    Pretty much anything from 5fdp. I can’t really say that they aren’t talented because they can play, it’s just that they don’t really do anything interesting or exciting with their songwriting or musical ideas (to me).
    One of the reasons I love Slipknot is because I can see them branch out into other styles and keep it relatively interesting. I am a big fan of vol. 3 and their last album WANYK because they had the confidence to write different sounding songs like “spiders” or “my pain” and still have heavier sounding material like “orphan” and “solway firth” and “not long for this world”. Even though they might not always hit the nail on the head or execute it perfectly, they still have an interest in not trying to remain stagnant and repetitive. And for that I can at least respect their efforts
    But bands like 5fdp and disturbed and six feet under just stay in their lane and all of their stuff is really interchangeable and not very distinct. I just don’t really get anything out of it personally. No hate to anyone who does.
    (Also thank you guys for introducing me to Temple of Void, been jamming that recently)

They sound like a weird hybrid of metalcore, melodeath and alt rock in their 2006 plus stuff. I actually noticed how much Anders friden sounds like Olly Sykes(bring me the horizon) when he sings certain parts (like in the bridge of all for me on sounds of a playground) Def not the melodic death giants they once were

    I wholeheartedly disagree with your choice of Diabolus. Maybe it's because I discovered slayer before I learned to be very discerning and had just come off of my nu metal phase but i thought it was good. Definitely not their best but I dont get the comments about the lack of urgency and energy (Scrum?, Point?) It even opens up with Bitter Peace which is a ripping thrasher if I've ever heard one. I've always looked at this record as Slayer showing the world what nu metal could sound like if it were actually good. Spot on with all the others though.

    • @saltpeter7429

      Necrotic Nick- Strangely enough, I was in my nu metal phase when I got Diabolus but that wasn't what I wanted from Slayer. I wanted that hyper aggressive fast sound again because that was kinda my escape from a lot of the more groove centric metal that was out then. Bitter Peace is a banger and Scrum and Point are decent but the rest of it is a really lackluster listen. It just felt like all the energy had left the band for the most part and they'd been bucking trends for years but here they were settling in one. Yeah, it's still not for me.

      @@thrallsofmetal Yeah, I suppose in light of some of the other songs on the record I can see your point though I do really like Stain of Mind. I don't have any metal friends so your content is quite refreshing. Keep it up!

    • @carlosjantarada7212
      @carlosjantarada7212 2 года назад

      I agree. More than Nu Metal I think many of the tracks there are hard core inspired (lots of Biohazard influences especially on Stain Of Mind, Love To Hate, Wicked and Screaming From The Sky). On the other hand there's a couple of Nu Metal drum lines here and there (Death's Head is a blatant example although I kinda like the song) and others that mix some of the whispered intros with some elements of Divine Intervention (namely Desire and Overt Enemy). Other than that the remainder is pretty much in Divine's vein with In The Name Of God, Point and Scrum being cool enough songs as far as I'm concerned. Then there's Bitter Peace and man... this song wrecks everything in it's path. After the intro this is pristine top notch Seasons In The Abyss like Slayer and has a place in my band's top ten songs. So do I think Diabolus is a great album?... well not quite. IMO it lacks some consistency and there are too many songs I regard as fillers rendering it a bit uneven. On the other hand it features some great moments here and there, the Hard Core influence does not shock me and to be fair Slayer was the band that changed the least during the 90's from the so called big 4. IMO God Hates Us All (with the exception of Disciple, New Faith and Payback - all good songs) sounds way more Nu Metal to me (plus I really dislike its guitar sound) and apart from the songs I mentioned is absolutely dull. Not to mention Repentless that IMO is a void of ideas and a drag to listen for more than a couple of songs. But even those two albums aren't garbage per se. Only drop dead boring.

      @@thrallsofmetal I definitely agree that music taste is unique to the individual . I'm just glad I commented on this video because I've listened Divine, Diabolus, God hates,and Christ illusion back to back to back trying to understand the dislike and I think Its that divine intervention and Diabolus was them trying to find a new sound and slowly started turning in a new direction that was still heavy and most importantly Sounded like Slayer to them and the fans. They couldn't just keep pumping ot Reign in blood so they started to experiment with sound and effects on the guitar on divine , for example at 1:45 on fictional reality that swimming guitar almost sounds like it belongs in a cannibal corpse song. Then on Diabolus it seems like Tom Araya is kind of in the spotlight on most of the songs and they are flowing in and out of the Trash metal box they grew so comfortable in. You can hear the seed being planted from the Stain of mind , overt enemy, perversions of pain, and love to hate you. That's a solid block of Slayer and why I love Diabolus In Musica. It totally bleeds into God hates up till their last album. I guess maybe I'm just not a good critic and I'm rambling on , but does this make any sense to anyone?

On Morbid I thought on release its 4/10 but then I asked myself, if its that bad, why I cant stop listening for it 2 weeks later, and it went for me to 8/10. As for Grave, it was my wtf? Grave album for years, but I gave it a propper chance, and now I love it, its like little brother of Wolverine Blues. Same ilike people hated Swansong for years, I loved it from day 1, Go to hell is my fav carcass song of all times. Same like ist cool to hate on GnR specially without Slash, Chinese Democracy is actually an amazing album, if you listen to it without hate for the sake of hating. I feel like the entire hate for Diabolus comes from about 4 seconds of a riff that sounds similar to a Coal Chamber riff, nothing else on the album sucks, in the name of god is arguably the heaviest Slayer riff Kerry ever wrote

    I understand you need variety too, if the list was real it would just be all Metallicas albums released after their self titled, illud, super collider and a couple of other choice ones like that korn album that im glad i never listened to.

    I actually thought Lulu was worse than St. Anger. Not defending St. Anger at all, because it's an album full of suck and dung, dung, dung, dung, dung... uh, that snare is awful. But I laugh at how bad it is, and it provides at least some entertainment value, at best. Lulu bores the crap out of me and I just don't like Lou Reed at all. I'm not sure what the hell Metallica was thinking. It's two discs of steaming pile of garbaggio.
    One album that I own that is not on this list that I don't like was Never Say Die! from Black Sabbath. Outside of the title track, which is okay, and maybe Junior's Eyes, which could have some salvage value, I don't like that record. It's got some cringy songs. I love their first six albums and the two afterwards with Dio, but Never Say Die! sucked, imo. I'm sure I have others, but that's the one right now, besides St. Anger, that sticks out to me.

Extreme Metal is far too abrasive for me, I respect it but it’s not for me.

      Necrotic Nick- Politics and metal often intersect and most people know how I feel about stuff so I don’t feel the need to go in depth there.

    Non Metallica fans should not be commenting on anything Metallica, save that for the grown-ups. Go in the corner and listen to garbage death metal or Bieber metal. I'm sure you have put out something better? No just hopping on the hate train because it's what people do. You're dismissed

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 года назад

      Necrotic Nick- I've been a Metallica fan since I was a teen but whether you're a fan or not doesn't mean you're not allowed to have an opinion them. Hell, the reason some people aren't fans of Metallica is due to their opinion. Also, being a fan doesn't mean you not allowed to acknowledge that they've made some divisive albums in their career. Also, by your "logic" I suppose I could say "non-death metal fans should not be commenting on anything death metal" but that would be stupid, right? It's just an opinion. Calm your Metalli-tits.

      lol. A butthurt Metallica fan. I've been listening to them since '87. They were my entry to metal along with Megadeth and Over Kill. Still, even great bands put out shit and St. Anger was terrible. One of the worst metal albums ever released. I say that as a fan of their music. Bands are not beyond criticism....and the "put out something better" argument is absolutely one of the worst arguments you can make. I hate the Nissan Juke vehicle but I can't make a better car. I can't stand Apple products but I can't make a better computer or Iphone. You can dislike and criticize something that you can't replicate.

    Hey mate, just be fully aware that people are pausing you to check out each bad album in another tab and some will actually like it and even buy it, so you all could really be doing something positive in this. BTW Dislocated Styles isn't bad...it's an extreme type of bad!

      Necrotic Nick- Hey, if people find stuff they enjoy in this then more power to them. Taste is all subjective so one person's trash can end up being another's treasure. That Dislocated Styles album needs to be buried in a landfill.

      Even though Vol 8 is probably the worst Anthrax album, I don’t really think it’s that bad compared to other bands’ low points. And I actually like Stomp 442.

    Had a couple good experiences from some of these, personally:
    I thought Illud Divinum Insanus still had a couple of good tracks on it, but there were definitely some horrible tracks too.
    I actually liked Hating Life. "Two of Me" had some riffs I particularly really loved.
    I enjoyed Diabolus In Musica too.
    Agree with everything else though! Always appreciate hearing thoughts and opinions from this channel. 🤘🏻

    People write off that Morbid album for the first track and Radicult, but Blades Of Baal and Exsisto Vulgore are some of the most furious tracks they have written

    • @danielwieten8617
      @danielwieten8617 Год назад +2

      Yes, Blades For Baal is one of their best songs ever imo. Just imagine it on Covenant or Domination and it would blend right in. But yeah, just make it an EP:
      Existo Vulgoré
      Blades for Baal
      10 More Dead
      Nevermore

    In no particular order:
    Metallica The Black album,
    Annihilator Set the World on Fire,
    Six Feet Under Nightmares of the Decomposed
    Judas Priest Ram it Down
    Bruce Dickinson Tattooed Millionaire
    Celtic Frost Cold Lake
    Megadeth Risk
    Cancer Black Faith
    Anthrax We've come for you all
    Testament Souls of Black

      @magellan1000 3 года назад +1

      I love Tattooed Millionaire. Sure, it’s more hard rock than metal, but it’s got a bunch of great tracks. I’m a big fan of We’ve Come For You All as well! And Souls of Black isn’t as good as some other Testament albums but it’s still damn good IMO.

      Just about to say, I like your list, all but "Tattooed Millionaire". Oh well, cant agree on everything. Fuckin BLACK album still gets the controversy going, Most folks I share taste with love JUSTICE but felt the burn and betrayal on the follow up. It's because I was so excited and hopeful. Lol.

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  3 года назад +1

      Necrotic Nick- Honestly, I love Testament's Souls of Black and We Have Come for You All has some solid tracks on it. The Black Album exists and I never have to listen to it again. Do those count as compliments? lol. I haven't listened to that Bruce Dickinson album so I can't say anything about it but I agree with the rest of them.

      @@thrallsofmetal Nick, if you’re in the mood for some late 80s-style hard rock sometime then you’d probably like Tattooed Millionaire. Just don’t go into it expecting metal or anything that sounds like Maiden (except the vox obviously).
