I just got a wraith 1.9 today for 300$ at my local hobby shop, I have a heavy trx4 bronco with some brass a ton of aluminum so I wanted a nimble light crawler. I plan on doing some upgrades for sure with this rig.
Yes the crawler tires so far are working the best out of the BFG muds and baja and there not even the predator compound. BFG aren't broke in yet,but those tires are great.
Very cool. Beat ya to the Incision shocks on it though, handles great with them. But I did learn a thing or two about bleeding, thanks for that. Went with Pitbull Berserker tires on mine, little narrower and maybe more "scale", FWIW on this rig. SSD wheel weights too. Now to see what you did on the 2nd go around!
The stock tires are my only problem with this car. I bought some deep woods tires and some aluminum wheels with some wheel weights to help solve the grip issues and also hopefully the small center of gravity issue.
Nice video on how to fill these shocks. I did over fill them when I got them and blew shock oil out the bottom. I thought it was just bad seals. I will have to rebuild them again. It would be nice to see the open area in the back filled in with a fuel cell.
I watched this video and WOW! I went and ordered one from Horizon Hobby. I installed my brand new 2S Lipo 4 brand new double A's "Lets go play" Oh no!! After weeks of waiting my Spektrum SX2 and Spektrum srx 200 are not bound and will not BIND :( this sucks so BAD! I'm older Now and was a Tamiya man back in the golden age! This is a bad start I tell ya! Fingers Crossed that Axial/Horizon will support their product! The wait continues...Looking at it sitting there sucks! BTW I love your videos (Very educational) especially when ya been out of the Hobby for so long. I liked the look of the Wraith 1.9 as a starting point to build towards a VS 4 10 someday. Thanks God Bless :)
Didn’t like it when I saw it at Hobby Town. The wheels and tires definitely make it look more aggressive. Vanquish links, rock jocks and custom a custom body. Hell why not a 3000 kv motor why you’re at it 👍👍
I always wanted to stick some SSD diffs for an scx10 in mine & 1.9’s. Now Axial have ruined that for me 🤨 What a cool truck. Looking so far. Chop the back turn it into a Ute & get some inner fenders for the rear. 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
I will be fully surprised if the tires don't work out for you. I like how Hyrax performs, just don't like that they aren't a scale tire. The BFG's however, finally got a set of the Predator compound and believe I have found a tire that not only looks good, and scale, but believe that they perform just as well as the Hyrax (G8).
always enjoy your videos, not bad on your shock build and you did it almost perfect, I did a 3 part video on these shocks, I filmed my unbox of the 1.9 wraith yesterday and love this truck, I ordered the universals up front and incision rims with pitbull tires, I guess you have already swapped the rtr radio, sure would like to see you put the 2.2 wraith interior into the 1.9.
Just bought one yesterday. Back to the store I bought it tomorrow. Kept shutting down on me on the trail. Very embarrassing for a new out of box RTR $. But every liked it's bad ass looks.
Inner Wheelwells at LEAST. Too much Air back there! Would be interesting to see if the $16 RC4WD Wraith Wheelwells would fit. Being Lexan, there wouldn't be a big weight penalty either! 😉
Retail is $500 for complete front and rear axles, it would actually cost you more to fully upgrade the axles with similar quality axles in a stock style.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I know they are nice but that's just insanely priced for a little RC car axles, I work in the same building as Casey Currie and when I told them how much they sell for they all had a nice laugh. If I wanted to build my dream scale crawler and have any parts I wanted I could build a rig that costs like 5000$ that's freaking insane for an RC car lol.
Waiting for this video, Thanks! Got my wish list already! Maybe Incision Links! Also... New drinking game... " shock shaft". Used to be called "Servo".
Needs a little under or overdrive love too in one of the axles. I don’t like to run both but I prefer running under in the rear. Both to me gets pretty aggressive. Thanks for the video. Anyone parting these out yet? I want one with the axles removed hehe. I got some for it.
DEFINITELY nice first upgrades Josh. I'm really impressed with the Incision Shocks! I hope I can get some in the future. MEANWHILE, are the Black Diamond Shafts offered separately, and could I get them to work on Axial ICON Shocks?? Carmine 🚂🚙
Thanks for doing these upgrade videos. I just bought my AXIAL 1.9 WRAITH a month ago. The first thing I thought of that had to go were the shocks and tires. I’m looking forward to watching your other upgrade videos for my Wraith. I have the orange one. I’m thinking I might go get the black one as well. 👍
@@HarleyDesignsInc Yes I own a landscape company an I like to play with RC cars on the side. time is very limited with the hard labor plus emails later in the day running a business. Also You really know what you're doing if you come across spare time please let me know I will pay for your labor and time
Ive played with several weights and this is what I like best for my driving. Gives a good amount of dampening especially with a little bit of wheel speed.
Yes, proper DLC, but if you use that in a product description it’s like using the word Kleenex. But it’s done by the same plater that does high end MTB shocks.
Great job building the shocks Josh, it's also really great that you personally offer that service when people buy them. ;)
Thank you for the shock build tutorial, I overfilled my Insision shocks on my first go. Love your work. Looking forward to more fabrication:)

looking forward to seeing those shocks in action.
Very well explained shock filling example. Many don’t realize those nuances when assembling or replacing oil.

Wow absolutely blindsided by those wheels. Really like that 6 spoke design. Great taste.

I have ran the swampers in the same compound and I like them. They seem to grip on anything
Great start to the upgrades. How about a 3D printed rear wheel well or full engine bay/firewall tutorial?
Not a bad idea, I just got a new 3d printer as well which could work well to lead into it.
Those wheels and tires look killer on there
I'll admit, I've been overfilling my shocks. Thanks bud, I learned something new today.

Figured this stuff would be first upgrades.... Nice production work I dig the new intro and the transitions were nice too
Might have to try a set of those shock shafts on my incisions, cool look.
Funny, I did the exact same mods. Looking forward to what you do next. I did do the fast back mod.

Nice shock build part bud like what you changed so far now to see what your partner has in mind for changes 🏗🏗
Wow those shocks are hard to setup. I am building my VS4-10Pro. Getting the shocks to pull a little and travel all the way up the same is very hard.
Nice reliable trail buggy. needs some F9s and a few other VP goodies.

RC Mike Klein I have one of the old interiors of you want it

A rear sway bar on my wraith helped dramatically. I keep the front one disconnected seems a little tight.
Nice video. Can't wait to see what else you do with it!
Thanks for the nice upgrade look. It really makes me want one
Fill in rear area .. estate type (station wagon ) !! Inner fender !!
Inner Wheelwells at LEAST. Too much Air back there!

What about some Vanquish portals?? 😎🤘
Hahahahahahahahahahahaa 600$ for axles lmao
@@stpbasss3773 he works at Vanquish, he can get a set for free

I think to really set it off, look at using the VS4-10's axles and custom links, to really bring out the scale aspect of that truck
How did I never even think of using VS4 axles? Seems like such an obvious and awesome idea. Hmmmm
Josh some vanquish axles would be awesome maybe even the portals as well. Love the channel.

Would like to see 4ws and some custom bumpers and sliders. Nice video
Hey Josh will u guys be offering the delrin shock guides for sale ?
Trailing arm rear setup would be sweet

What about metal tie rod and pan hard bar, is incision going to have that
Hey Josh , do you know if Boom Racing discontinued thier boomerang internal piggyback shocks ?
Definitely aluminum link upgrade
looks great! like the new intro music!
Make some aluminum panels and fastback it. What about a Wroncho in 1.9?
Needed those tires.
fast back mod.
I would love to see a axle and hubs video
What do you think about having some capra axles on it.

I’ll be getting back to this truck before long. I always liked driving it.
Dumb question can you use the same part from the axial wraith to the 1.9 I just got the 1.9 and I feel I'm going to have some fun..
In most cases no, only a few parts cross over.
@@HarleyDesignsInc dang.. thank you
Link kit ? Are vp going to do a high clearance link kit ?
Needs a trunk or rear floor set up
Ripper style ali body panels?
did you notice in the spare parts bag there is the old style wraith bumper? how does this mount to the new 1.9 wraith?
It won’t mount to this chassis, it’s just from the same mold, so they included it.
Fast back mod, Currie axles
very very nice car❤❤
Did I imagine it or were those stock shocks empty of oil when you opened them?
I didn’t open the stock shocks.
@@HarleyDesignsInc now that you say it.... Dooh moment
Yeah I’m going to need one lol
Lookin good, how far are you taking this build?
I plan to go quite far.
I took my Honcho out on the creek yesterday. my tires got filled with water and tips on that or i just have to rebuild them every time ?
tony barajas put 2-3 1/8in vent holes in the tire’s tread
@@chevyon37s I did I used servo shims to keep the whole open. I might add more .
Did you need to vent those new tires?
yes, I vent all tires.
Harley Designs what method do you use?
Not digging the rims, no pun rig is cool and thx you for your video
Cool:)
hello what would you charge to build me a set of these shocks ill have them ship straight from vanquish to you then to me thanks
I really just don’t have time to do that, sorry. But I don’t want to agree to something and not be able to get it done in a reasonable time.
