That "Momma Can You Hear Me" Sample! 🔥🔥🔥
shitz had me dissapointed he didnt flip that
@@grimeyneedle1527 Word! Me Too!
I honestly thought he was going to actually used the part that says "Momma can you head me!" and just loop with as a vocal sample! ima kinda shocked that he didn't!
Kanye would have killed that sample
Solomon Childs used that sample
Still looking forward to seeing Pete Rock, Premo, Alchemist and Madlib. Record chopping legends.
Those are all quite secretive people, we'll never get episodes out of them
^^
Can’t wait
there is a video somewhere of alchemist making a beat with his asr-10
that would be so dope!! my all-time favorite producers listed up there
This is why he's a legend. Major salute
The Kid still got it
@DJ THINK realdjthink true true
Soon as Mass Appeal left his spot .. that 2nd Barry Manilow sample got FLIPPED . Legendary Episode from a Hip Hop Legend
As someone that makes little beats in my spare time, watching Capri effortlessly banging out them drums was both inspiring and emasculating at the same time
I know what you mean about emasculating, but I think a better way of describing it was just being in the presence of greatness, a humbling moreso. You still got ya essence as a man you just know where you are.
🤣🤣🤣 Exactly
pause
😂😂😂😂
Def fire and I know he had to play with the sounds he had but I gotta think he's made a similar pattern before with different drums. If not even more impressive, either way its def super dope.
When Kid Capri smiles when he finds a dope sample, you just feel it!! Props to the legend.
salute
Best Rhythm Roulette in quite some time. Although I was really hoping he'd use something from all 3 records on one track. I miss the when they used to do that.
That’s the real definition of rhythm roulette, otherwise it’s just production … I just got 200 used records from my local shop for $10. Rnb,soul, country, orchestral, soundtracks, rock from the 50’s through the 70’s and some progressive trippy stuff……. I’m doing just that. Three blind choices, everything in the beat needs to be from all three records….. even if it’s just a stab. I love making fully original non sampled beats but when it’s sample based I like to do it the old way… it’s way more fun and sharpens your skills.
His drumwork is outstanding!
That beat was hard!! Kid Kapri is a black belt at this!! Bring these kinda beat and rhymes back please 🙏
I agree cause we need that grimy boom bap style to comeback to hip hop with classic soul samples just like how Pete rock, Prince Paul, Large professor, and so many other producers that made that style what it is today.
Ok that sample and flip was dope. I am most impressed by his natural groove laying those drums! ON POINT! Phew!
Absofuckinglutely, THAT (his natural groove) is definitely one of the standout aspects of what he brings and brought to the table here. It's the key element that makes and made ALL the difference and sets someone like him apart from the rest IMO. Right outta the gate, the moment he started playing em', it was instant deep pocket head bob!!! And again, keyword here, "natural"..
He is also a drummer
That Barry Manilow sample is Chopin Prelude in C Minor, a 181 year old classic
Chopin is underrated! He's got some beautiful tracks.
@@chocolatemoose7761 Chopin was another young genius that died too soon from partying too hard. Or tuberculosis.
@@drsetherz Chopin died because of tuberculosis.
Which was sampled for Brotha Lynch Hung also
When you get legends on here. It's A whole different vibe.
Right? It’s SO much different than the young dudes who in some cases barely know what they’re doing 😂
Mass Appeal should do their own version of the "Crate Diggers" series on vinyl record collectors talking about their collections with each episode running for at least one hour :]
Lyrically driven beat. The right MC takes it to the next level and it becomes a classic. Nice!
Bro Kid just cooked up some fire real quick. He’s a legend
What happens on earth stays on earth! Shoutout Kid Capri this is one of my favorite episodes in a minute
salute
The full set of skills on display right here. I'd love to hear this man work on the other two records, but he took the hard way and produced fire.
How many of yall gonna sample that Barry right after this video. 🙌
✋🏾✋🏾🤣🤣🤣🤣
Black Marcella is
gotta' chop up that "mama" song
Oh I was on it brodi 💯 🔥
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
OK, 3 important things to note:
- He actually had a 1210 to sample off, not a last minute, I need some form of record playing device, $40 WallMart purchase!
- He actually chopped the sample apposed to simply looping and adding some effects.
- He knew all the artists on the records! I know thats not a major achievement as these were not obscure records BUT 2 words, Donny Hathaway!!!!!
Salute to the legend Kid Capri. You did the format (and Barry) proud!
Oi when are you going to make some more videos?
@@JP-dv7rf he's busy typing RUclips comments
@Mass Appeal it's time to let the British gawd @SiSpex on a Mass Appeal episode. Take the show international. The streets want it!
@@JP-dv7rf Have been tempted to do a new RR. Maybe in the new year.
@@jaykay360 Would love the opportunity to do an official one! Especially as my first ever official release was the UK remix of Nas's Ain't hard to tell! I'm ready and willing if anyone from@Mass Appeal wants to get in touch!
This went hard. Favorite RR beat in a while.
salute
No it really did because when the song/sample/beat/chop whatever music stops playing you want to hear it again. That's ART!
Salute and thank you for everything! @Kid Capri
That sample was used on Busta Rhymes - Make It Clap. But he flipped this sick.
Kid Capri came through and found one of the most illest sample finds on Rhythm Roulette. Nice beat as well
finally, another respected producer... we need more!!
He came with his A game and struck gold. Salute to the legend
that Jay-Z”it’s like that yo” beat off Hard knock life is an all time fave.
This was so fire, a legend making art.
Kid Capri a real Legend. I been listening to some of his old Mixtapes he released back in the late 80s on cassettes lately to get some ideas for my mixtapes. you can find them on RUclips and they like some Hip Hop time capsules for reals and that beat sound crazy ill!! always a blessing to watch a Legend work!!
As soon as he grabbed that Barry Manilow, I knew that was gonna be the sleeper! 🤣🤣 What I love about hip-hop is that it can take inspiration from anything. 🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥
Love seeing the legends show their process. Its mainly due to their enthusiasm while still exercising their talents. Ill! Salute to Kid Capri and Mass Appeal!!!
It’d be dope to see House Shoes on Rhythm Roulette
You see the difference in a real Dj approach?
He didnt got with that momma sample because it could have gotten to busy,a dope flip and chop though for a persona record or something but he chose the easy chords because it has space and straight to the point which most club hits are, easy and straight-to the point.Dope
salute
The minute I saw he had Barry manilo I knew it was gonna be his pick! He is a true wealth of amazing samples.
This beat is definitely top 5 of Rythme Roulette so far.
Top5 off his personality alone!
Top 10 maybe, not 5 sorry….
9th wonder
Hi-Tek
Dj Khalil
Beat Butcha
Nottz
Large Professor
Ski beatz
The 2 semi autistic guys (take a daytrip)
A$AP dude
Kid Capri
You buggin 😂
9th wonder araabmuzik and ski probably were my favorite beats up here honestly.. this was fire tho. Kid capri dont get enuff credit as a producer either.. I'm more into the actual techniques these guys are using than the actual finished product most of the time. But beatwise those were probably my top 5
Nice to see him on the Maschine Studio , that is what I got as well . Most the Vets use the MPC ! Love to have the chance to see these legends work !! Thank you Mass Appeal !!
That finger drumming was 10001%
If ANYTHING, it just goes to show. You NEVER know what another artist may have. Barry gots some FIRE on that album.
This was dope! Capris' production skills are slept on. He even produced "5 Fingers of Death" for Diamond D. You have to be crazy nice to produce for a great producer!
listen to capris new album called 'the love'
Listening to 5 Fingers of Death right now and all i can say is that if you didn't know it was a kid capri joint you would think its a showbiz joint, sounds so like show production
I would have never thought that Barry Manilow had those types of samples. I've been sampling for a long time, and I don't think I've ever checked out Barry Manilow.
The crate gods blessed tha Kid with his album selection, and he slayed it with the odd ball in the batch. 🔥👑🔥
This one was top notch. Capri has got hip hop written all over him. Love
salute
Those drums go crazyyyy. so simple but powerful
The Kiiiid Capri he laced this straight Fyah salute to the Legend 🔥🔥🔥
appreciate it. salute
Best new one so far hands down
salute, appreciate that
I been smiling this whole episode!!!! Let’s go kid
to smile is a lifestyle
Kid Capri is the reason why I started making music. Thank you!
This is what sampling is all about.
Nah this been best one I seen in a while. OG !
Again kid capri is the best of all time if your reading this kid Capri, let me know when you’re doing parties in New York. I’m in
Really glad this series is back!
str8dope- I thought you were going to add That vocal of Barry- Nice work Kid!
Never knew he produced..and did this effortlessly in under 20 minutes

Nice!!! Tha Legend himself . Kid Capri. Thx for this!!

This is proof that some of the best producers are also DJs. They spend countless hours listening to amazing music and know what moves people.

@@KidCapriOfficial Salute king
As a Maschine User it’s Kool to see a legend like Kid Capri making his entire beat in the Maschine Software…

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting you in 2004 in Hawaii.
You were a gracious and humble celebrity and it’s an honor that you responded to my comment.
Miracles & Blessings and keep inspiring Dancers, Rappers, DJ’s and Producers…
Yeasss sirrrrrr Kiiiiiid Capriiiiii on tha beat, bout time y’all had someone who can make bangers
So simple, straight to the point really. From the melody you could start formulating a flow. Everything else is butter! KiD being Legendary like always
appreciate that
Hey Me from the UK, I am a seasoned Break Beat Collector from the early 19890's, that Grand funk Album definitely dope and was used on a Masta Ace album.
the excerpt kid capri ended up sampling from barry manilow is directly taken from a rachmaninoff piece (inspired by chopin). so so so cool to see that kind of stuff brought back to life after like 200 years!
mad respect for this men over here ✊
When I’m dictator, every producer will have to sample Barry Manilow at least once.
the first DJ I ever really admired...he had it all..the swagger the look the skills to pay the bills
The best part of the beat, is his flow. Producers today have no flow, and this is a lesson for all.
Nice looking Juno106 there.
drum programming on this is nice
Kinda sounds like something your picture would feast on. DOOM
"shout out hip hop, salute everybody" 💯🔥🔥🔥
And all my years are living I never knew he was a producer, unbelievable He's truly the best DJ ever to me
I love when y'all bring on the legends on....grew up idolizing these cats. Bx finest🔥
Now kids. This is what we call a hip hop DJ ... and a veteran at that. Once this video is done, search for "kid capri, Jazzy Jeff, Grandmaster Flash and DJ premier Jam master jay tribute."That performance is the stuff I would play for an alien or anyone who asked me to define hip hop.
That beat was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the best episode and beat in the longest time.
Mans mastered his craft, it comes across as effortless how he put this together
Man stop it that beat was weak and he only made one compared to 9th ect this was trash
@@beatsbyloony419 I mean yeah 9th is still up there for me too but this was still solid imo
Just learned that the start of 3:16 was used in Make it Clap by Busta Rhymes. Could it be magic.
Ok, I’m not crazy. I knew I heard it!! 😊
Excellent K CAPRI
Kid Capri is a hella underrated producer
bros voice tone alone is legendary
Yessir....And when that bassline came in at the very end...Flamethrower! Salute, Legend!

Yo this is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥...this blows away some.of the recent episode with these new cats...truly a master...beat is sick if you a lover of boom bap 💯👊🏾👑

The Soundtrack to the Streets is a Masterpiece
Much love from Cologne Kid ✌
I have a new album THE LOVE that is out now. Check it out!
The beat in the beginning is actually a Buckwild beat. Kid Capri was just featured on the Big L track
Can you guys please continue this RUclips series , the culture needs this!!!
