I just watched a video of someone who built a tank using your technique...and you explained it so much better.
Amazing to hear. Thank you very much for your feedback. I’m glad you have found it helpful. 🎥🎥🔥💪
you are in my opinion the only person on you tube to has shared injection method of tank building.

This is an ideal video. Totally comprehensive in the essential content. This is how I'm doing my next project.
That was an amazing way to build! Way better then caulking the edge and setting each piece one by one! I have a 210g I have to tear down and rebuild... being able to do it like this will be a tremendous time and back saver.
Love this method and I have been building for years
The water pressure at the bottom is greatest. With the 4 sides not resting on the bottom glass, the sillicon had better hold up or else its just a ticking time bomb.

What thickness glass would you recommend for a 120 gal 48x24x24 I’ve heard 10mm-12mm
1/2” glass which is approx 12mm thick
The injection method was good. But there's shouldn't be so much gap between the glasses like the size of tooth pick and all the four panel sits on the bottom glass which is the base and not outside. I'm an aquarist myself and all the aquariums I have made don't have so much gaps.
+Asghar Ali interesting , feel free to email me to discuss further. Thanks for your feedback, leopazzo85@gmail.com
I think gaps will not be a problem for you use silicone gasket for that and i think this is much better than work than other procedures that i saw this much nice good and cleaner. That gap is the reason why its called injection!
Hi boss. I like this injection method and planning to build my own.. Can you pls help me share your measurements in millimeter for all (5pcs glass panels) i will using 10mm glass for (4ft x 2ft x 2ft) tank. Thanking you in advance

One advice/ feedback idk but I'm still confused on LXB of these 12MM glass size. Not sure how much glass in MM or CM to order as they take order in complete inch, mm or cm not like 3/4 inch.

ImAwdheshShukla awesome thank you for your feedback. I am not really clear in your question.

awesome!! where you got those clamps?

Would you say your experiment with injecting from the inside and taping the outside was a success? Also, are the side panels siliconed to the sides of the bottom panel or are they resting on (and siliconed onto) the bottom panel? If the latter option, how do you keep spacing between the bottom and the side panels while applying silicone and curing?
Heyyy Jaap. Yes the side panels are siliconed to the sides of the bottom panel. Not on top.
The weight of the glass will hold its position at the bottom. You just have to space it out at the bottom and then space it out at side / top and then clamp it in the 4 corners . Hope this helps 💯💯
@@LeoPazzo what about the front and back panels? Are they resting on top of the bottom glass?
@@loki8686 no. None of the side walls are resting on the bottom glass.

Hey bro thank you for the dope video ! I have one question , I know say put painters tape on the seam so silicone won’t come out and pull it off so it won’t get stuck, do you put tape on the bottom seams as well ?
Hey Solomon’s Island for your feedback and support. No I do not put tape at the bottom of the tank.
I leave the bottom just resting on the drop cloth sheet.
Once tank is dry after 3-5 days I lift up the tank and peel back the drop cloth that is stuck to the silicone that squished out the bottom and dried to the drop cloth sheet.
Once the drop cloth is removed, you can simply cut any excess silicone off with a fresh razor blade. This is the best method so far that works for me. I have used tape before at the bottom and it doesn’t work that well because the tape really gets stuck to the silicone. I prefer to use a strong professional grade drop cloth. Under the drop cloth is a 3/4” thick plywood which is sitting on a level and flat surface.
@@LeoPazzo perfect thank you so much I didn’t want to pull out the silicone from the bottom of the tank so I will use a drop cloth as well, and last question I didn’t take in to account the toothpick gap when I was doing my measurements for my 60 gallon will that change the size of the tank a little?
@@solomonsisland2018 yes calculate the measurement of the glass with the tooth pic thickness in mind
how thick should the glass be if the tank were rimless and braceless?.......and you should prob wear a cape #HERO
Hahaha thanks man. In that tank build I’d suggest going with 3/4” glass all the way around. Or you can go with 3/4” at the bottom and 5/8 around all sides.
Nicely done and what a nice tank. How much do the materials for a tank that size run?
AIR Nashville price of glass has gone up. Approx 1000$ CND for materials - glass and silicone

Seriously good video but
Thanks. But what lol ?
Yo... I just bought an older Hagen 120g tank. The previous owner pulled a side panel off trying to "Drag It" across his carpet apparently... anyway... as I stated, the side panel is pulled off... the top and bottom trim attached to this panel broke off obviously compromising structural integrity. The glass is 1/2" thick, polished and beveled. I tore it apart and cleaned up the glass (A torturous process if anyone is considering doing this... but keep in mind, everything is better with a bag of weed lol). I noticed you built your tank with a "Flat" bottom... could I do the same? The tank I have is slightly tinted blue/green so obviously an older tank, I would assume early to mid 90's. I have done my research... fully confident of being able to reassemble the aquarium... I would hate to have it all fall apart in my house just because of no Trim or not being raised up the 1/2" or so that the factory trim held the bottom panel up... not sure that made sense lol but the Original Factory Trim (Which is Broken now) held the bottom glass panel up into the wall panels about 1/2" or maybe 3/8". I don't expect you to know... but I figured I'd ask. Any help or information from anyone who has tried this please let me know. Thanks
White Trash and Hellbound i understand what u mean about the bottom panel being raised up. This must be a store bought tank and. It custom built. You would need new trim at top and bottom if damaged at allllll. As the factory uses thinner glass to save money and uses plastic trim to support it as plastic mould is cheaper then thicker glass. So they use the plastic trim as structure to the tank build. Any damage to plastic trim then the structural strength of the tank has lowered and is now risky. I honestly don’t recommend fixing that size tank. If anything here is an option. Find out if the glass is tempered glass tank - walls and bottom. If not tempered you can strip down the tank 100% clean all silicone and have someone cut the glass for you into a smaller sized tank and maybe buy 1-2 pcs if really needed and build yourself a tank injection method.
Hey thanks for this vid helps alot with the injection method but how did you maintain the gap? at the bottom and sides?
Hey there thanks for your feedback. To maintain the gap at the bottom the glass has a lot of weight so it stays in place. All you have to do is place the glass down on the level ground and then just give it some space from the bottom panel. The weight of the glass itself hold it in place. Along with the metal clamps at the top of the tank to hold the top. The bottom of the side panels will hold itself in place as the glass is heavy.
@@LeoPazzo thank you!
So did you deduct an extra 1/8 from the side panels to make room for silicon. Let's say tank is 24 dept with 1/2 glass. Did you make the sides 23 1/2 or 23 3/8. Also was the. Bottom panel injected also? This just gives a cleaner no bubble seam. Nicely done
Correct
All sides and bottom injected and yes I left an approx 1/16 to 1/8 gap for silicone.
I’d say leave 3/16 total which will be enough gap for both sides .
@@LeoPazzo thank you for getting back to me. Much appreciated
Thank you for sharing, a question comes up here... If taking such deep engineering approach then why not using UV glue instead of Silicon?
Sir Fa not sure good question. Must be a chemical thing inside the UV glue or strength or who knows. Interesting question - stay tuned for the latest videos 🌎
How did u ensure a gap on the bottom before silicone? Another few toothpicks? Then do you remove them after dry and fill those spots later?
Hello Itskano - no I did not leave toothpicks in the bottom as I was siliconing the tank.
All I did was adjust the bottom glass to be even all the way around the edges which was approx a Toothpick thickness away from the side walls.
The side panels of glass are so heavy that when the side panels are standing up the weight of the glass itself will hold its place when you have adjusted the spacing as you like it.
What is important are those clamps at the top of the tank to hold it all square snd straight and also be sure to keep the tank level when building
You might have covered this. But what size thickness is that glass I'm building a 33x33x21 tank and wondering if 3/8 would suffice
Go for 1/2"
Hi Sir,
How do u calculate the size for the gap of the toothpick? So for example 60x50x50 can you help me out maybe?
Kind Regards,
Hello Mitch Van - depending what size tank you will be building and what thickness of glass you will be using for your tank build. The toothpick was used in this video as an example so people can see the size of the gap.
Roughly estimate the thickness of the tooth pick and calculate that into the size panels of glass you would need. Your best bet is to draw it out on paper so you can visually see how you will be assembling the glass tank. And you can calculate the length and width of each glass panel . Hope this helps 💪💯
SMART
Solid thanks 🙏
On Your 120 gallon direct injection video how did you inject the bottom of the glass with the side glass?
I injected it the same way. I left a gap as well at the bottom glass to the side panels
So I'm replacing just one panel. It its a front panel
It sits in top of the bottom panel, how do I get that gap on the bottom? Would this clamps actually hold.it.up.for me how long till you took off clamps.
The way I built this tank. All front and back and sode panels of glass are NOT sitting on top of the bottom panel of glass. They are on the outside of the bottom panel.
This method takes the scare out of me building my 210 gallon! What kind of clamps are those? Also i wonder if its better to compress the glass after you inject it because it reduces the possiblity of shearing apart, no?
the silicone is already contacting the glass if it is injected correctly. and any alteration is no good. next thing you know you have half dried silicone and now your shimming your tank back and forth to get it square?> not good. the tank glass should all be 100% set before starting injection method.

Have you double silicone the bottom? As you are using black for the gaps and it looks like you have clear silicone around the bottom at the end of the build?
I used clear silicone for the whole tank side walls and bottom glass . All clear silicone.
I did not use black silicone . Hope this helps
Great video!
Did you also left a gap between the bottom and the side glasses?
Thnx - yes I did leave a gap as well
I’ve been checking videos related to this method and many of them are saying that maximum is 50 us gals tanks only and this is 120 US Gals. Which is the thickness of the glass??

And I just recently spoke to the owner of the tank and they told me the tank is still running all these years later.

Nice work man! I have a question. Is it possible to build a 2 foot long by 3 foot high and 4 inch wide tank? Let me just ask you straight. How much would you charge to build it?
Hey there , I’d say all ballpark price to build that tank would be approx 800-1000
As the tank is very tall it will need extra glass supports and 1/2” or 5/80 glass with eurobrace and bottom brace etc. Stay tuned for all the latest videos
most of the tanks I have seen, and all the tanks I build, the walls rest on the base glass. but in your video I was pretty surprised to see the base being smaller than the perimeter. so, when you inject the sides to the base, how do you prevent the silicon to adhere to the floor (or whatever you have on the base)?
The way you are building your tanks is wrong and puts shear forces on the silicone, the way Leo builds his is the correct way to build aquariums. As for silicone adhering to the base surface, that's why he used a drop cloth smoothed out perfectly flat so that once the silicone had dried he could flip the tank and peel away the drop cloth preventing it from sticking to the board underneath. Of course if you read through the comments section there's answers to every question you could think of, but I'll spoon feed them to you just this once.

In normal method, (not injection) do gaps between the glasses is important ? Is yes do tell the reason behind because in injection it is necessary for injection, but what about normal one, I'm making aquarium from years and i don't like gaps in between the glasses so....
Good question. Both methods will require a gap with silicone between the glass. Without the silicone gap the 2 pieces of glass could / will be touching each other and can create a pressure point on the glass which could cause it to crack or break. For example when building an aquarium the normal method, you place the silicone on the 1 piece of glass and you butt up the other glass up to the glass with the silicone on it. That right there is creating a gap with silicone so the 2 pieces of glass don’t touch each other. Hope this helps and clarifies.
@@LEOPAZZOPRODUCTIONS okay like in normal method 1mm or like that gap is okay? Just glass should not touch each other right ....
@@ItzAzAM28 correct. Don’t allow the glass to touch each other.

GUYS PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE EXACT MEASUREMENT OF THE GLASS IS KEY - VERY IMPORTANT,
THIS METHOD CAN NOT BE DONE IF THE GLASS IS NOT THE CORRECT MEASUREMENTS.
I have never seen a tank build by any manufacturer that puts the bottom panel inside the side front and back panels. They do use an injection method but the sides front and back panels sit on top of the bottom panel for strength. They use a silicon spacer that the panels sit on top of creating a gap on the bottom panel then inject it the same way you showed. Have you tested your way for durability/strength ? With other tanks if so how long have they been filled up in use?
this 120 is currently set up since dec 2016 downtown in the city on the 29th floor. along with the custom built stand i build. which you can see in some of my other videos. thanks for the suggestions and comments, you have some great points. what type of test would you like done? i am interested to test the tanks durability.
Ihave build tanks with that method too..
N its strong enough...
😊😊😊
LEOPAZZO TV .....All ADA tanks are made as this video shows - All panels around the bottom glass and not on top. ADA make the best tanks and if they use this method in their highly priced tanks, I guess you could use this too.
It's important to know that the silicone needs to be applied on the same plane in which the force of water is applied. All forces push down and out. The downward force is handled by the stand and the outward forces need to be handled by the silicone on the same plane. This is the correct way to build a tank.
Having the sides sit on top of the bottom glass introduces a shear force going outward on all the beads of silicone on the bottom glass. That is where most of your leaks happen.
Learn a lesson from the Japanese and understand the physics at play here.
Build it how you want it...and fix it when it leaks.
MAD Science Hacks good research but a question comes up here... If taking such deep engineering approach then why not using UV glue instead of Silicon?
I've seen a builder put 1/8 spacer on the bottom panel to keep the bottom from touching the frame and yes he put the front and sides panel like leo did.

I saw a video of a professional tank company doing this method and they have little nubs built into the glass to maintain that space..so I'm just curious.
Thanks for the awesome video.
@@jepuskar I'm reading all of the comments and can say that the side glass are not resting on the base glass. Side glass are at floor level and that's how gap is same between side and bottom.
This guys going through here and liking all the comments but not answering any of the questions LOL... you would have a lot more return viewers if you were answering questions
Hey looks like it’s your lucky day. I have the time today to reply to comments and I am now coming across your comment . What questions do you have ? Did I miss your previous comment ? What would you like to know? Sorry for the delay reply . I have been busy with many other projects and replying may take some time. My email is usually in the video description. Cheers tlk soon
LEOPAZZO TV I don’t believe I had any specific question I was just noticing that a lot of people were asking questions and you were liking their comments but not answering the questions.. and some of their questions I was also curious about..
Modern gun guy sounds good no problem thanks for tuning in- see ya on the next video
Whats the name of that black angular holder?
It’s called a 90 degree right angle clamp
Can you please provide me the glass dimensions that u cut your glass? i thought we need same size glass for this like to make 2.5*2*2ft tank we need 30*24inch length glass and another 24*24
but i see your front and back pannels are slightly bigger.
Bhashkar Raj Mishra yes from front and back panels overlap my side panels . As when u look from the front of tank you should see one piece of glass and not see the corners of the side glass panels .
I have a playlist of videos on how to build a reef tank- search my channel- 60g reef tank build
Hi boss. Can you pls help me share your measurements in millimeter for all (5pcs glass panels) i will using 10mm glass for (4ft x 2ft x 2ft) tank. Thanking you in advance
winzi winz 10mm glass is not thick enough for this size tank. I do not recommend you build a tank that size with that thickness of glass - 🔥💯
What should be the exact size of the panels to make a 55 Gallon. I know it is 48 x 13 x 21, please give the exact size of front panel, bottom and side panel, so that they all fit together. Thank you for your help.
salimm76 this is part of the calculations you will need to do for each tank size and glass thickness is different . I would need more info. I would suggest using 1/2” glass as well for that 48” long. You can use 3/8 but you will need extra supports- eurobrace top and bottom
Hello, may i ask how did you maintain the bottom gap?
Hello. The bottom gap is maintained by the weight of the glass itself. Before applying the silicone. You have to align the glass and space it out accordingly. The weight of the side panels of glass holds its position at the bottom. It is at the google where you need to use the metal clamps to hold the top corners in place.
The gap at the bottom should be the same size gap as the sides. Hope this helps - 💪
@@LeoPazzo I mean like where the bottom seal goes. I’ve heard the weight of the glass will squeeze the silicone out.
Nooooo you Do Not put the side panels on top of the bottom glass.
You put the side panels BESIDE the bottom panel. Watch the video again and look closely when I’m injecting the silicone. You can see the side panels are NOT resting on the bottom panel.
Hope this makes it clear for you .
@@LeoPazzo I see. Unfortunately with marineland tanks, the glass is ontop and it wouldn’t work with the frame. Thank you anyways!
Where do you get those cool clamps? Also do you think this method would work on a water box 130.4
I’m not familiar with water box so I am not sure
Clamps from Home Depot
Thanks for the Info! It helps a lot! I have an question. I want to build 100*50*50 box out of Plexiglass. And I would put water in about 10cm height. In that case, how thick glass should I need? Do you think 2mm would be too thin?
100 inches or 100cm? Are you building out of acrylic or glass ?
Caption should be "how to save silicone "
Manqoba Magawu hahahaha yea maybe your right. That a good thing or what? Lol
Omg I just like your video and now it’s a 666 💀
Wow wtf what do you mean ? Oh that many likes ? Hahahahaha cool ❤️
What do you call the clip thingy you used to connect each angle?
Those are called 90 degree corner clamps
Where you get the glass and what’s called
Non tempered glass. Bought it from local glass supplier
While making New 4 feet glass Aquarium. How many times should we apply silicon coating for whole tank? What will happen if we apply second round silicon coating above first dry silicon coating after 24 hours
You only apply silicone 1 time.
Silicone doesn’t stick to silicone.
That’s why I don’t understand a tank manufacturer using silicone spacers as you say wet silicone doesn’t stick to cured silicone.
Good observation. My guess is that the spacer is a hard plastic or material that will adhere to silicone
@@LeoPazzo my concern is that the spacer “ hard plastic or what ever creates a weak spot for potential water to get through. I realize that there is a layer of silicone over it as well when you do the inside and apparently it works but still! Maybe I’m just over thinking this but supporting the glass from above and having one continuous gap free seal makes me sleep better at night.
@@1toastandjam1 totally makes sense what you are saying.
Really interesting! Does the gap being larger not make the tank weaker? I've build a bunch of 40s and now I'm looking at a 275 but I'm really stressing on the joints, have you had any experience with mitred joint glass? Also I'm thinking of tempered for the base and annealed for the sides, would annealed also work for the base? As it would be cheaper to to have all the glass the same. Thanks a bunch for the vid
Hey Sean. No I haven’t built a tank with 45 degree mitred corners. I have also used flat cut with beveled edges. You can use tempered glass for the bottom but for this tank build I didn’t use tempered glass. I am not familiar with “ annealed “ glass so I can’t answer that question or give my opinion about it. For that 275 gallon tank I would use 3/4 inch glass for bottom and use 5/8 inch glass for the sides. I would euro brace the bottom of the tank from the inside and I would euro brace the top of the tank as well.
@@LeoPazzo annealed is the best way to go as it's less fragile and won't explode when knocked, yeah I'm going 18mm tempered base with 14mm annealed sides, don't wanna risk it popping on me xD
@@seanwilkinson5403 good stuff man. What method will you be using for the silicone ? Injection method ?
Be sure to to clean the glass edges and have it all prepared level and square before silicone.
@@LeoPazzo usually I have a chipboard box I use for lining up, silicone and screw it together then finger the edges, but your way seems much easier. Do you have any studies on leaving that much silicone in the joins? I've always gone pressure fit but always looking to improve.
What did you use to leave that separation between crystals?
I used toothpicks pic gap and clamp
@@LeoPazzo wow I did not expect you to answer me because this video is 3 years old. Thanks you so much from spain
how did you make the wall mount aquarium behind you at 1:58 and how did you mount it
Fuzu Aquariums i built a wall and built a stand for the tank in the wall. I Custom built it in my basement. U should see the wall now- much better looking then this video
What are the clamps called
90 degree metal clamps from hardware store 💯🎥💪 Leopazzo Productions is my other RUclips channel
Hey Leopazoo, thank you. So I have a doubt. What I have to do after inject silicone? Have I to press the glass to close the gap?
not really, you can leave the glass as is once you inject the silicone. you just have to have the correct size gap to start with. once you have the correct gap, lock it in with the metal braces and inject the silicone, you can slightly tap on the glass if you think it will help with your contact bond. but ideally you should be injecting the silicone so the gap is completely full with silicone.
the name of the appliance you use to fix the side windows.
I could not find it in turkey
+muhammed yüksel interesting , how can I help
where can I buy the glass?
Where you live ?

Where can you buy them?
I bought my clamps from home hardware store
Can you tell me the dimensions for each glass?
I believe that is .5 or half inch
am i seeing mixed freshwater and marine fishes on your existing tank?
Lalrinawma Renthlei no they are all saltwater fish - marine fish. Those large fish look similar to some freshwater fish but they are all saltwater fish and corals
Cheered see ya on the next video
Where do you get the glass from?
My local glass supplier
Sir plz tell me how to joine the base or master glass pieces for induction molding
Wating for your reply
That doesn’t look like a low iron glass that’s for sure
Yes this is not starphire glass - this is standard glass with polished beveled edges.
This tank is for a client of mine so starphire wasn’t within their budget for this project.
On average the starphire glass is roughly 3 times for expensive just for the glass.
