      So glad you come back time and again - but, Yin and Restorative can also serve as GREAT injury prevention too by helping keep your body mobile and your connective tissue healthy.

    Saddle pose is my nemesis but you made it so accessible and my hips & psoas now feel 'eased' up. Thank you Aprille. So glad to have your authentic teaching on RUclips.

      Thank you! Saddle pose used to be my nemesis too - it has taken a few years to really find it in my body but now that I have, I truly love the pose. I often think that the poses that are the most challenging are the ones we learn to love more deeply because we worked with them so much! May you have a wonderful week! Peace, Aprille

    I have been doing this video for 5 months and it has helped my quads and hip flexors loosen tremendously. I no longer feel tight in those areas and it has helped my knees too with stiffness but what i am most proud of is i can stay 3 or 4 minutes in saddle pose without cursing. Thank you, Aprille for this video and all the videos you post online. Forever grateful.

      Thank you Gilda - that was the BEST description of change ever and I love that Saddle pose is now a bit more of a friend. Know that when I started yoga, Saddle pose was something I only dreamed of ever getting partially into but with a lot of patience, it is now one of my favorite poses to just hang out in : ) So glad this helped and thank you!!! Peace, Aprille

      Thank you Anna! I think a lot of people don’t know about the psoas but have probably heard of it. Keeping the psoas area healthy can do so much for overall back and hip opening and definitely gives a sense of deep release. Thank you for joining me and I wish you a wonderful week...Peace, Aprille 🙏🏻💕

    Really enjoyed this. Hero and saddle are excruciating for me, but not with props and just doing one side at a time. You are so right about being told in every class to not go take your knee out to/past your feet, so it felt a little strange at first but gave a good stretch and didn't seem like it was pushing it just holding still and being mindful. I would never have requested a psoas practice---I'm more aware that that my hamstrings and piriformis are so tight, but this seemed like just what I needed for today. And that's a very pretty top you're wearing!

    • @YogaRangerStudio
      @YogaRangerStudio  6 лет назад

      Thanks Ellen! I never wear white {with pets and kids it just doesn’t stay that way} but I saw this and couldn’t resist! I saw that Paul Grilley teaches dragons with the option to take knee over toes and was intrigued. After some tries, I found I enjoyed it for a very different stretch and it worked places that I hadn’t reached before in quite that way. It is good to practice many variations to move the fascia around! So glad you enjoyed this and it was what you needed today. Have a wonderful weekend! Peace, Aprille 🙏🏻💜🙂

    • @YogaRangerStudio

      Dragon pose is the most Yang pose of the Yin poses but it does get deep into the whole hip and thigh area. A supported bridge pose can be relaxing but always check with her doctor before doing anything that might not be advisable after surgery or with an injury. Glad you enjoyed this and thank you for joining me! Peace, Aprille 🤗❤️🙏🏻

    Thank you so much for this class! How often do you recommend using this practice? For the last six months or so my left hip has become very tight as a fun new part of that time of the month. It seems like the pain is mostly from the psoas. This practice has helped tremendously, but I don't want to over do it.

      If you sit a lot in your daily life, using a hip flexor opening class could be useful each week. I have some shorter ones you can use as well to open this space or you can use hip opening all around. I hope you feel much better and thanks for joining me!

    Thank you so much for this practice. Are there any poses here that you would advise someone with milde hernia disc to avoid?
    Also in the half dragon fly and half hero pose with one leg bent behind and the other stretched out to the side, I feel the stretch many in the quads rather than the psoas. Am I doing this correctly?
    Excited to be attending the module 1 Yin Yoga training in October.
    Really enjoy your practices.

    • @YogaRangerStudio
      @YogaRangerStudio  4 года назад

      When it comes to herniated discs, there can be so many variations and complications that I advise reaching out to your healthcare provider or physical therapist on what poses or positions would be best to avoid for your personal situation. This class is for psoas and hip flexors and hips so if you feel it in any of these areas then you are doing it right! I often use quad openers to get deeper into the hip flexor area. Excited to have you join me in October and I look forward to seeing you live! Thank you for joining me - Peace, Aprille

      Hip pain can be caused by various issues/muscles/ligaments/damage. This practice is focused more on the front side of the hip. If you are feeling a lot of pain or consistent pain throughout the day - I would highly recommend reaching out to your health care provider or a physical therapist for a diagnosis and specific movements for your situation. If it just feels tight, then you might try one of these to see if this reaches that area better and I would also recommend rolling out the glutes several times a week with tennis balls:
