    I am happy with my Titan 50 I purchased earlier this year after seeing your video for the Titan 70 with EZDrummer 3! Traded in my acoustic kit for this and run into my DAW with EZDrummer 3 plus the presets with the kit sound great. Another bonus is how much quieter it is and my kids love playing it also! Would have never considered an eKit until your video on it, thanks!

      So glad to hear it's working out! EZ Drummer with an E-Kit is still absolutely insane to me. It works phenomenally!

      Yes, it is quieter than an accustic kit, but... Simons does not make any accustic realistic e-kits. For this reason, you can have fun with them, but it will only be like playing a toy of a drum set. There are other companies that make very accustic, like e-kits. The higher end accustic like e-kits are just like playing an accustic drum set. Sadly, Simmons does not make these or have plans to make these. As a drummer, I wanted an e-kit that was as close to an accustic drum set as possible since playing my accustic kit where I live is just way too loud.. 360° tripple zone cymbals, a ride with expressive playability, a hi-hat on a stand, dynamic toms, and snare. Having an e-kit like this means you do not have to adjust how you play drums since it plays, sounds, feels, and is just as expressive as an accustic kit. Yes, these types of e-kits can be expensive and cost more than anything Simmons has to offer, but if you truly want to get good at playing drums and have the most realistic drum set experience it is well worth it. If after you played on a Simmons or any lower-end low-budget e-kit and then go to play an accustic kit, you unfortunately will find that since the two play so differently, there will be a relearning curve to get used to the feel, dynamics, and playability of the accustic drum set. Most intermediate, advanced, and professional drummers look at the so-called "beginner," lower-end e-kits as just toys of a drum set, and would never recommend them since they are really nothing like playing an actual drum set.

    Hey, nice drumming!
    A common entry barrier is which speakers to couple to a kit like this in order to fill a room. In case it needs to be used like real drums for band rehearsal or even a small gig.
    Maybe an idea for a future video? How to make the base go whoop and the cymbals go tschingg 😃

      @PoneyBirds, @songsbyspencer Definitely second this question - while I'm curious about having something like this for practice and recording, it'd be awesome to have the option of carting this to rehearsals or performances, and performances we already have a sound system setup for bass, guitar, piano and vocals. I know I might be asking too much at this price point, but the more versatile this kit is, the more likely I am to get one.

      Either you use a VST that will come close or do not use a Simmons or any lower-end e-kit and get an accustic realistic higher-end e-kit. As far as speakers go you will need a drum amp. These are specifically designed to be used with e-kits. Although I can not recommend Simmons electronic drum sets, I can recommend Simmons drum amps as they are concidered one of the best and I use the Simmons DA200S. You can turn it up loud enough to even use on a big club stage.

      @nathansimons9881 For a true versatile realistic drum set experience, forget about Simmons or any lower-end e-kit and get a higher-end e-kit that actually plays just like an accustic drum set. These are more expensive, but for recording, band practice, and even something you can even use on stage it is worth the expense.

    Here I was just looking into drum ekits, since I don't really have the space for a full real kit, but want something to practice on and record with. If I wasn't already subscribed, I'd suspect the algorithm advertising to me . . .
    As not quite a rank beginner (I can mostly fake a four on the floor swing - especially fond of brushes) who is really just a *long* time sax player wanting to mess around, but also possibly record and get good enough to cover when we are missing a drummer but have enough saxes, would you say this might be an adequate entry into the world of beginner drumming/home recording?

    • @songsbyspencer
      @songsbyspencer  3 месяца назад +1

      I would say this is the perfect kit from beginners, both for practicing and recording. It plays very well and it's extremely snappy and responsive. I have absolutely no complaints!

    sounds good and great video. I noticed a delay in the video and the sound when you hit a cymbal. I assume this is because of video editing but want to check did you notice any latency, both with internal samples or midi? Also how is the velocity, did you had to make any adjustments?

    • @songsbyspencer
      @songsbyspencer  3 месяца назад

      I noticed absolutely no latency delays when playing or recording, it was very snappy. All the drum parts that are demoing the built in sounds were recorded as Audio Outs, so there wasn't any post production. As for the EZ Drummer demo, that was obviously recorded with midi. I may have tightened it up with a small amount of quantization but other than that what you hear is what you get!

      The velocity, and dynamics of sound are not great on Simmons or most lower-end e-kits.

    So another question I have is, how hard would it be to load your own samples/patchset onto this? Say you shelled out for a high-end, really nice one, for live performances.

    • @songsbyspencer
      @songsbyspencer  3 месяца назад +1

      To be honest, I'm not sure if it's possible to load in your own samples into the module. The work around would be to use a laptop with your daw, have your samples loaded in the software, and use the kit as a midi controller.

      It doesn't have the ability to add Samples like the SD1250-2000 Series
      But I heard rumors that Simmons will add that feature in

    Very good. If you want to check invisible (not kidding) drum set too, check Aeroband pocket drum 2 also. Pretty fun and almost as good as this. Just invisible LOL.

    Nice timing! I’ve been looking into budget and features for an e-kit for a while now. Programming a beat sequencer is just feeling too removed from the groove while writing.

    • @songsbyspencer
      @songsbyspencer  3 месяца назад

      In the past, I always recorded drums with my fingers on a keyboard. I gotta say having an E-kit made my recordings much better and a lot more fun! Definitely a good investment

    • @Iamadrummer
      @Iamadrummer 3 месяца назад

      For true drum set experience there is no good budget friendly e-kit. If you use a Simmons or any budget friendly e-kit and a VST the sounds will be very close to an accustic kit but you will lose on dynamics, and having all your cymbals be tripple zone playable, which is not much different than what you already are doing. I would suggest saving up and getting a higher-end e-kit as those are 99% like playing an actual accustic drum set. The so called "beginner" and budget friendly e-kits to an intermediate, advanced, or professional drummer are looked at as only toys as they do not have the expressiveness, playability, dynamics, feel, or realistic sound depth of an accustic drum set but a high-end e-kit does. So for recording since the look does not matter and to save some money, I would look into a pad based higher-end e-kit rather than a full shell higher-end e-kit. The pad based ones and the full shell more accustic looking ones do play the same and give you a true realistic drum set experience, and the pad based one can save you money.

      Pass on the nitro mesh. Kick tower doesn't accommodate 2 beaters. I've even modified one to do so and it still didn't work without a substantial amount of weight to keep the tower from rocking.

    • @Iamadrummer
      @Iamadrummer 3 месяца назад

      You may love yours, but... Sadly, any e-kit Simmons makes is nothing like playing an actual drum set. If you think you are good on your Titon-50, then go and play an accustic kit. Since the accustic kit is more expressive and dynamic, the cymbals are tripple zone, and the feel and playability are way different. You will find that you basically have to relearn playing drums. For this reason, you can have fun playing a Simmons e-kit or any lower-end e-kit, but to truly have a real drum set experience and you want or need an e-kit, then only a higher-end e-kit will do as they are like 99% like playing an accustic drum set and the transition between the two are seamless. I had an old Simmons e-kit that I used for over 10 years. The problem was when I went to play my accustic kit, I found it took me a little while to get used to how differently and better it plays. Now I have a higher-end e-kit, and it is so good and close to playing an accustic kit I do not miss the fact that where I now live since my accustic kit is so loud I can no longer play it. The higher-end e-kits are more expensive, but to truly get good at playing a drum set, have the most realistic experience, and have the ability to jump on and play an accustic kit. It is well worth the expense and saving up for a good high-end e-kit.
