    A heads up on backup camera install. If your camera comes with a wire (probably red) in the RCA Camera Cable. You tie that to the back trigger in the head unit. This avoids splicing into the fuse box.

    Hello. I love your video series. You have done an amazing job on this Ex! And I fully agree about not being able to hear while traveling. I was wondering what size Kilmat you got? They offer 80 and 50ml. And why both of them (the Noico and the Kilmat)? Did you do it for better soundproofing?

    • @GSXR1000Rob
      @GSXR1000Rob  2 года назад +1

      I used the 80mil and you are exactly right, the Noico foam is simply an added layer of sound dampening.

    Rob- Terrific videos! I am starting a radio upgrade on my 2001 Excursion and have a question for you. There is a second factory 20 pin plug/harness plugged into the back of the factory radio which I believe controls the speaker control module at the back end of the center console for the middle seat passengers to control the radio volume. I noticed that you had NO harness plugged into it when you installed the Dasaita Radio into the dash. Does your speaker control module function properly? Any thoughts ?

    • @GSXR1000Rob
      @GSXR1000Rob  3 года назад

      Thank you and great question! You are correct, I did not use the second factory plug. I don't think any of those middle row controls will work now. However, I haven't tested this since the truck is still down awaiting the engine and I currently do not even have batteries in the truck to enable me to test this. Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.

    • @Alphagrey
      @Alphagrey 2 года назад

      @@GSXR1000Rob That 20 pin plug also has the steering wheel volume controls, which I'm currently trying to track down the wiring diagram for so that I can control my apple carplay touchscreen radio in my 2004 Excursion.

    • @GSXR1000Rob
      @GSXR1000Rob  2 года назад +1

      Wouldn’t be as easy or at least couldn’t be done the same way. The 3rd row uses hooks to lock in versus being bolted in. But anything is possible!

    Great job, question. The rod you used to secure the second row seats, I see you mounted it to the TOP of the steel plate, I've seen another guy do something similar.. is there a reason to not have mounted it under the plate? and for the stereo.. did you use a stereo mounting kit since you had to Dremel out some pieces? If not, how did you secure it? Thanks man.

    How do you adjust the HVAC controls. The screen is blocking them. I also assume that the rear DVD player does not work either.

    • @GSXR1000Rob
      @GSXR1000Rob  3 года назад

      The screen does block the HVAC controls. I can easily reach under the screen to adjust the knobs, just can’t see what I’m doing. I haven’t driven the truck yet to see how much of a pain this is going to be.
      And correct, the rear DVD player is not operational. There may be a way to operate the DVD player through this unit but I did not even look into it.

    • @GSXR1000Rob
      @GSXR1000Rob  2 года назад

      Trying to remember since it has been a few months and work has me traveling so I’m unable to verify, but I’m 99% sure it simply uses the power to the backup lights as the trigger. I don’t believe I had to touch the fuze box for this. I will verify soon and get back to you!
