    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 6 лет назад +3

      Yeah clean is nice and I never understood people buying new guitars that are so called relics makes no sense but I do understand buying a true 50s or 60s guitsr that is an actually relic because of the history and the tone on the older beat up guitars are just different I love those but again people just making and buying brand new 2107 2018 guitars that are relic on p urpose makes no sense lol but I def u nderstand buying a classic 100 percent

    • @BaconatorJames
      @BaconatorJames 5 лет назад +1

      Agreed. I've heard both sides to the argument, and I'm still not convinced that "new relics" are worth more than new. I get the price due to the amount of man-hours that go into these custom relics, but IMO, it's stolen valor. Wear and some cosmetic damage is supposed to happen, it's just dishonest to have a pre-relic'd guitar.

    I'm SIMPLY AMAZED. No, I AM ASTONISHED, that someone had the presence of mind to save the friggin' hang tags from a new guitar OVER 50 YEARS AGO! That's truly amazing. And, it sounds like something my dad would do. He still has EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF LITERATURE from his contact lenses he got in the 70's. His brother was a really prominent optometrist, and dad pretty much got the first pair sold in the U.S. I'm also amazed the owner had the presence of mind to order a Strat in a custom color. If a vintage Fender is a custom color, I want the headstock to match. I wish my '61 J-Bass was a custom color. Just listen to me, sounding greedy. I need slapped. Lol. I wonder why Fender never offered a matching 'burst headstock option, like they did solid colors? I don't even think they do that now, unless it's custom shop.

      @@dutchmcfadyen5867 probably does a little more than that. He probably works with new acquisitions, building relationships with high profile customers, managing the day to day activities (he doesn't just sell vintage guitars), and also works on big sales like this. It's a bit unfair to judge him just on the clothes he wears. Quite honestly, nobody buying a vintage guitar is going to be dressed in a suit. Those people buy steinways, not fenders or gibsons.

    You can't have enough early telecasters in almost new condition. The telecasters sound was undeniable, and to my ears, has as good of a sound as one can ask for. The real question is, should it be installed in a show case, vault, or played. My vote is play her and let her have the life she was ment to have. How sad to have a silent instrument, in the end mother nature will take care of it all.

      Haha! You joke but that actually happened! For real!
      On the Strat Talk forum, there is guy who got a '62 just like that. A repairman/luthier in 1987 turned this guitar into a superstrat, complete with UGLY sparkle paint, Kahler trem, a replacement lead pickup, the neck GLUED in and the holes filled. Not only that the dude had the guy stamp his name and the fact that is was a '62 right into the back of the headstock! Plus the guy who got it opened the trem cavity only to see it was originally lake Placid blue! and the neck (once it was free) and pickup dates of the middle and neck were legit. Luckily it's new owner restored it completely to as stock as he could get and back to the blue. It's now a beaut! But still.. dude could have bought a superstrat for the money.. ugh.. true story!

    Joe Bonamassa , true to the cause Fender amplifiers, thank God for a true artist, I only owned a few Vintage Guitars and amplifiers a 1959 Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul Standard a 1968 Reissue, a Blackface Fender Twin-Reverb, a Bandmaster, small Champ, Dual-Showman a Martin Om-28 Still have it, which is a 000-28 bought and sold lots of musical equipment, today in the studio these 30 year old do not know how to use the volume and tone pots on the guitar unbelievable that they can not control the instrument from these knobs It just boogles the mind that these guys never took out the time to learn the basic electronics of a Les Paul, Stratocaster, Telecaster, They are more collecters than players I guess they never had the experience of playing with others in a band, best learning experience ever the business is in trouble I know this because there are very few venues left in which to perform, Great to see and hear some like you from upstate N.Y. now in Calif.and loved the piece Nerdville ,USA Keep the blues and R&R Alive Thank You for keeping the tradition alive, And you get to make a living doing something you really love, Norman Harris what can I say makes great deals with working musicians

    According to uncle stack knob at Fender FDP forum.
    They did NOT REPAINT SUNBURST FINISHES WITH CUSTOM COLOURS IN THE U.K.
    Initially Fender guitars were imported by Jennings,the Vox makers,of Dartford in Kent,and they advertised them in a simple catalogue.
    By late '62 the amplifier makers and retail shop Selmers offerred them. Selmers had a small factory in Holborn as well where amps and the like were made.
    If you search for the vintage Hofner site you will find accounts in there from original employees of Selmers at the Holborn factory location,incuding a hand-drawn floorplan of the place.THERE WERE NO SPRAY FACILITIES.
    Over the many years,various nefarious dealers have advocated the stupid story that the refinishing did occur,and they claim Selmers' did it.This of course has been to explain away the refinished instruments they had done themselves,and were trying to create credibility. The "Selmer refinish" as it has come to be known is a joke more than anything else,and usually appears in a very salmony pink fiesta red,thickly applied.They can be spotted a mile away.
    Just a side note,

    Considering necessary truss rod adjustments, is it possible the neck’s never been off?
