Correction: As any northern New Yorker will tell you, the dogs come from Hofmann's Sausage company and while they are great at Heid's, you can buy them at any supermarket in the north country. Most of us NYers grew up on them.
I used to live in Rochester, so we have Nick Tahoe's and Empire Hots serving Zwiegles. Buffalo on the other hand has Ted's. Upstate NY is just a Wing and Hot dog mecca.
first time at heids and i am in love! too bad i live in calgary :( was only in the area for two days and ate there on both days 😂 thanks for the wicked hospitality liverpool/syracuse!
I. O. O. Heids is Awesome ! That is true and not misleading !! Boeheim “ handsome “ not true Boeheim “ winningest “ - misleading - cuz he’s been around forever in Big East
Cute, but did anyone ever tell this guy how to pronounce Onondaga? (he pronounced it as if it's spelled "Ownondaga", tsk, tsk. In fact it's a short "o" as in "online". Note to the filmmaker...when in a town you don't know you should check with the locals about pronunciations!)
A hotdog with egg whites? I study pastry and culinary arts, egg whites have been used for sponge cakes, as well as Merengues and Macaroons. I never thought of a hotdog recipe that included such ingredient.
Lived there from 86-89. Moved from California. Absolutely loved it. One of my favorite places I've lived. I moved right after the Great Northern Mall opened. I saw that on Dead Malls on RUclips.
No special recipe. These are Hofmann's German franks. One recipe although they come in different sizes. Claiming a special recipe is the biggest lie in the hot dog business. It is done, but not nearly as much as it's claimed.
It is a special recipe but not just for Heid's. It was at one time but Hoffmann's started mass producing their unique hot dogs and you can buy them anywhere in central or northern NY.
Liverpool my ass. Liverpudliens are known for "scouse"..a stew made from mostly veg..and all the meat you can spare. Lobby in Stoke hence the name lob it all in
Not saying anything bad about the place, but it's hot dogs. With a little effort and buying dogs from a butcher, you can make 5 times as many hot dogs on your grill for the price of one at any hot dog stand. And they're just as good.
Seen Liverpool, got excited, clicked video, thought a food challenge was in my city, nope..... and now I'm disappointed 😂
Go to garlands, plenty of sausage in there mate
Bin dippers in America too
@@brianlion9494 bruh🤣

He said that Hoffman makes a unique recipe just for Heids. So yes you can buy them, but they're slightly different.
I used to live in Rochester, so we have Nick Tahoe's and Empire Hots serving Zwiegles. Buffalo on the other hand has Ted's. Upstate NY is just a Wing and Hot dog mecca.
Hoffman’s best hot dogs on the planet
The second best Liverpool in the world
Hey I'm from Liverpool Australia and yes this checks out.
The meal at Hied’s: 1 or 2 dogs(or a mixed double) a side of cheese fries, and Byrne Dairy chocolate milk.
Anything else is sac religious.

What do you go for when you're there mate?
I gain weight watching these. Swear to God I'm gonna tour the country some day stopping at all these places to eat.

Ketchup on a hot dog? You lose all flavor, and only taste hot dog.
I like the whie coney best, delicious

@@R3troZoneNo special recipe. This from two people that are in the business including one who works for Hofmann's.

This place has the most mediocre hot dogs I've ever had. I'm not sure what all the hype is for, but whatever...
ordealbyfire no offense but you are a moron if you believe that.
ordealbyfire
Lol...i laughed when i read their comment. Someone looking to troll. 😂
spoken like someone who has had many mediocre hot dogs thrown down the hallway
careful with all that edge 😂
Honestly I agree I'm much more down with the ice cream heids next door
@30sec when the guy is squeezing mustard over the edge of the bun... Just offensive.
Also Hoffman dogs are better
Kkona people keep calling them chefs just say grill man or something
