Watching this again in 2021 after a heartbreaking loss to Iowa in another game that we should have won. But my god, the excitement after Barkley ran back the opening kickoff, only to have OSU come back in the final quarter like that. Tough games .. tough losses .. but I respect the competition. Gus Johnson seems like that he had some of the greatest sports calls of all-time especially involving my Ohio State Buckeyes in football & basketball because he called the greatest Buckeye comebacks from basketball in 2005 to defeat an great Illinois squad then in 2007 when they defeated Xavier in the NCAA tournament & then in football this past season 2017 vs Penn State featuring Saquan Barkley because that Buckeye defense contain in the second half of that game to complete the comeback for the ages wow!

PSU fan at this game. It was the best 54ish minutes of a football game ive been to, and the worst 6ish minutes to. This game came down to PSU's lack of offensive line depth on the roster (due to sanction years recruiting) and a tired defense at the end. OSU's stellar recruiting year in and year out won this game. They had 4 and 5 star recruits as depth players late in the game. PSU did not. That was the difference.
Unfortunately, JT may never get his due as a GREAT QB. Not the fastest, not the best arm & sadly that's how history will remember him. But those of us that SAW it, those of us that cared (should) know that that young man was as smart & athletic & capable as any one else. He was a true leader. A field general that gave us 4 years of elite football! History may not favor his accomplishments. The media might not give him the credit he deserves. the call should have been incomplete pass since Denzel Ward had enough contact to prevent possession in the air. still the review could have called it incomplete... not sure it's even legal to overturn an int to a TD. i've never seen it happen. but then again, if you can possess the ball with a helmet or behind a defender's back, i guess it's possible. it was the earlier bad call that took int away from 7 was worse i thought. btw, in college, there's no challenge, refs review whenever necessary.
Yes if they would've called it a touchdown from the beginning and then reviewed it and still called it a touchdown I wouldn't have had a problem but when they called an int there was not enough evidence to overturn it

Joey Carbone Nope. That USC team was clearly different than this one. Adoree Jackson was on that team, and he made it. Sam Darnold is great in his own right, but it feels something is missing, and if I recall Adoree did play offense and do well.

i remember watching the first half of this game and then having to get into the car to drive somewhere, and up to that point penn state was whooping us, i reluctantly turned on the radio to listen to the last half, and boy am i glad i did

Ohio state penn state has always been a rivalry. OSU and MU is just more hype
I feel like the match ups for these teams hit a new level or saw a resurgence in 08 up to now. As of late it’s usually been penn state and Michigan state that give OSU the most trouble or they’ll be a random season where they get caught asleep at the wheel and a Wisconsin, Purdue, etc. will pull off an upset. Hopefully we can see Clemson again this year

Matthew Hackett Sadly, yes. We should tell Denzel Ward to play special teams at all times, since he can outrun anyone in the nation (he has the fastest 40 of anyone in the nation I believe) and he blocked the punt.
I went to school with him and played football with him. He is a great kid. Awesome guy.

Ohio State needs lots of work on special teams but the stats clearly showed that Ohio State is the better team
