I found out about Alkaline Trio right around Blinks first hiatus and they were just fantastic. To have Matt in the band is great it's like a dream super band melding together

Was a hardcore blink fan since dude ranch, so naturally found out about alkaline trio during the huge punk rock wave that happened around eneme/take off and all the Atticus cd compilations they put out always promoted alk3 highly. They were one of the prominent bands for blink fans back then, so hearing they chose him to replace tom was so awesome. Felt like I literally could not imagine a better choice. So cool to combine those 2 bands. both have been big favorites of mine for decades.

Alk3 was only played on stations that promoted more indie/underground groups, so it depends what stations you lived near, but they are still considered a cult classic of their genre. Plus, during the age when punk was booming, radio was the last place you went to to learn about good bands. The internet, concerts, slightly tv, ect - and if you were a big fan of blink between like 97 and 03, you should have been well aware of ATTICUS. They couldn't rep it any harder. They put those comps together. If you were familiar with Atticus, you loved Alkaline Trio. It's just the way it was. Atticus was a great way for Blink fans to broaden their horizons. So again, I'm very surprised to hear you somehow missed them. If you wanna find out about the other bands you missed out on. I suggest you go download Atticus - Dragging the Lake volumes I & II.

I think it is so cute how people feel the need to criticize music. why can't they just enjoy it? I personally like new trio just as well as old trio. They have adapted and matured their music, but they have done it just as I have grown up, so in a since it's like we've grown up together.. how can you say you don't like the person we've all become, because you know after what, like 15 years... im glad alkaline trio hasn't got mainstream success if they did there music wouldn't be meaningful it wouldn't be alkaline trio it would be like every other piece of musical tripe that comes out of the mainstream media machine called the music industry btw alkaline trio are awsome

I personally like new trio just as well as old trio. They have adapted and matured their music, but they have done it just as I have grown up, so in a since it's like we've grown up together.. how can you say you don't like the person we've all become, because you know after what, like 15 years... We still relate to this music

I love how people complain about Alkaline Trio's "new sound". You could play this with Good Mourning or Crimson and it's still the same band with the same style.
