+Kenshin_44 The camera during the dragon portion is definitely the hardest part of the fight. Complete and utter bullshit. And the final phase is tough, it's made much more difficult because you have to fight the camera/dragon to reach that phase every time. It takes much longer to learn his moveset because of this.
+Joshua Bahr First phase is a joke. Camera is fine as long as you stay in front of the boss. Second phase is ridiculous. I had to stack lightning res and upgrade a lothric knight shield for the lightning res, and just block his speedy attacks. Didn't have the reflexes for that fight.
+Oscar Axe First Phase is cheap, that's the problem. Dragon is ridiculously hard to even hit (I slashed through his neck with my GS and it did not register as hit) and the fire-to-ground attack has a ridiculously large AoE and a lenght that can hit you 2 times (which is basically death since the breath takes more than half you health.
+Sneaky Dexter if you stay in the middle you get hit 3 times. Even though you can block it. If you get hit 3 times (if you blocked the first hit) you're basically fucked ^_^
+Joshua Bahr I disagree completely, in fact most people I've seen who struggle on the Nameless King consistently struggle with the second phase more. The first phase's camera can be a pain, but the dragon is pretty quick to die due to lower health pool and ease of staggering for a critical attack. The thing, imo, people are missing, is that the camera mostly bugs out when you get under the dragon. But you don't want to be under the dragon in the first place because it's more likely to do less beneficial attacks like leaping up and breathing fire. Control your spacing properly by trying to maintain your position in front of the dragon and you will have 0 issues with the camera whatsoever.
@@hassangx5272 when you kill the boss but get killed by a previously casted aoe attack directly after... at least in ds3 you still win the fight if you died after unlike previous games or at least ds1
@@devinnall2284 just finished my first play through and I didn’t realize that I was supposed to use the storm ruler. I just killed him regularly. It seemed more challenging and fun now that I see how easy and trivial the fight is with the stormruler.
@@bloodredrain I struggled so much with dancer although I did fight her as early as possible so idk if it would be easier if I fought her later down the line. But her and pontiff were really the only bosses that I truly struggled with for a long time.
You know that moment when you die to a boss and want to throw your controller at the wall so bad but stop and calm your self and go like " *I'll get him this time* "
Bruh the soul of cinder was the hardest I remember getting so excited after I beat him only for him to get back up and summon the spirit of holy hellfire itself and play air tennis with my corpse
@@josesalazarvaldes6768 hahah I'm the same dude, I killed soul of cinder first time I think in my blind playthrough but died countless times to that bitch's scythe
@bruh0237 yo u know how surprised I was when I saw the first ranking for the souls bosses from demod cause I killed pontiff first try once alone and once with my friend I thought he was a joke lol
@bruh0237 Most people aren't going to realise that they can parry him on their first playthrough. I doubt I would've died 11 times to him on my first playthrough if I had known lol.
In Aldrich’s fight, you apparently can hear the cries of Gwyndolyn in the background, hinting that the fact that Aldrich was halfway through devouring him while you’re fighting.
+HDmexiqtioner I don't actually remember a scene before the fight. Is that part of Siegward's quest? And I'll be doing a list on the top NPCs before to long. But spoiler alert: I have a feeling that grossly incandescent phantom in your avatar might be showing up ;)
I know this isn't a popular choice, but Anakin Skywalker was easily my hardest boss. You walk in and him and his partner Kenobi fight you, Kenobi was easiest to take out first, but Anakin kept getting me in that dismemberment/execution dual lightsaber combo. I still haven't beaten him to this day
+Al Capwn Its a boss you can never truly beat, one which will hamper you at every move and kill those of us who are less careful. Truly the the peak in boss design.
+Al Capwn Well at least the Camera Speed is Adjustable, Sensitivity wise it always Helps. i had to turn it up all the way to Fight the Nameless King. got him first Try But not really because when i first encountered him i immediately boned out after 3 minutes of fighting him after killing the Dragon, i Assumed the Dragons head was the Weakness because fromsoft hints hard at being able to One shot a Fucking Dragon by Plunging its head in. So Yeah the first phase was Cake. it Reminded me of That one Dragon Fight in Dark souls 2 where you kill this Wyvern that looks Orange, In that Laboratory Area with all the Titan Hippos. the dragon pretty much had the same moveset and that boss was too easy. But Yeah on the Nameless King Topic. Man, he was a challenge. But with high Sensitivity it felt Great to have the Adrenaline and the panicking
+HaohmaruHL How do you stay locked on when it unlocks every time he moves? The problem is that he can attack from two directions. The dragon and the king. If you are attacking the dragon it's almost impossible to see when the king telegraphs his attacks.
I have no clue how Aldrich got this high up in the ranking. Felt like a slightly beefier Pinwheel when I first encountered him. The same goes for the Dancer, while a cool boss, it is almost trivialized by its meagre health pool. Lorian, Champion Gundyr, Dragonslayer Armour, and Old Demon King are all harder than those two imo. Still, interesting to see how different perceptions of boss difficulty can be.
On my first play through but I agree with Aldrich and Dancer because I managed to get past them both with 5 attempts combined, Might’ve gotten lucky with Aldrich idk
i think it depends on build and weapon choice. aldrich was the first boss who really kicked my a**. i went through all my embers and had to buy out the shop before i finally beat him. slow great sword and not a ton of stamina didn't pair well with him teleporting and having to run from the arrow rain. i died to him more than nameless king.
I think Pontiff Sulivyan is the perfect example of a boss which is so damn difficult but also makes so much fun at the same time I mean the music, his attacks, the arena, so beautiful
The first time I played the game - I beat him on my first try - which is not how it usually goes when I play video games… but afterwards I felt like I was HIM - - was about to call up my crush cos I thought my luck in the universe had changed - but I died right afterward and got humbled
The Twin Princes is the perfect example of depression. Getting to the boss sucks, then fighting him sucks and then when you die they repeat that "your grave is here" bullshit😂😂 I found pontiff and the dancing lady way easier😂
Βasically, the comments in all of those difficulty videos: "I've never played a DS game and i beat all the bosses first try no damage taken i'm sooo skilled please acknowledge me"
Κωνσταντίνος Φραγκισκάτος most of them are lying but i actually beat the dancer first try idfk how but it worked now i beat her in like 40 tries on a sl1 playthrough
I never played DS before but some bosses, that are supposed to be hard, were very ez: Abyss Watchers 2nd try; Aldrich 1st try; Soul of Cinder 2nd try(if i had one more estus it would have been 1st try); I was actually sad that i defeated Soul of cinder so ez, cuz the game was over, and Nameless King before that was such a challenge, that defeating Soul of Cinder didn't give me satisfaction... Edit: Butcher's Knife and Yhorm's Machete FTW
Tough fight, but I beat him (barely) at my first go. I'm pretty good at Bloodborne & it felt like a boss from that game. Kind of a noob in Dark Souls though & I died 15-20 times on the Nameless King. The camera got me, the fire breath sometimes would just kill me. And his second phase is really fast, you barely ever have any time to heal.
I'm stuck on Pontiff right now but I honestly had more trouble with Crystal Sage than the Abyss Watchers. It took me a few tries but Abyss Watchers second phase was fairly similar to Lady Marias so that helped me.
what the hell lmao, i spent like 45 seconds on vordt in my first try and took no damage but i probably spent like 3 hours on abyss watchers and 2 on the dancer
it took me 5 hours to beat dancer today but thats only because i was greedy and wanted to do the boss very early into the game i immediately went for dancer after i beat vordt oh boy I regret that decision, now i am confused on how to get the dancer sword i talked to ludith and the soul transposition is not showing for me
Well, this is a community ranking voted by +10.000 people. It's just a survey showing which boss people found harder on average ratings. DeMod expressed how the Twin Princes and Aldrich were the hardest for him, so he clearly understands that difficulty is subjective. A lot of people in the comments section don't, though. My hardest main game boss is Crystal Sage so I think I understand it better than most lol, I watch people wreck him like the easiest thing ever and don't even understand how I get killed, but I still do.
AraragiTheRaper Hey, what made crystal sage so hard for you? Just wondering :P I've gotta agree with DeMod here, Lothric and Lorian wrecked me about 9-10 times. :P
DarthStalkers Well, in my first playthrough I just went full Skyrim against him in second phase, meaning I just attacked him without caring about his clones, and they always stunlock me with their spells and kill me. I got killed 7 times like that. In NG+ cycles the spells just deal too much damage and whatever they throw at me is almost a one shot, so I still consider him dangerous even if I already got gud at fighting him.. I killed him first try in my last playthrough, though, so now I should say Nameless is my hardest main game boss since he is the only one that kills me outside the DLC.
boe diggy As I just said, I first tried him in my last playthrough, after getting killed 7 times the first time around I already know what to do, but when he attacks from everywhere it becomes hard to avoid every single hit and some are deadly. There is no such thing as "objectevely easy" here (unless we are talking about the numbers shown in the video), not for bosses that actually deal damage and have more health than Pinwheel.
AraragiTheRaper fair enough. Early in the fight I got hit by one of his homing attack and knew he'd hit hard. So when I saw his clones I knew they were priority. I had the hardest time dodging Lorian throughout his fight and he hurts if he gets ya haha. As for Nameless he's not too bad for me, but the King of Storm phase is still a struggle. I just started a pyromancer and everything was rather easy but the Abyss Watchers definitely didn't like me haha
@@sir.saturated3301 I Cant Tell If You Are Being Sarcastic And Understand Its A Joke Or You Are Actually Serious, Its Hard To Detect Sarcasm Through Text
what's awesome about the "Soul of Cinder" is that since it's an amalgamation of everyone who has linked the first flame, if you chose that ending in DS1 in a way you're also fighting that character
@Luis Martinex "amalgamation of everyone who has Linked the first flame" thats why has gwyns moveset in 2nd phase, and yes, also every Player Character who has linked the flame
I really loved the Yhorm fight, mostly because I encountered him, grabbed storm ruler, didn't know what to do, and died. Then I went though the entire Siegward quest to have him fight, only to die after, in what felt like smacking a kaiju with nukes until he fell. It was better in NG+ when he has more health, but I really enjoyed that fight.
DeModcracy: Dies to abyss watchers 5 times and the community ranked them 8th hardest Me: Sitting at 34 deaths and 2 days of despair so far while the realization of what is still to come creeps into my brain
It took me three days all you have to do is be defensive in the first fase and in the second every time he attacks role into him and stab him he has low poise so you can stun him and keep hitting but make sure to leave enough to roll away
whut..... you can 1 shot the wyvern?!? I sat there and killed it by baiting out its fire attack thinking, "ok this is an endurance fight because this bitch is tanky"
+Local Lion I basically spent fifteen minutes trying to kill it then saw I could run past it, since I figured it would take too long trying to kill it in melee and there might be a special mechanic (seriously, he has too much health). If a boss can take your attacks for 10-15 minutes and still be above half-health, you probably are meant to have a special mechanic to weaken them or something, if it's a Souls Game. Sorta like how if you attack Wolnir but don't hit his bracelets his health-pool seems freaking unlimited, that caused me to die a few times to him before I realized they were weak-points.
+Local Lion I just gave up after 10 minutes and hoped I could run away from him into the next area. Only l thing that made me jump was a message suggesting I try it from the ledge :D
i unfortunately did not get to play the orignal Dark Souls, currently trying to find someone with a ps3 so i can play it. I started with Scholar of the First Sin. I also need one for Demon's Souls
My god this is what pisses me off about the dark souls fanbase, the hardest bosses aren't necessarily the best Deacons of the deep was fantastic thematically and atmospherically but people hate it because its not "hard" People miss the whole point of these games
+TheSnoozeFox I love atmosperically bosses like abyss watchers, i don't hate the deacons either, but i also don't really like them. The problem was, that a boss really should feel like one in my opinion. If the main body would be a little bit more tanky and he would dodge the attacks a bit, or if the enemys had a real formation, like if the fattys line up between you and him, while the tall one try to encircle you, while the main body slowly retreats with 2 healers on the side, it would really feel like you try to beat a cult trying everything to protect the boss. But like this it is just a bunch of fireball throwing guys ... kinde like the white maids in front of yhorm. And while i am already at it: I think the idea behind the ancient wyvern is great, but i think they shouldn't have made him a boss, if he were just in the area, it would have made him much better to me. And he also lacks a bit of chasing. If the way to him was designed, so you can't just run up in one go, but having to hide behind pillars every few seconds, because he breezes fire, that actually covers your way and makes you feel like you hide from a great danger, that would actually make him quiet neet. Another argument against your point: I think the dancer was quiet easy, didn't really have problems with her, but i still like her design and strangely i really struggled against oceiros but didn't like him.
+TheSnoozeFox I liked them a bit, but ill admit i cant totally like a boss if theyre that easy. They were pretty cool and some of my shamefully admitting deaths to them were hilarious (when you think about it, its kindav mass church gang rape)
+TheSnoozeFox It might have had theme and atmosphere, but it COMPLETELY lacks challenge. It doesn't even feel like a boss fight, I have far more trouble with many of the game's trash mobs than with the deacons, something I can't say about ANY other boss in DS3. I wasn't even aware that the Deacons had a curse mechanic until watching this. Every time I've fought them they've dropped too fast to apply any. I agree that bosses don't need to be the hardest to be great - Oceiros is one of the favourites for me and my friends because the atmosphere in the fight is awesome, even though it wasn't too challenging. But the difference there is that there IS still a challenge to it. There's absolutely none to the Deacons.
Dancer was an absolute bitch for me. Took me at least 20 attempts to beat her and Nameless King took me 4 hours. Nameless King was the bane of my existence, it got to the point where I rarely took a hit from the Dragon phase because I knew it so well but then fighting NK himself always got me haha. I managed to beat him though and I honestly went mental, not going to lie.
i diesd to nameless king like 20 times till i find out that i have to use light sword and keep my distance of him.most of his moves are brutal when u are near him.i didnt have problem with dragon phase.hardes boss for me is Soul of Cinder
I cant agree with you for nameless king. Well timed rolls near him puts you out of danger and he is too slow to deplete your stamina unless you too greedy or using heavy weapon . For heavy wep this tactic will work too ,however will take more time and patience and may be nessesary to skip hitting him sometimes when he opens up for attacks in order to recover stamina. Ofc u must know well his attack patterns but if u dont close or far to him wont make big difference imo. Just try , youll be amazed how easy Nameless king can be 😉
get a Dragonslayer Greatshield(or Havel Greatshield if you dont have Dragonslayer shield) and play defensively..honestly for me the worst part was battling the camera than it was to battle the NK and the dragon
Beat the game a few weeks back, going through NG+ and aiming for Platinum so here's my boss rankings minus the DLC because I don't own either. Deacons of The Deep Yhorm the Giant Ancient Wyvern Crystal Sage Iudex Gundyr Curse-Rotted Greatwood High Lord Wolnir Vordt of the Boreal Valley Old Demon King Oceiros, the Consumed King Aldrich, Devourer of Gods Champion Gundyr Abyss Watchers Lothric & Lorian Dancer of the Boreal Valley Nameless King Soul of Cinder Pontiff Sulyvahn
Tip: If you're intimidated by a boss and it makes you a bit panicky, try disabling the game music or even playing your own music over it. I did this in bloodborne and It's way easier to keep your cool when a full choir and orchestra aren't screaming at you... edit: I actually love the soundtrack but it's just really intense

This is the pussiest thing one can ever do for such an amazing piece of art. (The music, the ambiance, everything, that fear sensation, is part of the game experience)
As someone who has only started playing these games a few weeks ago I am amazed at how the perception of a boss can change. DS3 is my first from soft game and I remember how hard it was for me in the beginning. At least 15 tries for Gundyr, about 30 for Vordt, 25 for the tree and 40 for the watchers... It was a tough time. Yesterday, not being able to defeat soul of cinder and trying to blow off some steam, I started a second run. I beat both Gundyr and that ice lizard first try, vordt second and the tree first as well. While the walls of lothric broke me on my first playthrough I had them fully explored and looted within minutes on my second one. This progression really shows how good fromsoft is at teaching new players. The beginning will be a wild ride and you will die and die and die and there is no alternative but pressing on and trying again. But if you do the game rewards you by giving you the necessary skills and knowledge of the game you need. You won't even realise how much you as a player have changed in those few hours until you go back to the start and try again. I just hope I will continue learning during my second run, right now it is pretty much impossible for me to beat the final boss and I hope by the end of my second run I will finally be good enough to beat him.
Yep it's pretty crazy. My first one was bloodborne and I still managed to beat every boss in no more than 3 attempts. Having said that I'm a very savy and well soiled gamer. Now at age 38.
@@WheresWaldo05 Yea I'm 20 years younger and have only been playing games for like 6 years now so I'm still in the learning process when it comes to difficulty
Mate I have 1 piece of advice for anyone new to Soulsborne games - play Bloodborne first and you will fear nothing Dark Souls 3 has to throw at you. Trust me.
Oddly enough, I beat Champion Gundyr on my first try in my first playthrough. I actually died more to Crystal Sage than him (mostly from recklessness). And aside from the Dancer's spin-to-win, I actually have an easier time with her second phase than the first. Pontiff, however, definitely needs to calm his shit down. Such long combos.
I do it when feeling lazy. Now that i did a no summons or sheild playthrough, i just summon for pontiff, dancer and sage since i dont want to deal with any of their shit. I would rather move on that repeat a boss i know i can beat.
Why do people hate the Greatwood? Why do people think Vordt, Iudex and Wolnir are so hard? Why do people prefer more standard bosses to the more creative and interesting fights that Fromsoft insists on engineering? Why do people fight each other about who's better at Dark Souls games? Why did you read all these questions?
+Thirty2 1: He has weird mechanics, looks gross, and (if you can avoid that stupid barrel roll) is overall silly easy 2: Wolnir is a tedious pain with that instant kill poison... the other two I couldn't tell you why (aside from Iudex's dark mass transformation). 3: Depends on what you mean by "standard". The elegant simplicity of some "standard" fights (Soul of cinder, Pontiff Sulyvahn, Champion Gundyr all have gimmicks, but are otherwise straight fights, as opposed to something like Ancient Wyvern) make them an excellent test of skill, while simultaneously encouraging players to try to creatively approach dealing with their fighting style. Instead of "hit boss in fungus sack to win". 4: Insecurity, the same thing that drives some players to Dark Souls. They have to be "the best" at something, or they feel their life is worthless. 5: Because they seemed rather interesting, offering some decent food for thought. Those are my opinions on your questions. Others will absolutely disagree.
man the way you fight without being locked on gives me anxiety, also, too bad darkeater midir isnt on this list as he probably would be at the nr1 spot (NK took me 3 or 4 tries and I can't even count my attemps trying to beat Midir)
It’s interesting to see how difference in play style affects boss difficulty. As a pyromancer, taking on Old Demon King was basically impossible, but I beat Aldrich first try thanks to some heavy hitting pyros and a flame arc on my katana. When I fought Pontiff, I learned how to parry fast and take him down to phase 2 quickly, but that clone was too much for me.
As a strength/dex build, Old Demon King was a first attempt victory for me, but I struggle with Pontiff Sulyvahn almost as much as I struggle with Nameless King. I’ve been replaying it recently and I left off tonight on attempt #6 with Sulyvahn even with the help of both available NPCs. My first play-through I counted my deaths against Sulyvahn, and it took me an embarrassing 33 attempts to finally kill him. To be fair though, when I first played the game it took me a while to get used to the faster boss fights, because I’d just come off from playing the first Dark Souls which is much slower paced and much easier. But still, Pontiff Sulyvahn has gotta be up there with the top 3 Souls game bosses I absolutely hate with every fiber of my being.
for me, I havent gotten a huge challenge YET, Im hoping nameless king or twin princes try to roadblock me, but still, Vordt hammer strength build is OP
pro tip: In the Nameless King boss fight, the dragon will only spray the ground in fire if you're underneath him. Stay far enough away that you can see the entire dragon and only go in to attack once the King lunges in, and then only go after the head to do max damage.
Same but with all 35 journey's,that's my main character my recent has 16 journey's some bosses killed me twice others 3,i only killed a few 1st try ands that's 2 years of coming back
The first time I fought Yhorm, it took me one try, and one hour, I fucking broke the greatsword it gave trying to hurt him, and broke another weapon, it was hell.
To be honest I didn't know I'm supposed to kill him with the storm ruler good thing I had siegward with me I kept dodging and letting siegward attack him lmao
If that is the case then WHY HAVEN'T I BEAT THE 5TH DAM PANTHEON IN HOLLOW KNIGHT? oh wait I know why....fight EVERY DAMN BOSS FIRST TRY OR START ALL OVER...and some of those bosses are harder then dark souls no joke! Ack I'm probably gonna do my 156th try on it sometime tommorow
How about Dota 2? unlike League of Legends or any competitive FPS, pro players need at least 1500+ hours to start winning the lowest brackets, at the "international" all players of the 16 teams had like 10 years of experience and 8000 ranking.
+Travbot Tyler It happens because you are "Full-On Dark Souls Mode" when you face the hard bosses. but, when you face the easier bosses you underestimate them which in this game gets you killed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)... I hate when that happens :P
Died to the rotten tree the most, then Wolnir and finally Aldrich. But destroyed the rest around my 1st or 3rd time. Kind of dissapointing, wish it was the other way around :(
Damn, it really is interesting seeing other’s opinions on bosses. For me, the Princes were pretty easy, and I beat the SoC and Abyss Watchers in 3 tries (for context this is my first Souls game). However, not only did Dancer kick my ass for 2 hours, but DRAGONSLAYER ARMOR TOOK ME 30+ TRIES.
Dude. We are the same person. The princes attacks seemed pretty telegraphed and slow and SoC felt the same way, especially in his Gwyn phase. Dancer made me lose my mind and Dragonslayer Armor was so hard! Especially with his charged up swipe and the insta kill balls that the butterfly’s shoot at you
That’s so crazy because I loved the Dragonslayer Armor fight and it took me around 6-7 tries. Abyss watches and Dancer made me stop playing the game for 2 months in between lmao. I also loved the Twin Princes’ fight. Even though it took me ~10 tries, it all felt fair.
I don't understand how anyone can say abyss watchers was harder than dragonslayer. I beat abyss watcher like 3rd try but dragonslayer is straight impossible for me.
+Cohort it aint that bad cause it has this charge up nuke animation where it collects dark energy or something...thats the only time I died on that boss though..perhaps the curiousity of how large the damage will be from that orb

TheDorkKnight 25 its completely rng with dancer that why i hate the dancer fight. Sometimes she crushes me with stupid move combos and sometimes she gets killed without landing a single hit due to her not spamming gay combos.
I'm just starting DS3 after Elden Ring, and the worst part about Vordt is the trek to get to him. I expect many more bosses will be the same, glad FS decided to change this design, because the trek to Vordt is longer and laden with more enemies than any ER boss, even with the elevator "shortcut". I remember the poisonous trek to Quelaag in DS1, but I guess I've just gotten used to the QoL improvements in ER, really think bosses should be more difficult mechanically and not just a chore to get to.
I see a lot of people saying they beat bosses in 1 attempt, I mean I'd say I believe that 10% actually played solo, with how many people I've invaded I can pretty much guarantee, 9/10 of you had 2 sunbros and a a white
It didn't matter near which boss I put my summon sign, I was summoned in the next few seconds - the exception being the nameless king for which "you are being summoned" appears in the next hundredth of a second after putting your sign down.
I found abyss watchers quite easy especially the phase where there is the red eyes because you can stay back and the phase after attacks were not that hard to dodge
He killed me like 5 times on my first play through, but when I started the class that starts with the dagger (i forget its' name) I forced myself to learn his parry timings. I could probably parry him half asleep now.
He was my first ever boss in a souls game, and he trashed me more times than that on my first playthrough. On my second playthrough I killed him first try as a deprived, so I guess I got gud lol
My first Dark Souls playthrough it took me a solid 8 hours trying to get past the Gundyr I didn't understand how to play so I kinda gave up for a while. I came back and beat him on the first try like 3 months later and kinda just waltzed through the rest. I dont know what changed
I had the most trouble with the Dancer. In my first "playthough" I died over 50 times and then I lost interest in the game and quit. After half a year or so I started all over again and actually beat the game. Now I am a huge Soul fan, but every time I fight against the Dancer I get Vietnam flashbacks. The same goes for the fcking Ruin Sentinels in DS 2
suprisingly i had almost no problems with the dancer, died a few times but the real trouble began with the dragonslayer armor because holy shit that guy fucked me up. took me 5-6hours of grinding it to get him down even though i enjoyed the fight very much, and then we got to the twin princes and wow that was by far the most annoying fight in the souls series and took me another 6-7hours easily because of all the fucking teleporting and shitty camera movement.
The dancer is still one of my favorite fights in all of souls. Dancer and pontiff were the fights that made me "get good" at souls games. I spent so much time learning dancer, dying countless times. The feeling of overcoming her and finally mastering the fight...was legendary. Getting chills just thinking about how good it made me feel. I always look forward to fighting the dancer on repeated DS3 playthroughs
For me, it was, hands down, The Abyss Watchers and Pontiff Sulyvahn. No other boss killed me more than 5 times. I died to the Watchers a grand total of 51 times and roughly 20ish to Pontiff. Best game ever.
were you using melee, sorcery, pyromancy or what? i personally beat her first try using a hollowslayer greatsword+1 just by mashing r1 next to the one casting purple magic.
@@lucasbeck1391 I've beaten every boss i've attempted in under 10 tries, some even on first try. Hope it stays that way with nameless king. Looking forward to it! Seems like a pretty fun fight.
@GEN Craigz I didn't find 1st stage too difficult because I dont use locked camera, and manipulating AI was pretty easy. 2nd stage was annoying as fuck though since some oh his attacks are very delayed and hard to dodge. Took me about 15 tries to beat. Its my 2nd favorite boss from the series after Cinder.
Why would you say that?! I'm currently approaching the end of my first ever playthrough of ds3, which is my first ever souls-like game. Now I'm shitting myself in fear for when I encounter this boss.
I've beat the nameless king multiple times. I never lock onto bosses. Depending on lock on is for weaklings. Besides, you don't have as much free movement when locked on.
+John Rolkosky I had the same feeling about the Dancer boss VS Vicar Amelia in bloodborne... :D :D :D Then again the DS3 last boss 2nd phase has similar attacks as the DS2 last boss. :)
What about DS3 DLC, dude? They've already announced that it's coming, and the first pack arrives some time this year, so hey, that's some more to look forward to.
Definitely. From Software has a really good thing going with this type of game, so I can't see them slowing down any time soon. Believe it or not, I've never actually played a SoulsBourne game, but channels like yours and VaatiVidya's are seriously tempting me. It's just that I don't have the systems, but once I get a PS4 and a computer that can run Windows, you'd better believe I'm gonna dive right in.
I mean, no duh, right? There is the possibility, however, that I might start with Bloodborne, depending on when I get a PS4, as that's most likely one of the first games I'm gonna get, and when I get Windows, Killer Instinct is gonna eat my time.
Man. The Deacons of the Deep were incredibly easy, but the WTF reaction they got out of me when I first saw them (DS3 was the first DS I played) and how what-the-hell-is-going-on the fight was was so shocking to me that it's epic and makes up for it. The Ancient Dragon was great, too! Instead of a standard, generic video-games-in-general and Dark Souls in particular boss fight, you get one where THE ARENA IS A LEVEL, complete with treasures and enemies, where the hard way is fighting the boss straight-up, and the intended strat is racing to the end of the stage, past fast minions and killer ambushes and then figuring out how to deal damage- or finding time in the chaos to READ tips! How epic was that?! :D Sometimes 'epic' is better than good. I mean, it's not like The Nameless King wasn't hanging around the same area for anyone who wanted more challenge... And if you think Yhorm the Giant is too easy alone, try doing it with Siegward helping you... OMG. That fight was epic for me to see also, and so all 3 of the early bosses on this list make up for easy with OMG-EPIC
Here’s my trick to beat pontiff easier. I used to suck with this guy, but, what you do is learn the gestures for which sword he’s going to use and make yourself comfortable with whatever sword you want, pick one. Get used to dodging what sword you want, I like the big fire sword because you can bait a large easily dodged sweep attack that has no follow up and a long wait after, and it’s really easy, stand just barely on his left (your right) and he’ll sail to the left and do this attack. Abuse your power attacks and weapon arts, because pontiff isn’t too hard to stun. Stay close, his range is ludicrous and he’ll almost always catch you if you run away, so if you just stay close you actually more likely to not get caught in a combo. In his last phase, you can bait out the ground slam (not big fire explosion just the jump in the air and dash slam WWE style move) by running away from him, then back towards him for just a second, and away again. Roll, and then count “one” and roll again. Always dodges the move. You can get 1 good power attack, and 2 if you stun him.
@@tinedpluto4384 ODK was a bit hard when I didn't know how to time the dodges and stamina management on him, but then became pretty fun and easy. Oceiros was pretty easy too imo, until I started a mage build. With a magical infused weapon the damage was really low, and I didn't focus on putting points into HP either so I mostly got 2-shot.
Don't know why people find nameless king the hardest, I first tried him on my blind playthrough and still first tried him on Ng+, I'm not trying to brag but he's easy if you don't spam dodge like a bitch on heat.
@@DeliciousHam69 The second phase is easy indeed. But can you serisously say you didn't die by the freaking Dragons Breath from above? I mean if you stand right beneath his ancient lizard thing, you can't dodge it's attack when he's about to initialize it. Even in Havel's anti-heat armor I was dead after merely two proccs.
Imagine how strong Gwynn would have been in his prime. If the theory is correct that the Nameless King is his lost son, erased from history, then it holds true that Gwynn in his prime would have been similar to the Nameless King but much much stronger. He was at his lowest strength when we fought him in Dark Souls 1.
No doubt, was playing on my 4th play through after not touching the game for a long long time and the crystal sage basically one shot me.. I was in shock
The reasons the nameless king is the hardest boss in the game, is because you have to fight him, his dragon and the camera
+Kenshin_44
The camera during the dragon portion is definitely the hardest part of the fight.

Only proves that the hardest boss of the Dark Souls franchise is the camera.
+Ingram 2 if you keep locked on the king (rather then the dragon, its no problem. and if its too much of an issue, you dont use the camera at all.
Merlith Gero Yeah, that's the problem. You CANT stay locked on to him. It will unlock almost every time automatically.
On my first play through but I agree with Aldrich and Dancer because I managed to get past them both with 5 attempts combined, Might’ve gotten lucky with Aldrich idk
i think it depends on build and weapon choice. aldrich was the first boss who really kicked my a**. i went through all my embers and had to buy out the shop before i finally beat him. slow great sword and not a ton of stamina didn't pair well with him teleporting and having to run from the arrow rain. i died to him more than nameless king.

you cant really rate dark souls bosses on difficulty. It all depends on an individuals play style, a boss hard for me will be easy for someone else.
Just wondering :P
I've gotta agree with DeMod here, Lothric and Lorian wrecked me about 9-10 times.

While not intended, fighting Yhorm without the Storm Ruler is by far one of the most fun I had with this game.
My god this is what pisses me off about the dark souls fanbase, the hardest bosses aren't necessarily the best
Deacons of the deep was fantastic thematically and atmospherically but people hate it because its not "hard"
People miss the whole point of these games
What is that point exactly?
Deacons were everything the prowling magus fight should've been.
Bought this game recently and have finally got to the final boss. The bosses are incredible.
pontiff giving off those logarius vibes though.
ikr
Dancer was an absolute bitch for me. Took me at least 20 attempts to beat her and Nameless King took me 4 hours. Nameless King was the bane of my existence, it got to the point where I rarely took a hit from the Dragon phase because I knew it so well but then fighting NK himself always got me haha. I managed to beat him though and I honestly went mental, not going to lie.
YORDANKA DELOVA Yeah exactly the same with me on both fights man! Haha!
i diesd to nameless king like 20 times till i find out that i have to use light sword and keep my distance of him.most of his moves are brutal when u are near him.i didnt have problem with dragon phase.hardes boss for me is Soul of Cinder
Just try , youll be amazed how easy Nameless king can be 😉
Me to. Then I beat him with a bow walking away from him. Finding the easy cheese after so many tries was wonderful.
get a Dragonslayer Greatshield(or Havel Greatshield if you dont have Dragonslayer shield) and play defensively..honestly for me the worst part was battling the camera than it was to battle the NK and the dragon
Beat the game a few weeks back, going through NG+ and aiming for Platinum so here's my boss rankings minus the DLC because I don't own either.
Deacons of The Deep
Yhorm the Giant
Ancient Wyvern
Crystal Sage
Iudex Gundyr
Curse-Rotted Greatwood
High Lord Wolnir
Vordt of the Boreal Valley
Old Demon King
Oceiros, the Consumed King
Aldrich, Devourer of Gods
Champion Gundyr
Abyss Watchers
Lothric & Lorian
Dancer of the Boreal Valley
Nameless King
Soul of Cinder
Pontiff Sulyvahn
Tip: If you're intimidated by a boss and it makes you a bit panicky, try disabling the game music or even playing your own music over it. I did this in bloodborne and It's way easier to keep your cool when a full choir and orchestra aren't screaming at you...
edit: I actually love the soundtrack but it's just really intense
of course! love you too
Dovahcat i used to play happy upbeat piano songs on my ipod when i tried to get through fatal frame, but it didnt work i was scared shitless anyway XD
Play royalty free ukulele, beat nameless king in 2 hits
This is the pussiest thing one can ever do for such an amazing piece of art. (The music, the ambiance, everything, that fear sensation, is part of the game experience)

god damn... it's so fucking satisfying to watch this video after beating the game and killing all bosses
Tyler Goudreau ikr!
Tyler Goudreau try doing it 11 times
Must be nice....
Plot twist: Nameless king is the Dragonborn with a modded Paarthunax.
Trust me.
When i was looking for the second boss i came across an old lady and killed her for shits and giggles... then came the dancer
rip
Then you got fucked xD
melvin dallory talk about karma XD
Same
Lol miyazaki won’t even get him
Oddly enough, I beat Champion Gundyr on my first try in my first playthrough. I actually died more to Crystal Sage than him (mostly from recklessness). And aside from the Dancer's spin-to-win, I actually have an easier time with her second phase than the first.
Pontiff, however, definitely needs to calm his shit down. Such long combos.
I did Pontiff without Damage (tho with an NPC summon)
He's... Okay because theres a nice spot where he gets stuck
Me 2 i never died to him
Isn't champ gundyr the king of long combos?
yeah I havnt died at all to champion Gundyr on both my playthrough but pontiff I just have to summon at least one person or I'll be there for a while
I do it when feeling lazy.
+Thirty2
1: He has weird mechanics, looks gross, and (if you can avoid that stupid barrel roll) is overall silly easy
2: Wolnir is a tedious pain with that instant kill poison... the other two I couldn't tell you why (aside from Iudex's dark mass transformation).
+Dialask Isel If you run to the back of the slope when fighting Wolnir he will just crawl towards you forever. he is a poorly coded boss IMO
+Thirty2 WHY NOT?
+Thirty2 Time is convoluted! that's why!
+lewis monaghan He is punishing you for hiding like a coward :^)
man the way you fight without being locked on gives me anxiety, also, too bad darkeater midir isnt on this list as he probably would be at the nr1 spot (NK took me 3 or 4 tries and I can't even count my attemps trying to beat Midir)
Midir was my second try. Nameless king took me ten or more tries the first time
i had to summon two bros while fighting midir and it still took me 10+ attempts 😂
Old Demon King is really easy with boulder heave 😸
Well, the old demon king is impossible until you get some dark pyromancies
The animation work on dancer is just absolutely stunning!
underrated comment
And that absolute dumptruck of an ass she carries.
2:38 ... that face after killing the dragon is gonna haunt me for a LOONG time
Is it still haunting you?
All I hear is some Hindu music. "Dingi Dingi Dingi Dingi"
Its a wyvern, mah onion bruh -.-
If people are able to beat Pontiff without parrying, that’s extremely impressive. Learned to parry just for that boss.
pro tip: In the Nameless King boss fight, the dragon will only spray the ground in fire if you're underneath him. Stay far enough away that you can see the entire dragon and only go in to attack once the King lunges in, and then only go after the head to do max damage.
Pro-er tip: git gud
Salem Andrada Also true lol
Wywern* not a dragon XD
David Čejdík no one cares.

I fought him the first time and was like: How the fuck am I supposed to kill something that takes like five damage per hit.
Jacco Loos lol me too I was like yeah I need like 50 estus lol
The first time I fought Yhorm, it took me one try, and one hour, I fucking broke the greatsword it gave trying to hurt him, and broke another weapon, it was hell.
richard weinmann I fought him with onion bro!
To be honest I didn't know I'm supposed to kill him with the storm ruler good thing I had siegward with me I kept dodging and letting siegward attack him lmao
Champion Gundyr's Sweet Chin Music was something new and surprised me initially. One of my Favorite Boss.
If you can master Dark Souls, you can master anything in life.
Wrong
Try getting a gf nerd
Lmao, try Touhou at Lunatic level
Pontiff gave me hell, first time I went in to the boss room he destroyed me in a single combo, 9 attempts later, I pummeled his ass into the ground.
Nukes solve everything same here. The hardest part I feel was he gave you very few chances to heal.
Caleb Taylor Agreed, if you wanted to heal you had to give up a chance to do damage
if you can manage to run away from him and stay away at the max lock on distance then you can heal without counterattack
at my first character i had to stop playing at pontiff. he is written literally by a maniac. in my second playthrough not so hard tho.
lol did better than me, i bitched out and summoned allies.
Its weird that I struggle on the easy bosses but destroy the hard ones!
Same!
+Travbot Tyler I killed sulyvan at my first try but died 7 times to the sage D: xD
I probably died like 20 times on wolnir
Deacons of the Deep was a fun boss.
+Cohort define fun
+Hugh Jass its fun to nuke bosses
+Cohort its fun when you got the butchers knife that heals u when u do the special, never dropped below 90% hp lol
+Cohort it aint that bad cause it has this charge up nuke animation where it collects dark energy or something...thats the only time I died on that boss though..perhaps the curiousity of how large the damage will be from that orb
+Cohort it aint that bad cause it has this charge up nuke animation where it collects dark energy or something...thats the only time I died on that boss though..perhaps the curiousity of how large the damage will be from that orb
On my first play through, as well as my first dark souls game, it took me no joke 76 times to beat the dancer
Hmmm I killed her first try
RNG probably
Me too. It took me about that many my first play through.
@@acphantom6437 ye but I forgot to mention I died to the deacons about 20 times
i think it took me even longer i tought i was supposed to fight him right after vordt
This is a factual statement. I agree entirely with what you’ve said here
6:07 I see what you did there xD
if there is ONE BOSS we all are thinking the same as it is said in the video... it is the nameless king... 3hart5we
I'm colorblind, so the Chrystal sage was a pain in the ass for me. Lol
damn that sucks i was telling mt friend that too, i said what if somone was colorblind when they fought the crystal sage haha that mustve sucked
LMAO damn you the real mvp
+Ninjapanda squad im also colorblind, but i noticed that he only really has 4 proper spawn points, where he will go, the rest are decoys
+Josiah Duff (GT500 Mustangs) being color blind makes no difference if you are colorblind the main sages magic would still be a diff color try again
Just This Once And the fact that you CLAIM THAT IM WRONG WHEN IM THE ONE LIVING WITH IT IS BULLSHIT!
My biggest flex is that I beat champion gundyr without getting hit, I got so mad at dying so much I just decided to never get hit again
Don't be sad the series ended. Be happy that it happened
+TheXxRaven 115 Right on, Raven

Never too late, I think even Demon's Souls holds up incredibly well today. Hope you're enjoying the series!
+theDeModcracy I am indeed
I wonder where FromSoft is going to go next?
I see a lot of people saying they beat bosses in 1 attempt, I mean I'd say I believe that 10% actually played solo, with how many people I've invaded I can pretty much guarantee, 9/10 of you had 2 sunbros and a a white
+David Videla Same here. I'm playing offline and the bosses are no joke, but very doable with a lot of practice and patience
+JustTooBrutal You don't know challenge until you're playing solo at 17 fps the whole game.
+JustTooBrutal I beat most of the lategame bosses in about 3-4 times, tbh I had more trouble with the early game bosses lmao
It didn't matter near which boss I put my summon sign, I was summoned in the next few seconds - the exception being the nameless king for which "you are being summoned" appears in the next hundredth of a second after putting your sign down.
+Aikanaro Azurahson There's something about summons with that boss, right? I think they are disabled by an NPC or something like that? I can't recall
I found abyss watchers quite easy especially the phase where there is the red eyes because you can stay back and the phase after attacks were not that hard to dodge
When I first started Gundyr TRASHED me like 18 times.
He killed me like 5 times on my first play through, but when I started the class that starts with the dagger (i forget its' name) I forced myself to learn his parry timings. I could probably parry him half asleep now.
use deprived and 3 tries
He was my first ever boss in a souls game, and he trashed me more times than that on my first playthrough. On my second playthrough I killed him first try as a deprived, so I guess I got gud lol
My first Dark Souls playthrough it took me a solid 8 hours trying to get past the Gundyr I didn't understand how to play so I kinda gave up for a while. I came back and beat him on the first try like 3 months later and kinda just waltzed through the rest. I dont know what changed
This was my first i beat gundyr on the 4th he was a bot for me😂
I had the most trouble with the Dancer.
Maybe because you fought him too early in the game tho, it was easy for me but maybe because I fought him being at around level 50 with a +8 weapon
@@tastylambchops8097 just continue to progress into the game until you're at a higher level
In my first playthrough I beat dancer first try :/ (that was today btw)
Lol same story with me. I thought dancer was the second boss. L for me. I tried for a month then quit and bought bloodborne. Best decision ever

I died to the Watchers a grand total of 51 times and roughly 20ish to Pontiff.
Best game ever.

I died like 15 times to the crystal sage until I used throwing knives on the clones
I had no trouble with the sages. what build were you using?
Mr. Bonzo her first phase was easy for me , her second phase was hell!
Jeremy Manning

were you using melee, sorcery, pyromancy or what? i personally beat her first try using a hollowslayer greatsword+1 just by mashing r1 next to the one casting purple magic.
It took me slightly more than 2 hours of attempts to beat the nameless king, and ds3 is my fourth souls game😳

@GEN Craigz I'm exited for Gael. Looks awesome. And seems pretty fricking hard.

What about DS3 DLC, dude? They've already announced that it's coming, and the first pack arrives some time this year, so hey, that's some more to look forward to.
Of course! I'm sure there will be more Soulslike games too
You gotta do it man. Take the plunge!
+Phalanx S start with ds 1
BologneyT you seem like a really nice person
Noro Get some friends.
Maybe I'm stupid but I don't think he was being sarcastic.
When he puts oceiros before Old Demon King.
*Confused Screaming*
Why? Old Demon King its harder
They are both ez
@@tinedpluto4384 ODK was a bit hard when I didn't know how to time the dodges and stamina management on him, but then became pretty fun and easy. Pontiff is really easy if you stand straight behing his back. From this point he is just flourishing like a panicking beetle on it's back.
Same same
@@dramalexi how much vigor did you even have, i was wearing lothric knight armor and first phase was even easier than the second
That feeling when The boss helps you to kick his own ass.
To bad i had to see that 47 times
Imagine how strong Gwynn would have been in his prime. If the theory is correct that the Nameless King is his lost son, erased from history, then it holds true that Gwynn in his prime would have been similar to the Nameless King but much much stronger. He was at his lowest strength when we fought him in Dark Souls 1.
they have buffed crystal sage damage.. Now she can combo you with a sword an literally one shot you.. And im not talking about her magic
Ye I thought that when the walkthroughs looked easier than the thing, but the it was still fairly easy
No doubt, was playing on my 4th play through after not touching the game for a long long time and the crystal sage basically one shot me.. I was in shock
*he. It's a wizard boyy not some shy girl waifu
Oh thats why. I was like shit that sage bitch killed me like 20 times what u talking about "easy" lmao
