    I know I'm in the minority but I like these longer more PCC style Mp5 variants and would love to build out an SP5L clone of one.

    HK Parts has a hilarious bayonet that attaches to a 3-lug barrel. I could hardly believe it when I stumbled on it. Thought about buying one for laughs.

    I mean, it kind of makes sense for a CQB weapon used in tight confines like maritime VBSS stuff to have a bayonet. At least more sense than it does on other weapons.

    How exactly did the bayonet lock in place inside the cocking tube, anyway? I assume it would have to be very securely mounted to withstand the stresses of combat, but I can't see what's holding the bayonet in place.
    Personally, I think bayonets should always be fixed when expecting combat in a CQB context. You can't spot everything, and some guy with a hatchet, a shovel, or a fire axe bursting out of a closet or somesuch within arm's reach can do a lot of damage. With a fixed bayonet, at least you can do something useful in that critical instant without any risk of overpenetration or ricochet, doubly so if you try to fire at someone within CQB distance and your gun jams/misfires--you can just rush forward with the fixed bayonet instead of trying to clear the jam/misfire or switching to another ranged weapon.

      The rear of the bayonet has a "male" extension that fits into a spring loaded "female" intercept point on the dust cover under the front sight. Then the bayonet ring fits over the muzzle device.

    • @Mazryonh
      @Mazryonh 2 года назад

      @@teufelshundtactical Thanks, but what exactly is holding the "male" extension securely in place inside the "female" intercept point? It can't be something like a tri-lug setup because I don't see you rotating the bayonet once it's inserted. I also don't see you releasing the securing mechanism to release the bayonet either.

    • @teufelshundtactical
      @teufelshundtactical  2 года назад +1

      @@Mazryonh The dust cover holds it in place securely. You’ll just have to trust me on this.

      The bayonet has a spring tension lug that interfaces in the socket of the bayonet adapter, my friend had one on his 91 back in the 80s so I got a good look at the setup back then.

    • @BrettNaughton
      @BrettNaughton 2 месяца назад +1

      The regular barrel is about 9 inches, this has about 5 inches more. So I'd say approximately 14 inches
