+TraderJack641 true in Atlanta we had a Saturday evening show with joe pedicino & Bonnie blackstone that went from 7pm -3am. Even with wwf & nwa shows Memphis & world class stood out to me. They were a terrific promotion one of the best imo. Thanks for posting these
+dare2727 A buddy of mine told me about that show, as he used to stay up and watch it. I could only dream of having something like that to watch on an antenna where I lived in NW Mississippi.
They weren't the 1st to do that. They used concepts from other companies that most fans never saw. CWA stop being somewhat innovative after the Concession stand brawl which they used too many times because they couldn't book good shows right.
Loved this.Spike Huber was great but misused here.Blown spot looks like in the Wildside match.WTH they messed up that spike piledriver.I wish they would have had him do a few more weeks of this.Classic
Ronnie P was on to something. In 1989 the Packers finished 2nd as they tied with the Vikings but lost the tiebreaker & missed the playoffs, though in fairness they finished 10 & 6.The Yankees finished 74-87(did not makeup a game with the worst team in the league the White Sox) finishing 5th out of 7 barely ahead of the 6th place Indians.
I guess Memphis will never come back. Once Jerry Lawler went to the W.W.F. and took the top talent with him. Vince turned him into a joke. Vince hates southern wrestling.
+Allen Woodall Yep, McMahon hates what made wrestling great, hence his new term for it. There have been a number of Memphis promotions tried since the end of the USWA in late 1997, but none have been able to really take root. Sadly, the territory days (like we knew them) are likely forever gone.
@@TraderJack641 yes it is a sad time for a business we love. I was fortunate enough to work in USWA when Eric Embry had the book and even though the paydays were lacking it was some of the best times I had in the business. You get in this business because you love wrestling or at least it used to be that way. So being able to work with Dr.Tom, TOJO, ERIC, JACKIE , DWB, KONG, REGGIE B FINE , JJ, ROBERT FULLER, LAWLER, DUNDEE, DUTCH, KOKO WARE, Danny Davis and many more who were truly some of the best workers in the business. And I cant leave out Eddie Gilbert and Brickhouse Brown ( RIP ) my brothers and I love you all and I will never forget the way yall helped me in the business .
Ronnie p gosset is gold on the microphone
Wow I didn't know that mark Starr and Chris champion were brother's. Rest in peace Mark and Chris.
Yes Mark passed away first then Chris had a massive stroke.. breaks my heart. I loved Chris
I liked them.borh. i liked Chris when he teamed with Sean
Great concept let the main heel run the show for the day. Memphis was such ahead of the curve & truly great promotion
+dare2727 Memphis still pioneered a number of concepts after 1988, but by this time they were largely going downhill and just trying to survive.

@@Blacattacsquadron that was before my time, thanks for the education
Brickhouse Brown came back with some extensions In😂
You wonder If Ronnie did "favors" for certain wrestlers.
RIP Chris Champion and Mark Starr...aka Ashford-Smith
Ronnie P really really liked young men with good bodies. And you know what I'm talking about.
Jeff Jarrett's hair vs. Dirty White Boy's armpit hair. I wonder who was in charge of cutting that...
Mark Starr could pass as RVD's brother. I know that Chris Champion is Mark's real life brother.
I remember thinking the same thing when I saw Mark Starr! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
They look really good here after that horrible run in the NWA. They learned their lesson after being jerks and difficult to work with in the NWA.
Black Bart "95%" for me "15%" for the other.Gives a new meaning to the phrase 110%
Did Rough and Ready ever win a match
Runny P Gossett looks and sounds a fat Joe Biden , this was great wrestling back in the day.
I remember watching this the morning this was aired that Ronnie p gossett often said the p stood for pig
Harald Harris is from Texas, love his fake accents.
The good thing about Eddie marlin not being promoter is we dont get to see all those"scrubb"wrestlers who lose all the time!

Ronnie wasn't wrong on the Packers. This was aired before 1989 Packers started. In 1988, The Packers were 4-12 and had the #2 pick.
And the packers picked Tony mandarich....a complete bust
R.I.P. Wild Side
Lmbo @the guys that screamed when Huber took his shirt off! I'd love to see Eddie Marlin vs Ronnie Gossett. Anybody got the link?
Freddy is so funny....to think that's Tommy Gilbert is hilarious...
Early look at the Pre Undertaker
Ronnie Gossett never had the makings of a varsity athlete. More chins than a Chines phone book!
Ronnie Gossett would go to a buffet and get a group discount.
The Freddy and Jason deal was stupid . Hurt the show .
GARY Albright ferry BIG IN JAPAN
