Larry, thanks for watching.
I enjoy watching
exactly what i want to build ,, probably use square tubing though
Building a custom motorcycle trailer. Basically an aluminum Christian cross shape. The top part is the rear, it'll be box aluminum big enough to fit a hitch mounted hammock stand. These type of spindles will be fitted to either end of the horizontal cross piece, and the tongue will be at the bottom. I'll have a square wooden platform for tieing down camping supplies where the cross intersects. Should be super lightweight when it's finished, hoping for under 40lbs depending on which wheels I get.
Cool build thanks for sharing.
Tubing. I have lots of Black iron tubing with 90s , couplings, Ts etc around. Can you just screw most of it together? And only weld where necessary? You have nice clean tubing cuts and welds by the way. Nice job. I am trying to use up stuff we have around. A welder says my pipe has a coating you have to burn off.Your thoughts?
I think you can grind off the coating and also i yhink you really should weld all the pieces so you have the strength.
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for showing how to weld a spindle for a trailer axle. I am looking at
building my own camper trailer with an off road suspension but i have never welded before.
I live in Australia and have noticed via youtube the different styles of suspension there are around.
I wondering if you would be able to shed some thoughts on how one would go about fabricating an
independent suspension for a camper trailer.
Kind Regards

Thank you for watching, i'm not sure i would have to do some research.
If you needed shims, why even take the time to grind the seam out. Also, I’d there not a pipe and spindle that would work without shimming? Looking to build an axle myself.
Welding metals of drastically different thicknesses always seems like witchcraft to know where to set the welder. Do you remember roughly how hard you were pushing your welder when you welded those spindles in?
Just welding on issues
Why not just weld the spindle to the down stem and put gussets direct onto the spindle?
That would work also
You need yourself a file sander it will change your life
Never heard of a foul sander I'll have to look them up
@@Robinson-Homestead they are great little grinders i have one from wen its a 1/2x18 belt removes material pretty quick
4minute on sanding
Thanks for watching.
