What a glorious occasion. How well Buddy handled it. I was there when Plugger kicked his 1000th. I was there when he passed Gordon Coventry on that same ground. I was watching this on TV from Brisbane feeling darn proud of watching history unfold. (Thinking the whole time and praying that my Swans won't get covid from these people,,,😀)

Not many people watching on tv knew that for the entire last quarter, pretty much everyone behind the goal square was standing up.

You could see how much it qas overflowing near the pitch all throughout the last quarter

I was one of those people. I stood there when he kicked 998. When he kicked 999 everyone started moving down and nobody left at 3QT. It was such an amazing moment when he kicked it and everyone on the fence (including myself) watched the ball slot in and everything else happened from there. It was truly an amazing night and something that I’ll never forget as a lifelong footy fan

I would never rule out a player kicking a thousand career goals in the future. But back on Lance Franklin himself, I watched it at home and could not believe the scale of the pitch invasion that followed; to see the majority of the crowd participate was unprecedented. I cannot find a pitch invasion of that scale in any sport. The Geelong players and match officials had no time to react to what was happening. It was great that Lance Franklin enjoyed the moment and being able to celebrate with his team and fans and that 99.9 % of fans did so appropriately. I was expecting a similar crowd to Franklin kicking his 100th in 2008 or Tony Lockett’s all time kicking record to raid the field. I lament not going to the game.

1:42 2:25 5:07 I was the guy with the green clapper and red swans clapper! Really special moment as a lifelong AFL diehard. I look forward to showing this footage to my future children and telling them about Buddy Franklin 💛🤎 ❤️🤍

Robinson is hopeless. Up there with Ted Whitten final. lol Melbournecentric muppet. SCG is a grand ground of Bradman, Clive Churchill and now Buddy Franklin. I was there at the first game of the Swans in Sydney at the SCG and the years when there were 3,000 people there. AFL is towelling up NRL in Sydney because of the Swans and Buddy. A NRL game at the SFS went head to head with the Swans on Friday night. They got 8,000 people.

Will it ever happen again? 😂 you can win a Coleman kicking 60 goals in a season. No one will come close

I dunno.. I mean, imagine if Buddy pulls a Craig Bradley or Silk, signs on for 3-4 more years, and kicks 75 goals each season. That would put him behind Plugger.

Funny how a couple of the Swans players couldn’t get to the race, and had to leave the field the other end and walk around outside to get back to the rooms

i kinda feel bad because imagine you achieve something so amazing and you can’t even celebrate with your own team first and a bunch of mostly young guys come pushing and shoving phones in your face 💀 I’m glad nothing bad happened and that buddy was happy

Could have been worse, the 1000th could have happened in an away game in Alice Springs or Darwin

It won't happen likely because the scg gets pitch invasions for generations
