I disagree a little bit, I agree that they are really really good for frame swaps they aren't best, The best is the Mid 70's-mid 80's Full size/Wagon frames, they are also the same width as the Post War-Space Age cars but the wheel base is so close you don't have to modify much of the frame or the bodies much if at all, generally all you have to do is chop off an inch or 2 off the front, Plus they already sit lower than an S-10 so you don't have to spend the money to lower them, plus most of them came with a Bigger V6 or Small block V8 so you don;t have to engine swap them either because the stock powertrain has plenty of power already compared to the 4 Cylinder or Small V6 engine that comes with the S-10 so your saving money on that also. One of the guys in my car club took a 54 Chevy Fleetwood body and put it on a 81 Lesabre Frame and had to do VERY Little mods to either to put them together, he had to cut an inch and half off the front of frame and he to heighten the front of the rear wheel structor of the body 3/4 of an inch, he litterally did the entire build minus the paint and body over a l4 day weekend and drove it to work on Tuesday and spent less than a $500 including the paint and body because he put everything on Facebook Marketplace and recouped most of the money back.
I wonder if the lower A arm is longer on the 4x4. You may be able to use longer A arms on a 2x4. It's an easy fix for the rear. Put a zr2 rear end under in. They are about 3" wider than a standard 4x4 s10 rear end and you get an upgrade from the 7.5 to and 8.5" rear end with disk brakes.
Do you still need the 4x4 trans when doing the 4x4 frame swap after making it 2wd without the front diff? Why you didn't choose a crown vic chassis vs the s10?
I have a 1940 Buick straight 8 coupe and I have a s10 ext cab 2 wheel drive Is that doable or am I gonna run it into trouble? I understand the frame isn’t going to fit the cars trunk and I might have to cut the trunk floor out and I don’t like the sound of that
Actually this truck I'm using in this, is going to be used for my 1940 Pontiac which is really close to that Buick. But I'll marry the frames, and only use the front section of this 4wd (cut at the torsion bar x-member), and then I'll re-set the rear leafs & spring perches on this S10 rearend to use it under the stock Pontiac frame section. The 2wd is still a little narrow up front, but do-able with the wider front tires/wheels if it's all you have. But even with it, I'd marry the frames. If you look back at my 1st videos you can see where I did that with a 1939 Chevy (also very close) but my father wanted the "dirt track" stance with that one, with the tires at the very edge of the fenders.... so I used the sub frame and rearend from a Nova. hope that helps and thanks for stopping by man.
Had some technical difficulties and what not pop up, but it's all good now, thanks a million for stopping by Pete! Hoping all the best for you and Minnie as well.
Just watch one of your videos from 9 months ago where you rest your fuel lines with rubber hose I am having the same problem I did that today and also remove the thermostat I'll be testing out tomorrow's I just wondering what your outcome was😊
On that '68 Mercury? It actually did really good in the Summer Heat here, I was really surprised! If that didn't work, than I was going to buy one of those fuel filters with the 3rd nipple on them and run a return line off it back to the tank, or put an electric pump in it and do away with the mechanical one, because that's actually where the fuel boils is inside the mechanical fuel pump. Hope that helps.
Way cool man, I think that is the short bus right? If so I'd look for a "square body" Chevy Suburban (73-89). The good news is you don't give a crap about the body so you can still find those on the cheep. Hope that helps my friend.
You bet McDaniel & thanks for watching man! That white '57 Dodge truck in the other video on this is actually a ton & a half dually as well! The cab & fenders are nearly identical to the '55 (and I'm actually going to use a '55 nose/grill & hood on that one) and it's nearly identical to the 4wd track width of the 1st gen S10's. So I'd highly recommend the 4wd with that one. Not only for that, but it does give you a lot more options to change things a bit without hurting things. Hope that helps and I look forward to hearing you got it on the road man!
@@BareRoseGarage thanks a lot man going to keep my eyes out for a 1st gen. got the old himi out of it if u know anyone looking for that would like to put that money in to a 440 that I got needs camed and rebuilt.

Great information, brother. I have always wanted a 51 mercury.

Just saw your video, what years of the S-10 4x4 extended cab best for a swap on a 50 Chevy 3600.
Never tell your cat to be quiet unless you want him to sit on your face at 3:00 AM.

I have a 1961chevy c30 suburban/custom cabworks school bus, what would be the best chassis to swap to if I want something heavy duty and 4x4?

@BareRoseGarage Yeah it's an interesting rig for sure! Thank you though I will keep an eye out and see what I can come up with.
Ford 6.4 frame they're dirt cheap
How hard would it be to do a 2wd to 4wd swap. How hard to swap front subframe
Thank u for these videos. I got a 55 dodge dulley dose it still fit the 4x4 s10 frame? Or would u recomend something eles?
