Thank you very much for replying bato me because I'm from Cambodia and we love those snakes heads fish ,in our country they are everywhere in fresh rice fields and everywhere in pot holders
Very cool! Some day I would love to travel outside the U.S to do more fishing. Plenty of unique species out there hiding in unique habitats like you have over there in Cambodia!
Thanks for the advice. I do that with most of my frogs but have a solid hook up ratio using the frog in the video the way it is. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it hahah
I used to fish that first spot, the cops kick you out now. Caught tons of snakehead and bowfin there. You can use shrimp for bowfin, last couple times I was there caught snakeheads and bowfin on swimjigs. I miss that spot.😢
That’s sad to hear. I caught my lifer Snakehead on my first cast there and had thought about returning next spring to try for more, but I’d rather not deal with any Law Enforcement when I don’t need too. I’ve never heard of Shrimp being used for Bowfin! That’s pretty cool
To me it’s extremely weird fishing in a location that has both Snakeheads and Bowfins that coexist together 😳. No wonder there has been so much misinformation and disinformation going around about Bowfin, that is native!!
Snakeheads have invaded so many water ways here in the eastern U.S that it’s becoming increasingly more common to find Snakeheads in places that are home to native Bowfin. It’s important for anglers to know the difference to avoid causing any harm to native populations of Bowfin.
Dont listen to the ppl saying you are spot burning. Only ppl who have been there or are familiar with the spots you showed will pick up ok where you are. (Like me lol both are good spots and thats definitely a nice spot for bowfin watch out for the turtles i saw them everywhere last time i went there lol) but anyways keep up the video and you arent spot burning unless your saying exactly where you are. Keep catching fish
Due to spot burning, I will not give the precise location of this spot. What I will say is that both Norrhern Snakehead and Eyetail Bowfin exist in marshes that stem from the Delaware River. A little work on Google maps and you should be able to find plenty of public access points that will give you a good shot at both species
@@jarodbrenneman8661 I know the feeling. Despite their aggressive reputation Snakeheads can be rather picky about what they eat especially as it gets into the warmer Summer months. I would maybe try using a fluorocarbon leader to make your presentation slightly more natural
@@TheVilleOutdoors that's the leader I use but I don't know know if is the right weight (30 lb fluorocarbon) but I thing next time I'll use some minnow or get a small top water frog.
I am not going to disclose the exact location on here for risk of spot burning, but pretty much any swampy area connected to the main Delaware River should have both Snakehead and Bowfin
@@frankcastle9991 Thanks man! Island Beach State Park is one of the spots I wanted to try at some point. I make a decent bit of day trips to the beaches during the summer.
@@TheVilleOutdoors 👍🏼summer is a good time over here on the beach with fluke or rays big and small. Spring and fall is Striped Bass and Bluefish is my favorite on any of the local beaches. I have heard that they are good eating! Despite what I said about “disposing” of the snakehead in the video. I released this fish back to the water after quick photographs. I typically don’t eat fish that I catch unless I know it will not survive upon release
Nice! I thought it would make sense since the water is so murky something flashy and noisy would be perfect. But unfortunately I didn’t have the same luck. Coulda just been the day/conditions
I don’t have an address for here, but a majority of the marshy areas connected to the Delaware River should hold both Snakehead and Bowfin on the Jersey side
Probably not the best idea for me to drop the location on here publicly. But if you have the app Fishbrain you can go to the map and filter by species to find Northern Snakehead. Some people leave the catch location on and that’ll give you an idea of where to find these things

@@leapong5936 I can’t give away the direct location on here due to spot burning but pretty much any marshy area that is fed by the Delaware River will have Snakeheads
Dude there aren’t two bowfin species. Some have the eye on the fin because they’re males. Both genders have it when they’re young but the females lose when they’re fully grown
Do me a favor and Google “How many Bowfin species are there?” One of the first results is Britannica.com which clearly states there are at least 2 separate species of Bowfin and up to 4 species are possible, but genetic work hasn’t been fully completed to confirm any more than two species for now. Currently there is Eyetail Bowfin (Amia ocellicauda) and Ruddy Bowfin (Amia Calva)
@@connortank3324 If you would like to believe there is one species of Bowfin, that is fine. It still won’t change the scientific work that has been done to prove otherwise.
This spot sees alot of pressure as it is try not filming the road next time please. That is privately owned i already cleaned that spot up once due to people trashing it its exrtemly easy to get spots shut down by doing things like this. Thank you.
I appreciate your concern and I understand the issue of spot burning and keeping the environment clean, but as I mentioned in a previous comment, I do not mention the name of the road or the nearest town in the video. The small handful of fishermen that see this video and are familiar enough with the area to pick out the exact location which is only featured in the first 5 minutes of the video probably already know the spot. Once again I appreciate the concern as I understand the issue but my channel is not near big enough to actually make an impact like that.
@@mustluvkatina clearly your lack of intellect is what made you name call for absolutely no reason. I am glad you can't fish there anymore. Have a nice day
Truth be told I released the Snakehead unharmed, but said what I said to please the other side of the argument lol. In open water there’s no point in killing them. As fast as they spread they’re here to stay and honestly more fun than bass in my opinion.
Damn how u gonna come to jersey and just kill our fish. Didnt eat him didn't use him for bait u could have tossed him back like majority of fisherman in Jersey do
Despite what I said in the video I did release this Snakehead. I’m a catch and release angler by heart and when targeting this species I was torn between what side of the argument to be on. I figured it would be better to say the fish was disposed of, rather than released. But this fish was indeed released
I don’t mention the name of the road or even the county in the video. Recommend that you trim the frog's legs, so that they'll strike closer to the body of the lure for better hook up ratio.
