--------
Vlad and D.L. Hughley discussed the surprising wealth and real estate assets of rapper Vanilla Ice. During the discussion, Vlad revealed the rapper's savvy business decision to acquire copyrights for the songs "Under Pressure" and "Ice Ice, Baby," which led him to earn substantial royalties. Finally, Vlad and Hughley debated whether Vanilla Ice or Eminem was more accepted in the "hood" when they first entered the music scene, with Hughley arguing in favor of Eminem. - Развлечения
Vladimir he answered your question. You asked him a question and he answered the question all because he didn't give you the answer you were looking for you don't have to try to coerce him into saying what you want him to say
Oh my god thank you lol I haven't watched the video yet but they amount of times he's done that is ridiculous lol I hate when anyone does that
Mr. Ice actually conned Vlad into becoming a Vanilla super fan 😂 he respects him so damn much now
Vanilla ice is in the gutter to me now that I saw him play at Trump NYE party
This an Overton window question designed to slowly have blacks except more white rappers
🤣💀🤣🔥😂
Yeah DL killed him w/ tht “ u said in the hood tho” ….DL listened and executed the question w/ simplicity
Nah DL tried to be cute and ask oh he has a house? 😂 little did he know he has more money than DL 🤣 I was crying
Yeah DL did tried to be cute w/ tht one😂
Vlad at the end😂😂😂 Ok, Fair Enough
“Ok…. Ok fair enough, yea I said in the hood” lol
Lol the way Vlad built up his question. He wanted DL to say Vanilla Ice.
Lol facts
Yeah vanilla ice was never that guy in the hood 😂😂😂. Vlad says hood then switches to international 😂😂
@@LKS-M9323 he's campaigning for Ice and nobody cares
@strklo lol nah Ice ice baby back in the G def was a hit don't do Nilla I like Dat. 🤣🤣
Yeah he was slick with it in the begining talking about how insanely rich he is than tried to throw the straw on the camels back, OH NOOO!!!🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Only Vlad would try to compare Vanilla Ice to Eminem - Em is a genius on the mic - easily top 5 all-time
they need to change his chanel to letstalktrashaboutEminemforviewers.. this chanel is 100% all the time talking about EM lol
You people don't get it he said in the beginning in the hood and "Ice" is the hands down winner Eminen blew up later off of other sh*t his first song didn't have the same number or impact of "Ice".
Top 10 ....not top 5 at all
And Vanilla Ice is easily bottom 5 of all time. He’s right above Kodak Black😊
My God you people don't listen but just to let you know "Ice Ice Baby" sold 15 million copies if you could comprehend you could answer the question he asked.
Eminem. I remember the first time I heard Eminem. We was in the hood at my cousin house. Tripping off this white guy and how he was spitting
I'm sorry but I have to say this. There's absolutely no musical or artistic correlation towards Eminem or vanilla ice. That was just a strictly race thing. They both talk about totally different things, they're not even honestly the same genre lol. I'm not that much of a huge Eminem fan but you have to respect the artistic talent Eminem brought to hip hop as a whole, regardless of race. Now in this era where people don't really listen to much music, just what they can see and hear from other comments. But I know Eminem was one of the best lyricist, storytellers, concept creators ever. Vanilla ice is a pop artist. Not to discredit vanilla ice in any way. But you call a spade of spade and a deuce a deuce.
It’s like comparing fetty wap to drake it’s weird
I agree
Took the words right out my mouth
Yup my thoughts exactly just reading the title before I even watched the clip. 100% race based comparison, they have no musical lyrical or cultural connection beyond possibly being played on the same radio stations
Feel free to discredit vanilla ice. The success was based on white privilege. Guy had no talent.
Eminem is arguably the most talented rapper in the history of the art form.
I agree that this is not a color thing.
Not sure if vlad just subconsciously conflated the hood with worldwide success, or if he pivoted just to make a stronger argument, but either way, DL wasn’t falling for it. He said - nah man; that’s not what you asked me lol
Vanilla Ice was NEVER accepted in the hood. This question is confusingly dumb.
At the time in the hood people were play "Ice" even older Black people like "Ice" very few people even knew about "Hi my name is" and older Black people in the hood didn't know sh*t about it
@@darrelledison7180 There's a difference between getting played and accepted. MilliVanilli was played that same year, but them boys couldn't pull up on the block in 1990.
The question had a purpose.
Not really. It was in the hoods in Texas
🤣💀🤣
We was most definitely bumpin Eminem in the hood around the year 2000. Especially the joints he did with Dre.
Thanks to “my name is” during the early 2000s I was a kid and I thought they only called him slim shady so he was just slim shady to me for those years not Eminem 😂
Forget about Dre was my jam 😭
@@user-cf4ch7rk4m hell yea, we all thought his name was slim shady. I didn't catch on to his actual rap name until 8 mile came out. Lol
That’s nonsense. Eminem’s music was for young incels and Back Street boy fans. Those polka beats that Dre made for Eminem had no soul. Paul Wall got bumped in the streets way more than Eminem.
@strklo
You was there, where…??? I’m in the South where a majority of the black population is at.
Vlad I know you were expecting DL to say Vanilla and you had a whole speech planned for why you agreed with him. But you should take your question and turn it into an action and go into any hood and ask them to name 3 Eminem songs and 3 Vanilla songs. I guarantee even if they don’t like or listen to Eminem they can name 3 songs same can’t be said for Vanilla.
We deflee wasn't bumpin ice ice baby in the hood. We did bump EM. Most of us thought he was black at first.
Corny Em
😂 I don’t know not one black person that ever thought Em was black. 😭
@@Renegade-jk4ux I know several
He better pray Eminem does lash him on his next new album
Y’all see how Vlad cut the conversation short right😂😂 just because DL gave him the answer he didn’t expect and didn’t want to hear😂😂
He’s salty and mad😅😅😅😅
In my experience with Vanilla Ice, growing up "the hood" when the record dropped, it didn't feel authentic. It wasn't a bad song, it was just something off in the presentation. The visuals felt too MC Hammerish. We already had hammer, didn't need a white version. This is why acts from around that time lasted or did well like 3rd Base or Beastie Boys. Felt Authentic and different. Thus Eminem, authentic and different.
Facts
It was still played at parties. I knew vanilla ice. Never knew of wu-tang. If you like that style of rap then I get it. But Eminem had better marketing
I think you hit it on the head when you say it felt like an act because thats the best way i'd describe it.
Em came from 8 mile, back then that was one of the poorest of the poor upbringings you could come from in the States!
Vanilla Ice was the white MC Hammer just like New kids on the block was the white New Edition
meh hammer and ice were actually pretty different.
Thank you, DL. Why does Vlad always have such a hard-on for Em? Vanilla Ice Pop sucked from the get-go! Not a rhymer! Good as a dancer and that was it! Em was the truth from the beginning. Facts!
Backwards, he has a hard on for Vanilla because he interviewed him & was impressed by his house 😂
He bought into Mr. Ice’s con-artistry way too easily, like he believed EVERY word
@@joojoobawI like vlad but he tends to do this once he’s interviewed someone. I made the same comment about Carlos Mencia. Seems clear that he did steal jokes but Vlad believed every word he said. Now when he brings up Carlos to other comedians you can clearly see which side he is on, the bias is so obvious
Even though Dj Vlad clearly has a bias against Em, I appreciate that he will still upload the clip showing him look like a damn fool instead of burying it
DL impressed af he just playin it super cool lol
Right got more houses than dl he lowkey hating asking if he had a house
Vanilla ice invite vlad to airbnb lmao
Ain't no way Vlad asked this as a serious question
I'm black and 47 and never heard anybody I know played Vanilla ice music seriously! But Eminem songs like Stand and I am, yes!
Naw Vlad..we wasn't bumping Ice Ice baby in the hood..We only watched the video when it came on Video Jukebox til we couldn't stand to see it or hear it anymore.
Its a good song, you just hate the person.
@@Geraldo-ro9rc you got it all wrong. We always rocked with Vanilla Ice cause his swag and dance, we just wasn't bumping his music..Same with MC Hammer. We love the guy we just didn't play his music.
Vlad upset he didn’t get the answer he thought he as going to get 😂
I like how hughley keeps it real eminem grew up in the hood in detroit with D12 he put them on
Ice grew up in trailer park so he doesnt have a point.
@@Geraldo-ro9rcVanilla Ice stepfather worked at a fucking car dealership and they moved between Texas and Miami before settling in Texas. Stop making it seem like he had to struggle anywhere near as much as Eminem did dumbass.
Em did not grow up in the hood
@@rallorodriguezem stayed in the hood on annot and Dresden that’s the hood like a mf
Vanilla Ice is basically Jim Carey in hip hop.
Jim Carrey has faaaar more talent than that.
more like the Rob Schneider of hip hop
Vanilla Ice paved the way for a lot of the white rappers, and also spearheaded hip hop artists reaching millions in sales. Give him his props
@@dboi4952 Some would say Beastie Boys & 3rd Bass “paved” much more of “the way” for white rap than Mr. Ice
@@dboi4952 he paved he’s porch maybe… Vanilla Ice was an embarrassment that mocked Mc Hammer that’s it
I remember... IN THE HOOD in new york, when vanilla ice came out, some old, south american dude drove by in his car, bumpin ice ice baby.. everybody in the block was laughing at him.
I can see vlad singing along to ice ice baby 😂
Gotta have DL back to get his feedback on Katt William's Kings of Comedy comments on Club Shay Shay!
Dam he said em quick he didn’t even have to think about it lol
It’s a dumb question vlad be saying anything
If the question truly is "who was more accepted...", this is a silly question. We have the overwhelming proof of Em's "acceptance" in the way of the NUMEROUS songs, shows, videos, movies, etc. that he's done with "hood" artists vs. Vanilla Ice's. And it's for all the reasons (and more) that D.L. mentioned.
😂 how dare he compare Eminem to vanilla ice. And nothing to do with race. Eminem is culturally hip hop mc. Vanilla ice, mc hammer and the sugar hill gang are pretty much the same lane. Entertainers. They played their part in a major way but didn’t get respected culturally as hip hop.
Nah they're hip hop
@@LN.2233 nah they’re not. Sugar hill was a garage band. And vanilla ice himself said it’s just entertainment. However both of them opened Doors in a major way
Best way of putting it without insulting or criticizing anybody. Cool.
The Hood takes slim 😆
"I fuck with this dude." that about says it all right there
Lol he answered so fast Vlad thought he didn't hear and asked him again
I am surprised that Vlad seems taken by surprise by this as it is obvious to most hip-hop fans of the last 20 years, let alone before that.
Vlad thought DL was gone say Vanilla Ice 😂😂
i was 14 y/o when ice ice baby dropped...and trust we all thought that shi* was wack AF!!🤣🤣 i wasnt really messin with em either but he was endorsed by dre so that at least gave him credibility in my circles
Sounds like group thinking.
@@Destroyer-Grizzly-BIH you can call it what you will but that doesnt change the fact
😂🔥🤣💀🤣🔥😂
that song still rocks. You must be deaf.
How are you going to feel when you find out Dr. dre doesn't produce all the beats he claims, and is a gay man. Nothing wrong with being gay, but something tells me your "circle" wouldn't appreciate it.
There’s not a person on this planet on gods green earth who would say vanilla ice was more accepted in the hood than Eminem lol.
When Vlad says fair enough lol u know he feels it ain’t fair 😂
Vlad just doesn't understand that most real hip hoppers thought Vanilla Ice was trash. He was pretty much seen as a hip hop mockery.
Max kellermen has more flow than vanilla ice and he only made one song 😂
😂 why didn’t he just say the world? That man went straight to the hood 😂😂😂
Crazy how Vlad becomes so biased towards certain people once he’s interviewed them. He’s doing it here with Vanilla Ice and he’s been doing it with Carlos Mencia too
Vanilla Ice was NOT accepted then. Everybody looked at him as a joke. No comparison.. Fuck the sales. Hip hoppers didn't rock with that joint
Not true public enemy was gonna sign him
Even if Em didn't have dre backing him, be it him being an independent or underground artist who had right right producer and beatmaker backing him, he will and would have been one of the most phenomenal artists in hip hop/rap to ever do it. Yet him being with Dr Dre put him in more of the mainstream eyesight of things so yeah he was most definitely going to knock it out the park with any community especially the urban/hood community
His first album didn’t move any units
@@godofthisshit infinite ?
I always thought Black folk back then thought Vanilla Ice was corny. & they thought he was ripping off MC Hammer’s style
They didn't play under pressure in the queen movie.
😂😂😂 Vlad Vlad you try😂
He wanted DL to meat eat Vanilla Ice too 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Vlad was mad he ain’t say Vanilla ice 😂😂😂😂
started with "he has a house? " to DL saying "real estate huh i bet he has houses"
if eminem were going to give you attention he'd have done it by now needy vlad
That's a question I would of love Lord Jamar to answer. I miss his Vlad interview
Vlad you really gotta get off that vanilla ice trip.
VLAD ITS EMINEM CLEAR
DL thought he was about to joke on Vanilla Ice and then Glad started flexing on em 💀
I know what Vlad is saying, and honestly, as a white dude in the hood.....I think Vlad is right. The hood didn't fuck with Eminem really until the jay z feature and signing 50 cent
I was young when Ice Ice baby dropped but I believe it was jamming everywhere
Ice Ice Baby was bigger hit than My Name is. You can make no mistake about it. And no matter what anyone says here that is fact. But...Vlad said "in the hood" and while in some hoods they did actually F with Ice Ice Baby. It was more mainstream and for kids who lived in the suburbs that blew that song up. DL is correct 100%.
Was it bigger than lose yourself? I wasn’t alive for ice ice baby
@@parlayprince Bigger than Lose Yourself, no it wasn't. But it still was huge and sold more than most rappers could ever imagine. The problem with Vanilla Ice is after that debut album. That was pretty much it music wise. He fell way off after that. And became the butt of many jokes. He eventually pivoted and became successful outside of being a music artist as Vlad alluded to. With Em he got bigger and bigger music wise after his debut.
Ice Ice baby was the first rap song EVER to hit #1 on billboard. If you don't like the song I can't say anything about that to each their own. But anyone saying anything negative about the success of that song and discrediting how massive it was in these comments when it dropped wasn't alive or is lying.
Ice ice baby was by far bigger than any of Eminem's hits. Back in 1989/1990 you had to actually buy a record. You didn't just get streamed and make .003 cents per stream. Eminem came out at the height of Napster, limewire, pirate bay and bootlegging CDs. And I say this as a huge Eminem fan who overall thinks Eminem is infinitely better. Vanilla ice sold like 160 million records world wide. Eminem has sold like 228 million or something like that. Rob Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice obviously didn't have the longevity in the music industry but he adapted and used his wealth toward something else he's passionate about - real estate and I really admire that. He's a really positive dude and does a lot for his community/charity and fans.
Not true...
When Vanilla Ice first came out, his music was more accepted in the hood than Eminem. The suburbs thing happened when they figured out he was white.
None of the knuckleheads around my way were driving around listening to "My Name Is". That ish was corny. But all of us were driving around listening to "Ice Ice Baby".
And this is the point that Snoop was trying to make. No one in the hood listens to Eminem like that.
Ppl know, and they still do interviews with this man.
You can see the jelousy in DL's face about how rich Vanilla Ice is 🤣
Vlad talk about vanilla ice money like it’s his lol
Vlad buggin. I’ve seen black people ride way harder for Em than Ice.
1:03 I’m so happy for Ice. 🙌🏾
We was not bumping that ice ice baby in the hood or no where else and I'm 54
This wasnt a difficult question AT ALL.. Glad is truely disconnected😂
Vlad like fair enough I’m not from the hood
😂ok someone explain to me, vlad said, ice is wealthy, but not rich???😮
Its EM before Em Even busted out with a full album and went commercial. Us underground heads was rocking his stuff at least a year or two prior.
Really depends on the hood. Down in miami, neither one of’em was “accepted” more or less. And if they had to choose, it would probably be Ice because the music had to be something you could dance to in a dancing environment or if you just rolling down the street in a cadi or chevy, the music pounding outta your speakers had to have some… “ahem” DROP!
I clearly remember hearing Ice Ice Baby on Power 96 every 10 mins 🤣
@@miamiwax5504, they played the hell out of it and I liked it, but I was 10/ 11 years old at the time and I’m talking older folks who were driving vehicles, bumpin’ the music they wanted to, not radio. Dudes in carol city, liberty city, overtown etc., were not driving around blasting Ice Ice Baby outta their cars like that. Maybe that happened in some other hoods in some other states. I don’t know, but not in Miami.
Sneaky Vlad loves Eminem titles😂 Eminems loose your self was way bigger song than ice ice baby . i was in banglore india and they played loose your self in the clubs same when i was in Thailand almost every bar and club played loose your self ..but not once have i heard ice ice baby in a club since the 90s
The debuts were a decade apart, and the times had changed. We didn't know Vanilla Ice was white when he first came out. Everyone knew Eminem was white on day 1, so that did impact the initial velocities of their careers.
Vlad seriously???.....all I can think of is that In Living Color skit with Jim Carey singing that song and saying "word to your mother"...lol
Um we'll take slim please! 😆
Nobody bumps em in the hood, i can remember hearing ice ice baby playing in the hood when it came out lol.
Now hopefully Vlad understands the difference between his life, and the hood. How he always feel that HIS life translates into what goes on in the HOOD. You forgetting @djvlad that dudes in the hood like to joke and trip. And Em was funny as hell.
Hughley saying he has a house 😂😭
Eminem was on allot of Great collabs! 50 cent, Dr.dre. d12 . Bet used to pay his videos
Forgot about Dre was the 1st song we were listening to from em. And he wrote it. He was accepted once dr dre put his stamp on him
I'm from Carrollton, TX, so I'm obviously biased. Eminem hit so much harder in the hood than Vanilla Ice. TO THIS DAY I still bump the whole To The Extreme, Hard To Swallow, Mind Blowin, Bi Polar, and Platinum Underground 5-piece combo chopped and screwed while driving around the DFW smoking the last of the illegal weeed, DL spoke no lies when it came to "hood" impact. Iceman had mass appeal, he was more, BEP than BDP.
Vanilla Ice basically was a one hit wonder so It wasn't a fair comparison
I haven’t looked at any comments, so this comment may be kind of redundant.
If you’re going to compare when those two artists first dropped, you have to look at the fact that vanilla ice was not on par with Rakim, Chuck D ,Doc or KRS, one who basically were the real lyricist of that time.
When Em dropped, I honestly don’t wanna go down the list of lyricist at that time, but he was hanging with them for sure. As far as the commercial part of it, I’ll let other people debate that.
You said in the hood
Im way richer than vanilla ice . I got an helicopter 🚁 pad in my basement . I have an helicopter pad for my helicopter pad.
Justin Bieber more accepted in the hood
🤣🤣🤣
People like Boosie said M wasn’t bumped in the hood. Plus Rob was gangsta! There are stories about that man that would make you say wow!!

Man nobody i knew was bumping my name is but Ice Ice Baby i loved Vanilla Ice as a kid. I only heard white screaming out the lyrics to my name is. Honestly i only know about 3 people that listen to Em and they are girls. Ive never heard somebody black say put that Em on but his flow is respected
When Vlad say the word “K.” like a female or when he say “Far enough” just know you got him flustered, upset and mad that you smoked his boots on a topic 😂
im not gonna front, the first time i heard Hi My Name Is by Em i was like who the fauq is this goofy white boy. i wasnt trying to give Em no play, then i heard Dre was backing him up. i was like whoa ! let me give this white boy i try and i realized how dope he was. Now the first time i heard Ice, Ice Baby i automatically loved that track.
Ice could dance his ass off and keep up with us. Eminem could only rap and steal your broad.
DL was throwing shade at first smh
Vlad gets super happy when the subject of Vanilla Ice comes up.
White cornball rapper that had help and turned out financially successfull amoungst his peers.
You love that shit don't you Vlad?!
I'm a true Hip Hop fan (Treacherous 3, Spoonie G, Funky 4 + 1 more). AND, I LOVE Queen and David Bowie. All have an amazing catalog of music. When Robbie Van Winkle dropped that pop trash shit, NOBODY who was a DJ in my housing development in Brooklyn played that trash. Also, he released it years later as a heavy metal track and still… Nobody was bumpin’ that trash. Vanilla Bean Latte (Adam Sandler reference) is a one hype wonder.
😅
Nobody played Hi My Name Is either
Vanilla Bean Latte put that trash out years before Marhall dropping classics
Now Vlad tryna act like him and Ice are long time friends, all cuz he got that interview.
Bro why Vlad always be tryna confuse his guests by switching up what he originally said? His initial question was “who was more accepted in the hood” then when Hughley say Em he immediately retorts with “My name is was more accepted than ice ice baby which was an international hit?” Like bro why you tryna switch the question up? Lol
Eminem had the Dre co-sign
Eminem was a battle rapper. Vlad should know this.
You messed up the question vlad. You gotta come correct to DL
