I would have rather watched Memphis wrestling any day than NWA or WWF. It was by far the best. Loved watching it every Saturday morning. I’m old enough to remember wrestling on Channel 13 before it went to Channel 5. What memories!!!
Dutch Savage was the guy up in Portland, Oregon who invented the insanely sadistic Coal Miners Glove Match. The winner was legally allowed to use a loaded Coal Miners Glove on the loser. Think about Ted DiBiase in Georgia or MidSouth circa 1984 being LEGALLY allowed to use his own Loaded Glove as a Weapon with his cunning mind at the time!😂😖🥊B.W.
And that's why they call him, Dirty Dutch Mantell, I'll never forget the night Dutch and Dick Murdoch picked me up and threw me out of their "Heels Only" meeting at OSJ Hooters.
All,, gone now not,, same David Brown looks good on,,awe,, old,, wrestling great memories still there miss,, them all keep up good work keep making them keep order them all love them all God bless them all
2:34 Lawler made it look like he absolutely shitwhipped him with that right hand lol. Back when wrestling was wrestling & even basic moves looked strong. Both of these men were great.
They say you don't quit the wrestling business the wrestling business quits you. Both of these guys were fortunate enough to continue there careers long after they had to stop wrestling. they made the business a lot better for sticking around too.
Another double cross perpetrated on Lawler at Lance's announcing table. you would think lawyer would've learned to avoid going anywhere near that table by this point.
Yeah and No for me. I get they have no rules but a referee that can help build the tension of the paychology without gaining too much attention is a job well done. It's annoying when your older but when I was a young mark. It was relieving to see my guy get a respite a chance to swing back. Or confirm my fears they might be hurt bad. It's just another step in the dance really.
My ass would be going like a rabbits nose at the thought of calling a spot in that ring. Wonder what punishment was given for calling audibles back in the kayfabe days.
WWE happened. Vince was notorious in the days before Steve Austin at making guys with a strong southern accent tone it down, particularly on commentary. According to Bruce Prichard, when Vince hired Tony Schiavone for a short spell in the early 90's, Vince thought he had too much of a southern accent. I believe that's also part of the reason he was so back and forth with Jim Ross in the beginning.
I like some athletic wrestling, but sometimes you just want to watch a match where it looks like two dudes are trying to beat the crap out of each other. This delivered in spades.
Wrestling championship belts were so tiny and ghetto looking back then during the territory days.. or jerry-rigged. I heard a story about how the AWA championship belt Verne Gagne wore was built by a guy in a Colorado state prison.

The bumps these guys take are just incredible. Midwest and Southern territory wrestling was just incredible.
What memories this brings back. I loved watching these matches on Saturday .
I grew up on Chicago wrestling but I'm glad the internet's here so I can watch these classic shows from the south.
Now this is a great old school professional wrestling match!
This match is mostly trading punches and tying up... And it looks better than pretty much everything All Petite Wrestling does.
Long live Dirty Dutch Mantel! These were solid, solid days for Memphis wrestling. 🇺🇸🙏💙💪✊👑
Now that’s wrasslin’.
Dutch was a savage!
I see what you did. There was a worker named Dutch Savage

Dirty Dutch Mantell, one of my favorite wrestlers of all time!!
And that's why they call him, Dirty Dutch Mantell, I'll never forget the night Dutch and Dick Murdoch picked me up and threw me out of their "Heels Only" meeting at OSJ Hooters.
You should hit up his email and see if he remembers on his podcast ask dutch anything
This was great! It had that raw gritty feel and was completely believable.
CWA wrestling in Memphis! NOW that WAS wrestling!!!
Miss this wrestling
All,, gone now not,, same David Brown looks good on,,awe,, old,, wrestling great memories still there miss,, them all keep up good work keep making them keep order them all love them all God bless them all
Nice classic superb world wrestling match
Honestly don't know how old it is. But the double cross got me bad hahaha. Still holds up well.
@@xPadge112x hmm good good dear
Man, I wish these 2 were in NXT training! WOW! JUST WOW!
How different this looks than anything today. They had more intensity and believability in their opening tie up than in anything I've seen in AEW.
Aew isn’t a wrestling company...Aew is a woke joke clown show
In AEW? What about wwbore?🤣🤣 wwbore has been boring for the last 20 years
@@SilverWealth_Draper_Mint and wwbore is?🤣 I hope you realize as well that wwbore has been boring the last 20 years.
Rent free.
@@theonemrtom101 literal whataboutism at work. AEW fans can't handle it when someone doesn't like their trash TV show 🤡🤡🤡
Ol Dutch was quick in the day
😂😂😂
I don't watch any wrestling today I watch these matches from when wrestling was good
Dutch has the best interviews on youtube
Happy 75th Birthday Dutch
Dutch Mantel showing some Randy Savage like athleticism at 3:45 with that hop over the top rope to the floor. Very smooth.
Never trust a man covered from head to toe with fur! Lawler was way too trusting of Dutchie, his lips were moving, therefore he was lying! 🤣🤣🤣
2:34 Lawler made it look like he absolutely shitwhipped him with that right hand lol. Back when wrestling was wrestling & even basic moves looked strong. Both of these men were great.
Anyone know the year of this match? Wow so much better than anything today.
Lance would go ‘Oh come on?!!!’ every week😂
the hair on dutch is scarier than anything YIKES!
Awesome 😎💯😎 thanks
Great match,!
Love watching hairy chest men.
watch this children, now tell me modern wrestling is even close
I always wondered why Mantell wrestled with that "fur coat" on.

Dirty Dutch . He was a great heel
Tremendous scientific match.
The most scientific closed fist match ever!
I always hated the fact that during no rules matches and the ref always gets involved like it is a regular match
Kind of ruins it
Yeah and No for me.

You know it's rasslin when a punch gets a 2 count
Great stuff!
Memphis ring stairs=folding chair 💺
Never heard of Dutch Mantell until he appeared on WWE TV as a manager. Damn he’s a furry S.O.B. Looks like the back of George Steele.
Who had more body fur Dutch Mantel or George the animal Steele? 🤔
The Animal was a school teacher.
@@truthhurtswilky7785- I knew that. 🤣
My ass would be going like a rabbits nose at the thought of calling a spot in that ring. Wonder what punishment was given for calling audibles back in the kayfabe days.
Usually a fine, especially if said audible was heard by either the crowd in attendance or the people watching at home.
Back when real men were wrestler's not the Male Cheerleaders we got today
that's a good match right there
Two larger than life figures!
THIS is how you do an angle!!!
Back in highschool we had lights out match's in the bathroom. With the football players the yr was 1981we got in trouble
What year was this?
Thinking 82 or 83
Damn Dutch looks like a sasquatch lol
That was a nasty folding chair to the head.
11:44
This shit was Epic!
Holy hell. Dutch looks like he's wearing a sweater.
That's some fucking hair on that mans back
What happened to Lawyer’s accent?

Jerry Calhoun is that a 10 count
m
Dutch and Jerry were both very hairy wrestlers front and back
Dutch + Jerry = Albert
Dutch wins hands down on the furry contest
Rare face vs face match.
I thought this was a Mantell heel turn. I can’t remember how it resolved though
@matthewgabbard6415 ultimately they ended up teaming, a couple of weeks or so later.
Good pile driver
Dutch looks like he's wearing a black t-shirt 😆😅😭😂🤣
untouched stuff
I was hoping Jeryy showed color

Lol, Dutch was a scumbag, love it. He had me.
Dutch vs a razor
Why do they call it wrestling they just fighting 🤔
.😮
Yay Dutch
I forgot how hairy Dutch was. 😊
Dutch shaved his arms [up to shoulder] and his legs 🦵 are shaved? Very odd look with a hairy back 😂. Go all hairy if u keep back hair? I😢
dutch was hairy
SIKE!
Dutch’s punches looked bad. Other wise he was great.
Still miles above todays guys
The pre steroids and weight training era.
