I love this version. The amount of emotion put into each line is astonishing! You can imagine how the singer slightly smiles during certain lines, giving it a new life like an actor would. Absolutely amazing. The instrumentals are also wonderful, they lift the vocals and don’t overshadow them. Folk music is “fragile” to me due to how important the lyrics and emotions are, so it’s pleasing to hear that the musicians didn’t want to take away from that. Instead they simply support and fill in when needed. No complicated riffs, just those familiar notes to fill the air. Absolutely wonderful, it gives a new feel. This song doesn’t feel angry to me. It’s a new and needed take where you feel the sadness, and the way the character in question may laugh about some of the things that lead them to where they are now.
Goes back as a tavern song late 1600s early 1700s Europe and Britain, went across to the then colonies and really came back with British band The Animals..Good effort here mate 🇬🇧 uk
@@senianns9522 yes as I say it should really be listed as 'traditional ' many versions but over the years it became associated mainly with the animals, Joan baez does a beautiful version which I think pre dates Bob.. ruclips.net/video/RP_caKDfoyU/видео.html
I stumbled onto this version only recently. I heard many versions in the past and thought nobody could surpass The Animals version, but I was wrong. I fell in love with this version the first time I played it and cannot stop playing it. The music, the singer's voice, the video of years gone by add to the melancholy and surrealness of this rendition. Well done sir.
@@wkliao5182 Thank you for that. I did play them on your advice. They are both very good but music is subjective and this man touches my soul like no other.

I like this version. The first time I heard this when the Animals sang it back in the day. Ed Sullivan Show. Boy I'm dating myself! Anyway, by the early '70's I mentioned this tune to a girlfriend who had the music sheet to it, dated from the '50's. A female artist had sang it, but I can't remember her name. My friend pulled out her autoharp & sang it. It was more slowed down with a little more folk to it. But I do remember that there were more verses than what the Animals had sung. I'm happy to hear your version with all the verses. I hit the like button so it's in my liked video listing.
One of the best versions of this classic...have done a version ? of this about 6 years ago on youtube after downing a bottle of red ...when sobered up wasn't sure what had done ..pity you can't see me falling of the chair at the end...dam this life of fame ? Keep your great music and style acoming..
I like your faster version of this traditional song. Like the guitar work and the organ sounds really good. I'm use to hearing the version by The Animals which is much slower but this really works.

This is a great folk song. What the Animals did to this song to make it a mega rock hit is nothing short of spectacular, similar to what the Byrds did to Mr. Tamborine Man.
"Some people say that i think too much, just livin' my life in a dream"
Fucking beautiful.
I really like this version. So expressive of the subject and the sadness that goes with it.
Thank you so much!
Yeah..you feel this song ..not just hear it.
I also prefer this version but in the voice and rhythm of Santa Esmeralda. 🖖

All true. And the photographs of Depression era New Orleans are fascinating and complement the mood of the song perfectly.
Love the version and LOVE the fotos. Thank you!

There is a house down in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know that I'm one
My mother she's a tailor
She's sewn my new blue jeans
My daddy he's a gambling man
Down in New Orleans
The only thing that a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time that he's satisfied
Is when he's all drunk
Mothers tell your children
Not to do like I have done
And show 'em the house down in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
Some people say that I think too much
Just living my life in a dream
But I know that I can't forget
That house and all that it means
One foot on the platform
The other one on the train
I'm going back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
I'm going back to New Orleans
My race is almost run
Gonna spend the days that I have left
Beneath that Rising Sun
Correction: "Some people say that I think too much"
