Just did this to my Giulietta using 45mm springs. Works like a charm. Used 40mm first but not strong enough. Thanks for this awesome practical DIY hack!
You're welcome, glad you got it sorted
The video Giulietta hacks & tricks was very usefull
I really want a part 2 . Keep up the work,respect.
Thank you very much for support

Effective, simple and cheap, bloody marvellous.
Thank you
Nice work, hope this will work on my 166!
Nice DIY projects, and all simple work longer. 👍
Yes, thanks
Great upgrade. Thank you for sharing. I will advise this to my friend.

Thank you very much i will try it to my Giulietta... very nice video
You're welcome 😊
Awesome video!
Thanks
Svaka čast! Pozdrav iz Srbije!
Pozdrav veliki iz BIH
Well thought of and developed.
Thanks
After some time the strain on the lock causes it to bend. Some people also reported deformations of the trunk cover, caused by the forces it must withold with those springs, while it's closed. Give it a year or two.
These have been on the car close to 2 years without any issues
Bloody brilliant 👏,
Thanks
Super 😮❤
Perfect!
Great video, How long do the springs need to be for an Alfa Romeo Mito?
Super
Would love to just buy both the hole rod assembled second hand, you could definitely earn a little seeling those in alfa groups
WOW great hack!!!!
Thanks
Great video very smart DIY hack , what size were the springs. Did you get the measurement from the wear marks on the struts for your spring cut size?
Thanks. You got the measurements in the video
Inwant to do this on my 159 sw but my boot struts are to powerfull and have no brake at the end..they just lift like mad if i dont hold the boot..i.m afraid it will break from the welding points
What is the inner diameter of the rubber washer ???
Hi ArcGarage,
Are you going to be doing the Alfa Romeo 147 Bose retrofit instal video someday? I'm sure that you will help A LOT of people with this (especially me)
Looked for it couldn't get complete set sadly
i have a 1.3 mito diesel ,any change in the dimension of the spring? Can you make one set for me (i pay for)
Excelent as always ! I remember you did a same dyi for the 147 too.. I am wondering if that trick will work on GT too. Could be a great trick .. Keep the great work my friend ! 👍
I did, it is not going to work for the GT, I tried it
@@arcgarage Pity !! I guess very heavy trunk lid and different angle of the absorbers ..Damn it hehehe
Exactly
@@brianmelcarr Hahahaha
@@arcgarage yeah I tried it too with Tesla springs but no luck :(
Fantastic, shame not useful in all kind of cars (as GT´s, not?). Very good idea👌
Yes, true, did my best do to it on a GT but it was impossible
Does this not hurt the latch mechanism at the bottom? It seems like this way there's always a pull on the boot upwards. Basically you try to open it even if it's closed.
I didn't have any issues with my 147, and it had the same setup for couple of years

Koliko dugo ga ti koristis?
Od cega si uzeo opruge?

Tel kalınlığı 3mm
What kind of springs should I ask for at the store? What are they used for?
In case you haven't figured out yet, I might give a hint. I'm looking for springs for my own and found some similar on eBay by searching trunk strut spring for opening. Don't know which ones are to be preferred, but maybe it'll help you in your search😊
hey man! i want you to answer me a question.. u can change on the GT the gasket of the cover from the healight (xenon) because my healight go foggy… or i can put from the non xenon, or where i can find it ? has a code to find and buy?
They are glued in place
Pozdrav drug, super posao.
what is the force of the hydraulic cylinders? Mine in 410 Nm are not sufficient, the trunk only opens halfway, maybe better with 420 Nm?
Not really sure, but you either need stronger springs, or more powerful struts
Hey, I did this to my Giulietta a couple months ago and worked like a charm. Recently it's not been opening by itself anymore. I changed the struts for new ones again and no luck. Any idea why?
Probably has something to do with the springs, they can lose gheir elasticity over time
But if you click the unlock button on the remote (not only the rear one) will not open the back automatically?
No, unlocking the car normally makes it possible to open the boot by pressing on the badge but doesn't actually open it. There is one button specific for opening the boot that does the same as pressing the badge.
I'm not understanding how the bottom support of the spirng stay in place. How it cannot slide down?
That's what the rubber washer is for
Is this also possible with only strong gas springs?
Don't think it is
Hi
Do you have the dimensions for the springs for an Alfa Mito 2009 as well ?
Best regards
Hi, I don't have dimensions for Mito
Which springs did you use?
Can't give you exact specs, just bought them at the hardware store
I have a problem on the Alfa 159. The switch for opening the fifth door when the temperature is 25 or more degrees C works perfectly, however, as the outside temperature drops when I press the switch, it takes more and more time for the door to open. Below 5 degrees C, the switch no longer works. otherwise, the door opens remotely without any problems. Also, below 5 degrees C, I can't open the car with the remote key. I enter the car with a mechanical key and after 10-15 minutes of driving, the central locking works. The car has a new battery. In summer, this problem does not exist. otherwise, the car starts in summer and winter without any problems. Help me.
You have to diagnose the issue
I’d like to do this on my GT but would think the rear hatch and screen are probably just too heavy 😔
Tried it out, and you're right it is too heavy
@@arcgarage 😔
Hi, do they only exist for Alfa Romeo? Thank you
For other makes as well
@@arcgarage Do you have a website or contact mail?
Can this be done on a GT or is it too heavy
Not enough room for the coils, and the boot lid is too heavy
@@arcgarage thought so
Thank you anyway
Great work
@@kingham61ki Thanks
No problem with water whatsoever
J'ai fait tout comme tu as fait et mon coffre s'ouvre a peine de 5cm :( pourquoi stp ?
Your springs are too weak
You also got to make sure that your struts are in good working order
maybe that's the problem then? Are the cylinders of the aillons worn?
thank you for answering me 😉
@@NitroDevils No problem, they lose strength over time
Di si kupio ove opruge? Ne mogu ih nigdje naci
U prodavnici alata
"promosm"
Lol just buy stronger gas shocks and replace them with the stock ones much easyer
That won't work
I've heard that when done to a Mito, there is a risk of damaging the trunk lid - I have heard that it can bend the lid... Do you have any experience with doing this on a Mito?
Hi, didn't try it on the Mito
Thank you very much i will try it to my Giulietta... very nice video
You're welcome 😊
