Thanks Crystal! Just an idea for you or anyone who would like to try it... I liked the look of this hat, but i wanted a hole for a ponytail or bun at the top, so i skipped the first 2 rounds and instead i single crocheted 24 stitches around a ponytail elastic and picked up your tutorial at round 3 and continued till the end. It turned out beautiful with a nice hole on top to pull hair through. Just thought I would share my idea here with others. Thank you for this hat design!

I wanted to let you know how happy I am with this pattern and many of your other patterns. I made a few of these hats and thought I’d like to share with some of our homeless people I’ve seen around town. This morning was my first give. I felt so sorry for this guy. He was on the corner wearing a sweatshirt hoodie pullover. I gave him the hat and a little change. He put the hat on right away. I’m sure he was cold. This week has been raining and has been as low as 30 something. This made me feel so good that I could at least do that much. I wish I could do more.

I have found you to be the absolute BEST teacher of any others, and I have made this beanie at least a dozen times. SO cute with a pompom, too! This was the very first thing I crocheted that didn't involve straight edges - it was this video that taught and gave me the confidence to crochet in the round. Most importantly, it was you who finally taught me how to read my stitches, something I struggled with for quite a long time. I am so grateful to have found your videos. Thank you!!

I found that I needed the brim to be a little smaller so I added another round of single crochets with decreases; however, this time I worked 8 single crochets and then worked the decrease and did that the whole way around. I then added another row of single crochets all around. My hat looks and fits great. Thank you for this great pattern!

A little tip to avoid the huge gaps from the front post double crochet stitches:
Double crochet 2 together in between the fpdc and the normal stitches except those done with the increases. I did them in all no increase areas and have no gap at all 😊

I'm making this hat now and I only have 46 stitches not 48 will this be a problem in the end? I already frogged twice to get the right count. I started over and I'm on track this time, can't wait to finish it.

Hey Crystal? I made this hat following your tutorial and ended up with a huge hat 24"around and 10" long. Any ideas? I used the hook you said and used red heart super saver 4. Thank you

I also have a hat that is to large.

Natalie and Jamal: You two apparently crochet looser than Crystal does. To make this hat, you'll either have to use a smaller crochet hook, or fewer stitches. Check the circumference of any hat when you have finished the increase rounds. That will tell you what the circumference will be as you continue to crochet the sides. Crystal's border made the final rounds smaller. An adult hat should be 1-1/2 to 2 in. smaller around than the head measurement.

@@voyager9028 thanks but I don't crochet lose it wasn't that, I dont like lose crochet never have. But thank you for your suggestion. I just made other hats I gave up on this one.
