My First Fish of 2025! Fishing For Brown Trout With The Berkley Gulp Minnow!(Things Got Interesting)
Welcome to 2025! I wanted to get out earlier in the year, but it's been a mix of bad weather and extreme cold here in southeastern Pennsylvania. As one who likes warm weather, I waited to see the forecast creep up to 30 degrees before I ventured out for my fish of the year. Although this video doesn't put things to scale, it took a 3 hour fishing session to finally land one fish, although not the biggest of the bunch, it was a rewarding feeling after going nearly a whole month without fishing!
Gear Used:
Ugly Stik Elite 6' Medium Light
Shimano Sedona 2500 HG Reel
Leland Lure's S.O.S Trout Line (2lb Monofilament)

The Hunt For A 20 Inch Brown Trout Continues!! (Eastern Pennsylvania Wild Trout Fishing)
Просмотров 685Месяц назад
I have always enjoyed trout fishing and the challenges it presents, but fishing for wild trout is a whole new world. Although not native to the United States, the places that you come across searching for these wild populations of brown trout can be quite captivating. In this episode I hop along a creek in Northampton, Pa in search of some trophy class wild brown trout! Things didn't go exactly...
A MISERABLE Day Of Wild Trout Fishing In Pennsylvania... (Frozen Hands, Snags and Lost Lures)
Просмотров 2092 месяца назад
We all have our good days of fishing, and we all have our bad days of fishing. This day happened to be the latter in that statement. I started the day out later than usual in hopes to avoid the below freezing temps of the early morning, but I didn't account for the wind chill bringing the temperature down from 38 degrees Fahrenheit to below freezing! The whole time I was battling to keep my han...
Fishing A New Jersey Inlet For ALIEN-Looking Fish!? (Fall Season Saltwater Fishing)
Просмотров 5022 месяца назад
In the cooler months of the year, there are several uniques species of fish that can be found swimming in and out of inlets that aren't found here in the summer months. I usually go to the beach when its hot outside, so I have had very little experience with these species. It was time for that to change as I hit u one of New Jersey's inlets and tried to catch these unique species. Everyone arou...
Saltwater Micro-Fishing In New Jersey Takes An Unexpected Turn! (3 New Species! Tropical Strays!)

Having seen recent catches from other life-listers in the community, I was driven to try saltwater micro-fishing one more time this year. I had set out with the goal of caching some of the more common species I hadn't yet added to my life-list such as Skilletfish and Striped Blenny. However things took an unexpected turn at my last spot when I was greeted by dozens of tropical reef fish still s...
Multi-Species Fishing A Tiny, Urban Creek FULL Of Pollution (Chester County, Pennsylvania)
Просмотров 4162 месяца назад
It's always nice to fish your honey holes, but sometimes you have to go out and find those hidden urban creeks that no one else thinks to fish. These creeks may seem void of life, trashy, and even smelly to most people, but that doesn't mean there's not fish! In this video we found a tiny creek jammed between a highway and a shopping center and decided to give it a try! 7 species in just over t...
Micro-Fishing A Small New Jersey Creek For Shad! (Delaware River Tributary)
Просмотров 5782 месяца назад
In this video I crossed the bridge from Pennsylvania into New Jersey on the hunt for a new species of shad for my life-list. It took me awhile to find bait to catch them, but there was plenty of juvenile American Shad swimming up this tributary of the Delaware River which made catching my first one fairly easy. Species number 189 for me!
Fishing Jerkbaits For QUALITY Wild Brown Trout! (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)

Traveling into northeast Pennsylvania towards the Poconos can guide you to some awesome trout waters. I have fished a few of these creeks known to hold big wild brown trout in the past, but my luck has always been sparse. This time I headed to a creek I had never fished before in search of some of these wild brown trout. The first two hours of fishing were unproductive with 0 bites to show for ...
Are TROPICAL FISH Species Still Around In October?!?! (Saltwater Micro-Fishing! 6 NEW SPECIES!)
Просмотров 2793 месяца назад
New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and even places further north experience a phenomenon along their Atlantic coasts that causes fish species found in more tropical and sub-tropic waters to stray north, far outside their expected range. For a multi-species angler like myself this phenomenon allows me to catch fish species I would usually have to travel hundreds of miles to try and catch. We can...

Fishing for wild trout populations is one of my favorite ways to fish. Early fall trout stockings have begun in Pennsylvania and in this week's video I decided to give fall trout fishing a shot. Hahaha! That’s how it was the first time I fished there. Just one bite, but the only thing I actually hooked was Snapping turtles… guys in their kayaks say they have good luck early in the morning throwing top water in the shade lines

@TheVilleOutdoors I've thought about launching my jon boat farther down the Repaupo Creek (closer to the river - you probably know the spot I'm talking about) and hitting some of the creeks back there. There's tons of them that go on for a few miles. All very weedy which is great for bowfin and snakeheads. You ever catch a snakehead out of there?

I prefer to call brown trout as non-natives since they tend not to have high reproductive success to be considered invasive. I also prefer to refer to them as stream bred instead of wild. Probably just the ecologist in me😅. I have always thought that the main river would have big browns in it but it was so abused in the past. Now that it is cleaner I would like to try microfishing the river.

Yes. Both species can have an ocellation on the tail. I believe it’s just more bold in males vs. females. In South Carolina you have Ruddy Bowfin (Amia calva) while here in Jersey the Eyetail Bowfin (Amia ocellicauda) is the native species. Both very similar but different genetics caused them to be split into two species a few years back.

Tough to throw a trout magnet far with no splitshot on a 2lb line. Jerk bait well done! We forget sometimes that trout eat small fish too, and not just insects. I would have first switched to a spinner so this is a good tip. Thanks Ville!

Love diverse streams like this. Reminds me of a Waterfall I fish at here in NH. If you ever want to catch more Fallfish , waterfalls are the place to be (hence the name). Do you ever try inline spinners? I bet you'd have some good luck from a small Rooster Tail or Panther Martin, though it looks like you're getting plenty of action from the soft plastics ;)

I had to go to the remote areas to catch trout though , but they were there. I'm not sure if using fluorocarbon makes a difference or not. . I've always used it....well braid with a fluorocarbon leader.

Going to those remote places are definitely the way to go. Those populations are naturally reproducing and don’t get stocked. Fish are much healthier and when less pressure by other anglers they can be more aggressive as well. Light fluorocarbon leader definitely can help as it’s more transparent in the water.

Hello, I live in a PXV address, and I'm happy to have found your channel! You know so many spots near here that I've never heard of. With no connections Im having quite a tough time finding spots. Would you be willing to share the coordinates of some spots you have fished and would recommend that are near Kimberton, etc? Thank you, I'm glad you're still making videos, working through all of them.

Thanks for watching!! I have a decent amount of spots in the area. Most of them are just public access trail parking and I’ll end up walking upstream or downstream depending on the day. There’s fishing access at the parking areas usually, but I just like to move around a lot while I fish. I’d be happy to share some spots with you and get you started. Any chance you’re on Facebook or instagram at all? Their messaging features allow to send coordinates a bit easier than RUclips comments haha.

How many have you caught? I am from the southern teir of New York and I have seen them a lot, I am trying to do some research on them!

This one is the only one I have caught on hook & line. This one came out of my local creeks which has a seemingly healthy population of them. They’re very cool fish!

I'm in SW Pa and creek fish from April to Dec and don't think I've ever caught a fall fish. Nice vid man

Far southwest Pa is slightly out of the native range of the Fallfish. Now granted that doesn’t mean that they aren’t there, but might be a little tougher to come across. Thanks for your support!

Nice! This is the first time I’ve attempted to fish it. Seems like it could be a lot better than what I was able to do in this video. I’ll have to go back another time

Thanks! I’m always happy to display the diversity of an ecosystem. Most people don’t even care to learn about the small fish. Most people are only trying to catch the big ones

My friend had snowy grouper in his minnow trap at his dock but I wasn't able to catch one.

I had friends catch multiples of them using similar tactics to what I used in the video, but I wasn’t lucky enough to get one. But I’ll definitely settle with a Scamp til next year!

To me it’s extremely weird fishing in a location that has both Snakeheads and Bowfins that coexist together 😳. No wonder there has been so much misinformation and disinformation going around about Bowfin, that is native!!

    • @TheVilleOutdoors
      @TheVilleOutdoors 4 месяца назад

Snakeheads have invaded so many water ways here in the eastern U.S that it’s becoming increasingly more common to find Snakeheads in places that are home to native Bowfin. It’s important for anglers to know the difference to avoid causing any harm to native populations of Bowfin.
