Always happy to hear Danny's lack of enthusiasm for rock climbing. All my mountain friends prefer rock climbing over hiking or scrambling so I'm glad I'm not alone out there in my outdoor preferences.
I don't prefer *any* of them. They're all a means to an end. I do like to see the pretty things with as little chance of death as possible, so I'll pick hiking and scrambling over rock climbing too.
Nice one guys, Zion is such a haven of adventure. You guys have done a little canyoneering in your videos. You could certainly get further into that pursuit in the tight and wet enclaves of Zion. It is a canyoneering wonderland.
I was visiting Zion for the first time in my life just a few days ago. Zion is breathtaking. Although, I must say that many people act like idiots hiking steep narrow trails and icy patches in tennis shoes, sandals, etc. I was amazed by their carelessness. Great vid!
I’d love to see more video of the more tricky down climbs. That’s my issue when scrambling, anything up seems so easy while the same thing coming down often really freaks me out, especially when the first move (or the middle move) involves placing a foot down into space without ever quite reaching a firm point of contact… love to see some better technique than my horrid attempts.
Yes! I live in the mountains of northern CO, I go out climbing stuff almost every weekend. I sometimes head up stuff and can easily tell I'm going to have a tough time getting down but figure eh I'll work it out. And soon it's time to pay the piper. Never a good feeling. Afterwards, yeah. But staring down that 40ft cliff wondering how this is going to work out, not great.
I’ve been to the top of Mt. Kinesava before, but used the traditional route up that they took down, which is not the same as the ridge they took up. By the way, there are some amazing Puebloan petroglyphs up there.
@@medicinegone imo having a 40 m rope and knowledge of how to rig a natural anchor and be willing to leave shit on a mountain is no substitute for good downclimbing skills but an insurance policy I appreciate.
Thanks for taking us along. I really enjoyed this video as I enjoy most all your videos! Great job. Looked a little sketch trying to find that route on the way down, but you guys looked deep and found some purchase.
Always enjoyable watching you climb. I'll bet your editing room floor footage would be a great sub channel. I love the surfaces views most. Thankyou Chase and Aaron.
Five years ago the first thing we learned about Aaron was that he "is good peoples." ruclips.net/video/MZi5HP5ejHI/видео.html His bit at 1:10 with the effort he went to find skiing for his friend's birthday confirms this in spades.
Posted about this on the “extra” channel. But a behind the scenes podcast would be awesome… great place to talk about Danny’s puffy. Lost or found we will never know :)
Yes people in Utah affectionately call it Zions. But your pronunciation is spot on… Zion rhymes with lion. (Not that funky way out of staters keep saying it.)
How does your buddy like that gossamer gear kumo? Really liking the potential versatility of that pack for backpacking, day hikes, and carry on adventures.
Can't say I'm a huge fan. It is light and has good easy access, but it provides no support/frame between the waist band and the shoulder straps which means that you end up carrying most of the weight on the shoulders. That gets a bit annoying/tiresome for long trips with 20+ pounds, which seems to be what this pack should be best at.
@@A-Aa-ron Woah thanks man for reply. I don't anticipate being over 18 pounds total for my backpacking trips. And I won't be doing big miles on those. I also have to say thanks to you and the boys. Mediocre videos have helped me finally find the motivation to quit smoking and start running. Extra motivating that I was able to knock a 5k out in 30 minutes right off rip. Stay cool and healthy out there, looking forward to the next video.
@@jthitchens2672 That's awesome JT, keep it up man. Yeah, I bought the pack for EcoChallenge Fiji. It had plenty of room for 20-30 pounds of gear, but I quickly regretted not having more support for long days with that much weight. If you're only carrying 18 pounds, you could probably get away with using a pack with less volume. I think Danny and Christof have a few pack review videos on their Extra Mediocre channel
So what kind of shoes do you guys like for these scrambles? I'm familiar with running shoes, but not necessarily ones that allow for safe scrambles like this. I'm mostly doing trail runs at this point, and looking to add some elevation runs in the future
I’m from the East Coast looking to go on a ski trip to the west. (Montana, Utah, And Idaho and maybe some states in between) What would you guys say is the best time for skiing in the west?
Danny might have botched the name but not how most people do. Kudos to all for pronouncing "Zion" correctly. Zion rhymes with "lion," NOT "lie on." For the love of God, please, everyone, tell a friend.
What a cliffhanger on the fate of the down jacket...
Did you forget your down jacket? Great video, looked fun.
Bet your comment just reminded Danny, 1.5 mth later
I need to know
ok im here to know this xD
I'm here to check on the jacket
I need to know
Happy birthday Danny! Always happy to see you in my feed! But dude, you just cannot leave us hanging on the puffy status!
I was waiting for an update on it too!
You know what they say about people who lose their down jackets. 😉
Same!
Any update here?
@@dennisnh7 schrödinger's puffy jacket, I'm telling you man!

I'm so glad he was corrected when he said "Zions." My skin crawled for a second.
Such a great feeling to find a cairn when you need one most.
Glad to see we aren’t the only ones worried about the jacket lol great video hope the jacket made it back too
Most underrated channel by far. Thanks for adventuring for me.

Now did he get the jacket is what I'm curious about
Makes my day when you guys upload.
The helmut over the cap is a good look. Cheers

Oh man, this video has the A-Team! Love your videos, guys!
The only channel I have notifications on for. Love this channel, keep it up!
Wish I knew why MA vids don't come to the top of my feed. One of my favs!!!!!!
You make the best videos. Thanks and keep it up. A fan from the Alps.
Damn that looked fun, I love beautiful scrambles above the desert - wish we had routes like that in Canada
Summit view is beautiful.

If you haven't already watched it, their Mt. Moran CMC route video has some pretty great footage of the downclimb.
@@TheDionBlasterMethod thanks, I’ll look for it that one for sure!

What a treat. I like Danny's birthday - everyone else does lots of filming too!
Danny, I always appreciate your humor but it was especially on point at Zion haha
Danny is turning into "The Dude"....cannot remember what day it is. :). My favorite channel....makes my day when there is a new upload.

Was in Zion about the same time, definitely headed back this spring for the climbing. Great video as always.
Glad you decided to go to the peak. Awesome views!
one of the gnarliest day trips I've seen from y'all recently
Well done chaps, another top video, keep up the good work. And many happy returns Danny.
That was super cool, I love Zion but I've never climbed there beyond easy scrambling. Good work, I'm glad you spotted the cairns eventually!
That's definitely one way to get away from all the crowds of Zion! Great work gentlemen!
Danny has the coolest life. So jealous of all these trips. Keep the videos coming!
Take a year off in a van before you get married and have kids
Definitely like these "off the beaten path" episodes.
Well I just about s**t my pants watching that one! Yikes some of the scenes were pretty scary. Fantastic video as usual.
Happy Birthday 🎉 Danny!! 😎

Wow, what a scramble! Looks like a fun birthday!
Made my day! Thanks for posting this!

belated happy birthday Danny! love the shoes... La sportiva TX guide
Ayy, finally got to one within the first 10 minutes. Love your stuff guys!
Happy Bday!
Very nice adventure guys, the only thing missing is a puffy update!
Was wondering when your birthday video would come out. Sorry you couldn't find good powder to enjoy but the climb looked amazing. Happy Birthday!!
Zions Bank... Zion National Park. Such a Utah thing to call it Zions lol.

Happy Birthday, Mountain Goat :)
Way to go boys! Thank you Chase and Aaron. Hearing Zion's National Park makes me cringe.
I also yelled at my screen when you said zions
My favorite part was the Zion correction LOL
Always a great day when there's a new Medicore Amateur!
Happy Birthday weekend Danny! Funny you didn’t know what day it was!!!
Awesome video! Great way to enjoy Zion!
Wow, as I watched you climb up I was thinking, "How they going to get down?!" Belated happy birthday Danny.
Belated Happy Birthday Danny! You guys ski in the winter pretty consistently, so I say "Yay, more climbing Danny with Aaron & Chase :-) "
I’ll be fine in my bed watching crazy people climb giant sketchy mountains thanks
Btw i have indeed spent my entire like in Florida and am happy for it
Awesome work as usual!
You must make a "Lead Certified" MA shirt
You gotta show us those spicy down climbs Danny!

Three different people on three different paths - sounds like a guys trip!
Considering that Mediocre Amatueurs usually dress like skittles, I have no doubt that Danny found his coat.
The editing of the technical climbing was very good. Excellent film making.
Did Danny remember his down jacket?!
Man I wish I had buddies to do this type of stuff with. Unfortunately I’m from the Midwest where people being into this stuff is rare.
That’s because the Midwest…at least the Midwest in my area, doesn’t have cool environments like this. Instead, surrounded by corn and soybean fields.
Happy Birthday!
Hell yeah been needing a new video from you all
You should do the west slabs of Olympus this summer 🙃
They did that before, something about "how to get on the evening News"
You guyz are too HardCoRe! ^_^
happy birthday!
I always laughed when Blake used say Zion’s constantly
What about your down jacket?! Happy belated birthday.
Still the best channel on YT
Would love if you guys compiled a playlist of the songs you use on your videos.

Me watching this video in Miami: "He's out of line, but he's right"
Would appreciate a few Zion NP rattlesnake encounter stories!
Hey hey, we have 'hills' in Florida :)
Sick Video!
I just want to know how you got all those shots from the side while your friends were climbing the 5.7
So my burning question was left unresolved by the end of the video. Did Danny find his jacket?
Just me, sitting here wondering if Danny found his jacket...
They turn around and go home all satisfied, and I'm thinking: it ain't over yet, boys. Getting cliffed out is serious.
Happy Birthday, Danny! Almost 2 months later, but who’s keeping track..? 😂
Very cool 👍🏼
