys, in many places it would be okay legally to leave the engine running with the car doors locked while refueling as long as you are near the vehicle. That would have eliminated needing a jump start 2x. I remain curious if the battery started the vehicle the next morning. Glad you made it okay.
A happy reunion... congrats to you Eva and Odyssey :) Enjoy creating new memories together in the months and year(s) ahead... but don't forget to visit us out west in the USA again though one day (more rodeo's to watch haha)! Safe travels Eva & Vilk!
Happy New Year and Reunion from a fan in Colorado! I wish I could have done some adventuring like you have when I got out of the Army (47 years ago). YOU are a brave young lady. Happy your adventures work out for you...
Loved your video - and you made it to your destination!! Congratulations!!!
Why didn’t you just keep it running while you filled up? It is a diesel, trucks never turn their engines off to refuel
You should have just sold the truck, saved the shipping cost and headaches then bought another truck.
Is that how you do it on your channel?
Another great video. Your positive outlook in spite of adversity is to learn from. You are admired.
Missed your episodes and now enjoying watching again.
Cześć Ewunia, świetnie wyglądasz. Dużo zdrówka, spełnienia marzeń i samych sukcesów w Nowym Roku! :)
First rule for a car that never run for months; first, please check the car battery health after the first start, or replace it. Second, Service the engine oil, because after few weeks the engine oil will drained down to the car oil pan which will effect in the long run running the car dry. Check the coolant levels or condition, is it still ok?
Quick tips; disconnect the battery terminals when leaving the car for long time. If it happens you have a solar panels and a big battery in a car, take care of that too. Anything could happen.
Take care Eva.😊
It great to see you back
Here in Thailand I, and many others, fill the tank with the engine running. No one wants to turn of the air conditioning here.
Diesel engines generally use a high cranking Amp battery. Also the glow plugs draw a lot of power. Being in the dead of winter, plus being on a ship with the battery not being charged, especially if it hadn't been disconnected during the 3 months, it will be a problem. A good battery should be at 12.6 static charge, if it drops below that it rarely lasts. It would be a good idea to change the battery even if it seems ok now. Glad Oddessy got home safely!
Absolutely awesome adventure videos. I accidentally discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and have really enjoyed your western USA travels. I live on the east coast and have not traveled much out west. Your videos are very much an inspiration to do so now. Thank you!

Good to see you back.🦋
on our rental car road trip in May, we noticed Tourrettes sur Loup really stood out for twisty tiny roads (one direction loops, but most of our time was on fairly bland toll roads between Barcelona and San Remo Italy. Fun trip/ tight spaces in parking garages.
