Man, Bobby was my guy after 2001(don't recall watching before hand but I know my parents did) and it was great to see him stay up front nearly the entire race and come on top to my mom's favorite driver. This is the Atlanta track I want!
She should have said “congratulations for being the only driver in history to make the points format change 5 different times” 😂 That’s how much of a legend Matt Kenseth was.
Matt Kenseth took over the points lead & held it for the rest of the season which is a record for most weeks leading the points. Unless NASCAR gets rid of the chase, this record will stand forever
The Labontes of 2013 suck compared to the Labontes of 2003. Terry is a hasbeen still, hasnt been on good equipment since 2006, its hard to see a Champion do that.
Looking back at his stints with Rudd and Labonte, Fatback McSwain was really good but had a tendency to wear out his welcome. Here's a guy who got productive season with those drivers- Rudd was top 10 in 3 seasons w/him in the Havoline, Labonte's last great season was in 2003 and he had a solid first 5 1/2 months before surprisingly parting ways- but for such a productive crew chief, you'd think he'd have lasted longer with said drivers.
This was two guys that race hard, but fair. Bobby had the run through 4 to get to his bumper. Made the move to the outside of Gordon and Jeff gave him room. He could've closed the door, but he didn't. I honestly believe he gave him room because of how Bobby races. He raced hard, but clean.

"He pulled a Linda Ronstadt on him." "A Blew By You" Lmfao I have always remembered that reference, for 15 years now... But I couldn't remember which race it was said.
2:03:40 "All the cars are down here in 3 and 4 and it happened down there in 1 and 2 and its a complaint about oil, they're not even married yet." LMAO I love Waltrip's commentary.
FUCK Kenseth was so good and what a great crew he had in this era. I still think Kenseth should have a ride but he is prob fed up with all the bullshit and the state of nascar today. Old rules he woulda won another championship.
At least 1 more. Just like Harvick. Kenseth was a BEAST in 2013 and 2015. I'm convinced he prob would have won it in 15 until Penske started fucking with him.

Yeah man, Atlanta was his track. This was his 6th win there
The first of Ryan Newman's whopping 11 2003 poles. With this new era of knockout qualifying, I don't think anyone's gonna approach that for a while.
I hate knockout qualifying
7 years later and we’ve just done away with qualifying all together
@@lalex3431 that's an engineered stat lmfao you know that's primarily because of covid. you should go into journalism

Bobby dominates!
I thought you didn't like the Labonte's. You called Terry a has-been.

***** I can tell you respect him.
I love this track.

I know he won at Homestead later that year, but this to me feels in retrospect like Bobby Labonte's last hurrah.
That race at Homestead Bobby got lucky with Bill cutting a tire on the backstretch
And also the 2007 Busch race at Talladega as well
