Had honor & pleasure to hang with this particular lineup of Mongo's band in L.A. around that time...Peraza and Mongo maintained their friendly competition & deep friendship throughout. Ray Maldonado taught me to play bongo cowbell around then. Prior to this lineup, Mongo had two saxes up-front, with Charles Owens and other serious sax holding the line!.
