    He moves in the pocket better than Mac and throws the ball with more velocity to his receivers

      this is the biggest difference. Zappe drives his throws. Mac usually softly lays his throws. Those fractions of a second for the ball to get to the receiver is huge. Hopefully the obvious now QB competition brings out the best of both players

      My biggest criticism of Mac. His throws are just lobbed up, no velocity at all. It gives defenders all the time in the world to block or intercept it.

      Zappe holds the college record for passing yards and passing touchdowns. He is certainly not afraid to throw the football.

      @@edgardorivera8857 I hate stat idiots like you. I didn’t say we WERE throwing the ball down field more than Mac, I said it feels like we CAN do that. Bailey has more zip on the ball and accuracy to go with it. Not to mention a lot of the playcalling has been short passes to get Zappe up to speed, a whole year + with Mac and we could never get past that point. We will be able to with Zappe.

    Zappe's passes are amazingly diverse. He's got touch, he's got speed, he's got the bombs, and he's smart in the pocket and on the run. 70 passes, 51 completions, 4 of which are TD, and only one pic. Really great stats for an off the bench rookie. And in his very first game off the bench he took it to OT against GB. I like Mac Jones, but Zappe is just amazingly impressive.

      @@benji24palomar He's an overall better QB based off what I've seen than Mac Jones will be. He's faced adversity already coming from WKU. The entire team is playing well around him. The Energy is different

      He’s solid for a backup, but he’s not doing anything crazy, he’s just throwing short passes to wide ass open receivers (credit to the coaching staff).

    His mobility and comfort under pressure actually give plays a chance to develop. Mac always had a quick trigger and seemed uncomfortable moving in the pocket.

    His pocket awareness and the way he stepped up (the last play in the video) fired a bullet to I think Meyers was absolutely beautiful. That is probably something you won’t see Mac do. Plus the velocity he puts on these throws is just wow.

      I just don't see "velocity." He doesn't float as many balls as Mac, but his arm appears to be an average NFL arm.

    Theres no way they can go back to Mac. This kid is too good. Moves well in the pocket, accurate, scans the field, making things happen. The Interception wasn't his fault. Macs been turning the ball over,and looks out of sorts this year.

    Mac jones is a 200 yrd / 1 TD / 1 INT / kind of guy. Zappe put up 300+ yards and 2 TDs in his second start. We were lucky half the teams were banged up or we wouldn't have made it to the playoffs last yr. Let the kid play and see what he can do against some better Ds.

    excited to see how Mac performs with this new and improved playcalling and team cohesion. Don't get me wrong, Zappe has been far better than any of us could've hoped, but we're also a better team now than Mac was dealing with at the beginning of the season.
    Now, if Mac performs poorly upon returning, then I think Zappe coming in could be more of a conversation. But for now, Mac is still QB1 and there's not really any controversy

      This is just my opinion but Zappe is good and I can see him getting even stronger with more experience every week, but I believe Mac won't play any better then he already is, and I like Zappe's mature attitude and want to win drive, and Im tired of Mac's adolescent goofiness

    Zappe looks good in this offense and better than Jones. The kid has great footwork for a rookie. If im Jones i would feel threatened by this kids moxy to play the game.

    Kid looked really good out there, his poise is what really stood out, it didn’t seem like there was a moment too big for him. It’s a small sample size and he needs to do it for more than one game but I was very impressed with my first impression

    Zappe is still a Raw product. BUT he has a more intuitive feel for the game than the robotic Mac. He finds secondary receivers better than Mac. And he has an arm that is 50% stronger than Mac. Don't give up on this kid.

    Zappe throws a nice catchable ball. Hate to say it really reminds me of Brady when he took over for Bledsoe. Looks better than Mac. I never saw anything great from Mac. He looks like a solid NFL backup.

    Zappe is accurate, can extend plays with his legs, can throw deep, and doesn't panic under pressure in the pocket. Mac is a good QB but Bailey is better.

    Let's hope Zappe gets one more shot against the Bears. So far he has played against average defenses. If he maintains his poise (not necessarily wins) against a good defense, then we will have a QB controversy. Right now this is Mac Jones' team and at his first failure, Zappe will replace him, possibly even mid-game.

      lol yup its kind of funny. But Bill is going to make this kid a very good player. Hr is a great talent who slipped through the cracks. Its easy to see he is a gifted passer and goes through reads well. Bullets too. noy bombs he throws bullets in tight windows too.

    Zappes a naturally gifted Football player that will likely get even better . The problem with Mac is that we've seen what we're going to get . In Football you're either great or you're not as it's mostly a natural gifted talent no matter how much you practice and Macs hit close to his ceiling .

    That last play of the video was incredible awareness and movement in the pocket by zappe, mac woulda tried rolling to his right and woulda ended up throwing it away, or he woulda been sacked. Mac needs to learn how to step into the pocket and deliver throws like that just like what zappe did there.

      I actually like it for this new offense better because it reminds of the offense scheme Western Kentucky used in (air raid). I see some similarities to an air raid offense based off of personnel. He reminds me the better version of Jimmy G.

      This is the one thing nobody mentions I’m like the guy has played well but he had good protection and the browns have a good pass rush too. When patriots play an elite team that’s when we will see what zappe is about if he is still the starter.
