Hey I also want to join the sea bees as a construction mechanic. I'm in my last year of highschool and plan on joining after. What should I study to score high enough to qualify.
@@luckclan2262 I think there might be some kind of course or books you can find to help you with the ASVAB, but, as far as being a CM you go to "A" school right after boot camp. Take a mechanic course to help you understand the material you will go over in the class.
Im actually gonna be leaving for bootcamp for the navy in June. And after that I get to go to A’s school to be a CM. I’m really excited but nervous at the same time.
My Father was in the Fighting 58th in the South Pacific Island hopping and have a few things from his time there , I have a picture-of his battalion on Guadalcanal he didn't speak much about the actions I remember him going to the V.A hospital in Philadelphia many times to have shrapnel removed from his body pretty-much till the day he died.He also had many nightmares and always slept with his eyes open. . As the song goes" You don't what you have much till you know that its gone" . Yep they were the Greatest Generation.
I was stationed with NMCB 6 then NMCB 40 DAVISVILLE RI BU2 1969 -1973 also one of many who first landed on DEAGO GARCIA Indian Ocean by LST 1971 BEST VACATION spot in the WORLD ha ha!
My Uncle "bud" Cmdr. M.L. Sowle was in the SeaBees from WWII at age of 18 until he retired as the last commanding officer of CB base Davisville R.I. before they closed it down . He was in WWII , Korea, & built fuel depots & air strips in V.N. Also was deployed to build bases & weather stations etc, in the Caribbean, as well as in charge of units all over the U'S.
My uncle was in the 58th Battalion, Company B, 2nd Platoon. I just can across his scrapbook and there is letter to my Mother in there describing the night time bombings by the Japanese and just how bad they were. I remember him as a kid and he never said a word about it.
I was in MCB 5 from 73- 77 & there were no women on any deployment I was on, never so why do they insist there were? I salute my sister Seabees that came after me We Build We Fight!
Cross over to the Seabees lots of marines do, talk to a recruiter I’m sure you would like the training and you would have a good career I know I’m a retired Seabee I loved every minute of my 20 year hitch Can Do!

As a CM do you also work in the field with the other seabees building and helping or are you mostly in a shop/garage?
