These are good techniques during business meetings in order to see if someone is lying to you. When it comes to personal relationships, it is quite easy to spot someone's lies if you are perceptive enough. Read the signals on which you have a suspicion; keep in mind his/her past and current conversations and detect any ambiguity, inconsistency & contradiction between those conversations within the “story line”. Confront the person about the relevant subject, patiently listen to the person and observe his/her reactions. There you have it! :) A liar cannot outsmart a perceptive, observant, honest person.

Body Language is a good tools to know, HOWEVER, be careful by judging other people just based on this! There are much more to understand a person as well as it is all depending on a culture where they raised... Since we are living in a deserve society.... body language is usually very much misinterpreted in these days...
Someone telling truth will pause and look up and right.. Lier down and left as they reply to your questions.. Pausing before answering is a sign of truth..they haven't rehearsed the answer...
These are all situational and cannot be guarantees in all situations. Some people are simply nervous when dealing with other people and will do half these things because of the stress of human contact. Learn to recognize the TYPES of people you will be dealing with and these tips will be that much more useful.
Absolutely correct. When someone changes their behavior, you have to analyze why it changed. Did the temperature change? Did someone else walk by? Did a lingering thought enter the subject's mind that has them worried, totally unrelated to what you are talking about? Or simply are they feeling stress and anxiety. These changes are observed, analyzed and revisited to gauge if it was the topic or other factors that created that change. Deception detection is extremely in-depth.
I don't usually like to have eye contact all the time, and sometimes when I'm talking with someone and we have had "to much" eye contact, I feel that I have to look away for a while... It doesn't mean I'm lying, but I feel uncomfortable sometimes with eye contact...
That TED talk is an amazing starting point. The problem is, if you study for decades, you will have only scratched the surface of being able to read people. I do it for a living and instruct others on how to do it as well, but it's far more difficult than all of this. The environment changes everything. We as humans are the only species to adapt to the environment as quickly as we do. Other species migrate or die off. Our environment changes everything. Background, culture, etc.
Oh dear. I have lipoedema & lymphedema in both legs & arms. To minimise my elbow, arm & shoulder pain I have to lean my arms on a table or keep them crossed which people sometimes read as closed or defensive. Its essential for me to move my feet constantly as he's shown here or my lymph fluid stops draining, leading to swelling, hardening of the lymph fluid & my legs can actually seize up completely, causing great pain & meaning I cannot move. Anyone having watched this would think someone like me is constantly lying to them which would be an inaccurate assessment, as I make every effort to be accurate, honest, open & enjoy connecting well with others. It's not that he's generally wrong but these interpretations are not always accurate. You do also have to be aware of other factors which could also account for similar body movements & gestures.
Showing open palms can also be a sign of lying, especially if they show them while moving them away from you. It's a natural gesture to show your palms when shrugging to imply you had nothing to do with something, but someone doing this gesture while being deceptive will pull their hand toward themselves while leaning away from you. The best way to question them is to ask them about their day from end to beginning. People will get confused if they have to construct a lie in backwards chronological order, and get tripped up.
I am fascinated by non verbal behavior from a variety of angles (poker, medicine, and life in general). I have a suggestion that you do a video analyzing the nonverbal behavior/microexpressions of US attorney general Jeff Sessions when he lied during his testimony to the Judicial senate committee (during senator Al Franken's questions. This is incredible to watch. It show great non verbal behavior and it show him answering a question he wasn't even asked with a lie. This analysis is needed in the public sphere to be seen by all, and I believe you will have a massive viral video in your library. Good luck. Hope you consider this.
I have behaviourism. I know when someone lies, very simply. Stumbling means they are lying if they don't already naturally stumble. Their blink rates increase if they lie. So simply.
best way to find if a person is lying or not is by having all the information associated between you and your conversation partner down. These tips may not only apply to liars but actually to commitment probability. A person may be honest and is telling their real intention but there is a higher chance or not wanting to continue with the decision in the future. self comforting body language as mentioned in the video might mean that the person was irritated somehow by the decision made in the situation. If the decision is uncomfortable for the person, the person might give a second thought to it and may not inform you about their feeling until it is too late. Some business people hide their feelings so well some call it "being professional." An intentional lie would be harder to predict most of the time.
***** Not sure if stupid or just really doge. I obviously meant BEFORE you take the shit you might do the jiggle motion. Imagine that you're in a meeting and can't leave straight away. Or that you're just simply bored. I cannot sit still without doing something with my feet now and then. Someone could easily mistake that for lying -.-
thats why he said they do this under stress. when you ask someone an important question and they begin to do this it could "indicate" that they're lying
I honestly don't care that much if someone's lying to me or not because it's more about how they're treating me and if they're doing right by me that matters more. Sometimes people are lying just to protect you or make you feel good which I can accept that. And sometimes people can be truthful with you and not really be for you, they're hating on you, they really don't like you, they don't mean well, etc. If they're lying to you and don't mean well, chances are you would have been noticed other things they do that show they're a toxic person or aren't really for you anyway outside of lying. So I'm more about the character of the person. I understand there's some important things people shouldn't lie to you about, but those who are for you would not hide that truth from you if necessary. It's deeper than just spotting a lie or truth in other words. By the way, it also strongly depends on the context of the situation at hand as well. I can't point out every situation in content so this was just a general view of how I view lying when dealing with people. Give me a different context and I might have a whole different answer.
See now, these are good ways to tell if someone lie but everyone lies in different ways and you also have to take into consideration about whether that person has issues with social situations. In my case, when I tell the truth I want to look like I'm telling the truth because I hate being called a liar, but the issue with this is that because I am over-thinking about what I'm saying, my actions and speech are out of synch, therefore not making me look at all convincing. :P
This is off topic...for now...but that's because it's merely an introduction for the sake of context. I will ask about lying after someone responds. Now, once at work, when a coworker was giving us instructions for the night and asked if there were any questions, my old manager, totally unprompted, suddenly said, "Does that make sense, John?" I think she asked me in particular because of all the times I struggled with tasks and demonstrated my slow, limited understanding. That was the night I delayed getting something for a coworker and the manager had to help me find it. I think she thinks I'm...well, whatever is a nice, more respectful word for "stupid," since she surely wouldn't use or think that mean word, especially consciously. But either way, I just can't stop the feeling and impression that she thinks I'm Mr. "Gee, I don't get it." Would that explain her "random" question to _me_ that night, no one else? That she thinks I'm slow?
First of all thank you for this helpful information, but I have a question , is there any way I can detect a lie while having a conversation with the person on the phone?
+Toveri Juri Yea also a little bit of feeling shame. and I put my hand in my pockets and don't lie some of these are like you just said, I hope he said that in is book for the people that bought it. We don't need a bunch of douche bags running around calling nervous people liar when they're not... lol
+Toveri Juri hi everyone ,if anyone else needs to find out about how to catch a cheater try Sarparder Catch Cheats Starter (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my m8 got cool results with it.

My friend was lying to me and blaming stuff on me, but the problem is that she's lying to me online and so I made another account to know if she was actually lying... And she was, and I don't think if I can talk to her or be her friend much longer...
So people do these things when they are "under stress" not when they are lying. I caught myself rubbing my neck while watching this video. I wasnt saying anything. I wasnt lying. I was thinking that someone who knows these stuff may analyise me and understand when im lying. I just got a little stressed. Its true that people get stressful when they lie, but they dont get stressfull only while they are lying.
In many anime, the protagonist will rub the back of their head such as shown. But usually it's not because they are lying but rather because they are embarrassed or overly flattered. I love anime and anime heroes and I have been doing the same thing for a long time. I wonder if people think I'm lying about something instead of being embarrassed or flattered.
When you can lok someone in the eye when you lie and have no reactions, then the person you are lying to is not pressuring you with the high-stakes consequences. Well. There is this boy, called kristian that I like and I don't know whether he likes me because he acts all weird around me but I don't know whether that is a sign or not.
That's kinda true there is other ways to tell if there lieing like they will lift there eyes up or sideways if they go up the are thinking of there story sideways as well but there are other reason they go sideways like if they lie there eyes will shift sideways if there not looking at you when there speaking there lieing they may not look at you in general but say you said are we still on for tonight the say ya and not look at you or turn there eyes sideways there lieing
Unfortunately this causes a conundrum people aren't aware of, using this guys' advice. Though the signs he's talking about exist for greater than 50%, it's further than perfect than he will ever believe or admit. People have many reasons to show these mannerisms, ticks, restless habits; they aren't always caused by lying thoughts but sometimes coincidental irritations at that time (old injuries for example) can make someone appear guilty. That system for blame shouldn't have absolute belief.
one of my employees always rubs the back of her head when I ask her a question. something went missing and when I had a talk with all of them she was the only one that did that move. how do I confront her? I don't have proof it was her, but I have a feeling it was her. please advice
just talk to her personally and ask if she did it and assure her she won't get in trouble for it .. that way you find whatever you're missing and she learns not to steal
Go up to her and say I know it was you it's cool you can tell me I'm not ganna say nothing lol manipulation is key in that situation basically come off as trustworthy
no he's not lying. his thought process is involving something he either really needs to do or say to the class or the negation of that...really don't need to. look for it in context!

I normally find out who is lying to me by holding them down and beating the truth out of them. This way is good too.....I guess.
Your method is crucial information missing in every how to spot a liar book.
Jay Davis that is so funnnnyyy😂😂😂😂😂🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Jay Davis so your telling me I should beat the truth out of you because your obviously lying
So u beat ass of your girlfriend to the truth

I did

If you lie to someone who has high connectivity of mirror neurons and spindle cells in the pre-frontal cortex, they will know that you are lying, even if they haven't had training. There are micro-expressions on the face which are universal and cannot be hidden.. There are nuances of tone and pacing in the voice that will give you away to those who have social intelligence.
Some people are experts at lying and getting away
Thanks for telling me how to lie.
i'm sorry to hear that, great to hear it works tho
You will "learn how to be a human polygraph". That claim is true. Polygraphs can't detect lies, and neither will you be able to using this sort of disproved 'body language' nonsense.
I was jiggling my feet up and down while watching this video...
I love this guy :D
You got that right
but what if somebody looks you dead in your face and lie but they're not moving any body parts or making facial expression...how would you know?

what about it?
eye contact is weird...so i lie everytime
CosmicAura X5 work on your confidence! You lack it..

Well. There is this boy, called kristian that I like and I don't know whether he likes me because he acts all weird around me but I don't know whether that is a sign or not.
I rub be back if my neck with my pointer finger whenever a teacher calls on me in class 😂
I'M LAUGHING SO HARD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought he said his name is Robert Fibs.
Robert Phibbs. *chuckle chuckle*
THANK YOU ... ! NEXT TIME I WILL BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT IF SOMEONE IS TELLING LIE OR NOT ! WELL MAY BE :P
What if i do all of this when im telling the truth and mostly laugh when im lying
I only use my hands when I'm nervous and I always us my feet like that but not putting my hands in my pocket
What if a lier is watching this and now knows not what to do.
Most of these are true unfortunately. I'm terrible at lying
now i know what not to do..
wow so cool
how to be a better liar
JOE P yeah I can tell by her body language she did it 😂😎😇🤒🤕😬😈💣💥🔥🐍🔫🐊🐢🐚🐙🦀🐌🐛🌎🌍🌏🌋🏔🏕🏟🏞🏙🏘🏗🐜🐝🐞🕷🦂🕸🌵🚮🚫💯🎶🎵🎹✈🛌⏳⌛🔌💰📍📌🖇📎✂🛠🔨🔐🔪🔧💉💊🗡⚡🌪🌩🌧🌩🍴🍽
no he's not lying. his thought process is involving something he either really needs to do or say to the class or the negation of that...really don't need to. look for it in context!
your hands speak a thousand words. subtle.
