I used Zip Strip paint stripper the old formula for most of my 72 Roadrunner. The stuff was wicked because of the fumes! I would paint it on and it would basically melt the undercoating off. I finally discovered an electric needle scaler I bought from Harbor Freight and that worked great.
Not knocking anyone here. But why remove 50+ year old undercoating that has clearly done a decent job at protecting the metal underneath it? Just curious.
The undercoating comes off in patches and doesn’t uniformly hold on. So if you replace panels/floors it’s hard to blend. So I just remove and replace it.

Great quick video. I have one of those needle scalers and they’re excellent for a bunch of stuff.
I use the same tool and it works great. I hated using heat because it still leaves residue and scrapers leave gouges
Agreed!
Great method...will try it this year. Thanks
Let me know what you think of it!
Thank you

@@edsmachine93 thank you!
So how dangerous is this undercoating stuff. Does it really have asbestos?
That’s a good question…I don’t know the answer.

@@amostlymoparfamily curious 🤔 what will you be using to protect the metal when she's back together?
@@brotherjesus4246 primer and fresh modern undercoating
