As you can see the format changed a bit as I am learning how to use a new editing software - so the next few vids might be a bit clunky - hopefully teething problems!
I am not particularly technically minded, so bear with me during that difficult time please...

not even gonna lie, it was very unexpected to hear you narrate the video! it was something i’ve never heard you do in the years of watching your channel, but it was absolutely lovely and i hope you continue to do it! you have a very calming voice!💖💖
I think the narration could be reserved for special videos, or a particular series. One of the things that drew me in immediately when I first found the channel was the soothing effect of music/reading/images 😅

Nice to hear you, Izabela. We all wholeheartedly forgive your wrong shift (as if most of us would have spotted or realized it). Clearly the late 18th century was much kinder to women where dressing was concerned - a shift, stays, one petticoat that’s not too dissimilar to slip from from my own childhood (save the fabric) and a gown. Looking ahead to what came in the next 100 years, that’s nothing!

REALLY like the new format with audio explanations! It allows the viewer to focus solely on the video and picking up details that were lost when you had to read too! 😊
It's lovely to have the audio accompanying the video! But if you're more comfortable with the written text (or if they're easier to produce) then I will also keep watching those! Basically: do whichever you're most comfortable with! And thank you so much for all of these videos, it's so lovely to get a glimpse underneath the clothes.

It usually takes me about double the length of a video to actually watch it because I have to pause to read all the time, then look at the garments themselves, and it’s not nearly as enjoyable as it would be otherwise

I really like the fact that you're now doing some narration. It adds a bit more "warmth" & interest to the presentation.
Not to mention the fact that, by the time I'd read the caption on your regular videos, I'd missed whatever you were doing. So I had to keep pausing at nearly every caption change, or I'd miss half the information (also the main reason I purely hate trying to watch a sub-titled movie!).
So thank you for the format change, and please, keep it up!

Hi there! I have a video suggestion/request. It would be awesome if you could do a dedicated video on corsets and stays, how they changed over time, which ones you find most comfortable, etcetera. Love the new format and we get to hear you as well! Fashion during the late 1800s seemed surprisingly simplistic, far cry from the tonnes of layers. And it’s pretty wearable, if I may say so.

This was my favorite video so far! I love the commentary and wished I lived near Bath to go to a proper ball. I love seeing the interaction with others dressed up and dancing too. What fun!

Oh, how interesting about the stays, that explains a lot about some second hand stays of mine that had been puzzling me! I bought a very beautiful pair at a vintage and theatrical shop a while ago-- the lace holes were wrong (set in horizontal pairs, not staggered) but otherwise the pattern looked like a quite faithful 18th century reproduction, and the boning was good quality steel spring. However, they were shorter on my waist than I expected, which confused me because I'm 5' tall. I thought perhaps they had been made for a child, but it seemed odd to make boned stays for a child in our era. This explains so much-- I got the period wrong, and they must be based off a late 1700s pattern! Thank you!
I really love these higher waisted styles the best, I think. I'd actually love to have one of those stays for use today lol. Perfect for flattening the stomach, nipping the waist in a little, and good posture!
Not to mention holding the sisters where they belong :D It actually looks very comfortable!

Love the voice over! Your videos are some of my favorite. Yours were the first ration history videos I watch and sparked my interest in historical dress. I’m visually impaired so usually I have to pause frequently zoom in the read the captions and play again. So anyway LOVE the voice over.
I enjoyed the narration. Of course, I like your videos anyway you do them. This looks so comfortable and lovely. I don't understand why they went back in a few years to have the hoop cages and the bussels in the back.

Please keep the subtitles. The subtitles auto generated made no sense, and I have hearing loss, so all the background noise, even with my hearing aid, made it impossible for me to understand.

I love your videos, but I did prefer the old style! My ADHD makes it difficult for me to concentrate on the details of something while also trying to process a verbal explanation, and I found it much easier to focus on the beautiful clothes and your explanations at the same time when they were written out.
Same! I have neurological conditions that make following the vocal narration too difficult most of the time. This has always been a safe channel for me when I'm struggling 🙃
Have you considered turning the volume down or off?

I loved the dual drawstring set up of this gown...what a clever way to adjust the bodice! I am assuming that this feature was common for day gowns as well? I can especially see where it would have been a fantastic way to accommodate a pregnancy. I know that the so-called 'empire-waist' gowns are not a particularly liked style for many, but these - as well as the stunningly beautiful gowns of the 1912-1914 years - are my absolute favorites!

I wasn't familiar with the style of this particular era but I have to say, I really like the dress and the silhouette. Having gained and lost a lot of weight in a short period of time, I wish modern clothes utilised more drawstrings. Would be handy!

My favorite era! And except for that incredibly well-fitted corset, a costume that a ten-thumbed seamstress (me) could actually make! Love the turban and the feathers.

I like being taken to the balls in your videos. I feel like I'm getting a peek into the past. The only way to experience them for one who lives across the pond. One day!!
