I DON´T know what the great Peter Gabriel could say about this cover, but, if I was him, i´d be JUST TOO DAMN PROUD OF IT ...thanks for posting it, man !!!!
Honestly, I don't understand why many critics and people considered this cover as bad. Is it because it is a nu metal band like Coal Chamber doing it? I don't get it. It's annoying that some people tend to mock and disown everything that musicians in this genre have done, they think that makes them cool, but in fact they are just being pretentious arrogant people who can't think for themselves. In my opinion, this is a great cover of Peter Gabriel's song, which stays true to the strangeness of the original song, but also gives the song a fresh face. Ozzy was a perfect choice to assist the song, because he was a big fan of Peter Gabriel as well.
I actually had the privilege of being in the studio as Ozzy was tracking his vocal for this song. I was MTV Exec at the time, and Sharon had been meeting with me to pitch a show called, "Dinner With Ozzy". Soon after, I left the network, and the show became....you guessed it, The Osbourne's! It was a great hang! I remember the producer trying to give Ozzy some direction on the main line...and Ozzy saying...(in Ozzy voice...) "That's Not The Way Ozzy Would Sing It". LOL. Classic!
Legend Group Records I remember watching The Osbourne’s all the time. I bet you have lots of interesting stories to tell when you worked for MTV. I do have good memories of MTV in the mid 90’s, when I was teenager. Wow that was so long ago.

It's a really, really bad cover. Both Dez AND Ozzy are entirely off timing, off key, and drop notes at the detriment of the song. The instrumentation is muddy and really only hits the main riff. If they were speaking in a different language, you would NEVER realize it was a cover of Shock the Monkey. Ozzy's involvement is the only reason this has any perceived positivity whatsoever - if someone fairly obscure produced this, people would be completely shitting on it.
That totally rocks, best , I don't know, collaboration between them, two seriously hard core bands is only how I can describe it. And the result is freaking awesome.

+IFIXUR360 Being teenagers doesn't excuse the poor mixing and generally substandard production. This isn't just the bands fault, this is a concerted effort from all parties to fuck up a piece of music.
+Jack Hanson doesn't sound too poorly produced to me. played my CD and it sounds like it was produced fine. all tracks to each instrument are clear and not overlapping. everything is pretty much in harmony throuought the entire album. considering when this album dropped road runner records had some of the best music producers and sound engineers in the business.
+IFIXUR360 vocal mixing is poor, no attempt is made to make the two singers voices occupy separate spaces, they're just slammed together. Ozzys superior vocal skill is made forgettable by poor mixing. The guitar tone is awful, if they wanted sludge they should have used keyboards with synth packages, they've lost the dynamic range and created a heavily compressed, flat, lifeless tone for the guitars. And yes, you are correct, however: excellent sound engineers can't disguise awful production decisions.
