I passed out on your knife build (from extreme tiredness, not boredom) and was dreaming I was in a knife making class. Possibly the most informational dream I've ever had! P. S. Your videos are still going! Love the channel
Love the simplistic yet very effective way you make this knife!!! Love your relaxed, easy yet detailed manner of presenting in the whole video. Great video, man!
I started watching your videos after repairing my first knife, not really knowing what I was doing, but I really am fascinated by the way you work and how well you explain the steps to take. It will eventually take me to buy the tools and try to make my first knife! Thank you for your insights! Great videos!
I really love the show. Not a lot of talk, just enough. I think what makes it so enjoyable is the music and your brother has a neat way of capturing what you’re doing. Can’t wait to see the next video.
StratosGear Thought I would be in “hurry up/get on with it” mode, however if you just watch the video part and listen to the music you quit thinking how to supervise him. Actually learned a few things by just calming down a little.
I built a wooden "box" to hold my 9" Milwaukee Angle Grinder. for the very same purpose you did with the smaller version. My grinder was damaged so rather than buying parts for a gigantic grinder I had not used in several years I teansformed it into a permanent 9 in bench grinder. The trigger was completely broken so I wired it permanently on. I added an on/off rocker switch in the power cord. It works great and my small angle grinders are bug enough for the needed grinding of welds etc. I did learn the portable bandsaw trick from you. A whole lot more economical than a dedicated floor model bandsaw.
Hahahahaha. This is hilarious. I've spent all yesterday and today researching neck knives for my thru-hike next year, but I've really been wanting to make as much of my gear as I can instead of buying it. And then...voila. This wonderful video pops up! Perfect timing, sir. Great video. Love the simple, but functional design. And your videos are just so pleasant to watch that I've begun playing them on part of my computer screen while I'm doing research or writing on the other half of my screen. And the music selection is always brilliant. Thanks for the great video and for sharing this knowledge. Much appreciated.
That blue ink works much better than marking pens I finally spent a few dollars and money well spent. Great job and another good video Sir Merry Christmas 🎅 thanks
I really like the shape of this knife. I have been looking for something similar. I do prefer a recurve edge on the opposite side, but what you did is pretty awesome.
Hey I made a jig to hold my 9" Milwaukee Angle Grinder. I use it often for shaping blades. My "grinding wheel" is an antique. Literally. It is a hand crank grinding wheel with a fairly heavy flywheel. It works well without electric power. I found it in an old barn that had collapsed. My belt sander is from Grizzly Tools. Kind of expensive but I used to craft cutlery as an income stream.
I have a case of arthritis in both hands so I have had to come up with a few work arounds in my shop. One workaround i have done is a 1x30 inch belt grinder converted to a knife sharpener. I removed the table then I mounted it on its back by building a 90 degree bracket out of 3/4 MDF and screwing the base of the sander to it. I routinely sharpen kitchen knives to 1000 grit with this rig. Also since it’s hard for me to sand the flats of blades I use an old knob from a lid from a discarded skillet lid. I just super glue the knob to the side of the knife and push it back and forth. The super glue will pop off the steel with a little heat and a sharp rap from a hammer. I use the window from an old gas kitchen oven as a flat surface for my sand paper. I don’t build knives but I do like to find good knives at thrift stores and such. I use the tools I have described to make them like new again.
Hey David. Thanks for watching and for the inquiry. We had a very busy summer with work and my brothers wedding. We just posted a new video yesterday. Check it out.
Could you posssibibly post a suggested price, for this neck survival knife? Everything about it, is wonderful. I am old school, from the 50s and 60s, and, I've never seen anything like this.
Hi Dustin. I have the same 1” belt sander from harbor freight. How did you modify the table top to angle toward the belt? Could you share? Thanks! Great stuff man. God bless! 🇺🇸
I’m a little disappointed that this wasn’t a knife I could purchase. Out of everything I’ve been looking or this was perfect but I don’t have the tools (or the skill lol) to build it. Enjoyed the video though :)
Thanks for the comment and question. I don’t normally, except for what I can reach down inside to oil. The oil on the outside soaks into the leather to keep it from becoming dried out. Thanks again.
2 questions, how thick are your circular blades? mine seem alot thinner. Also, could you please share your modification you made to the 1x30 sander to make the deck of the sander tilt up.
The blades I am using are right around 1/8” thick. A friend gave me a few that he uses for his roofing business to cut asphalt shingles. I just posted some pictures a few days ago on Instagram showing how I modified my 1x30 tool rest. instagram.com/p/B8efLMTnMCa/?igshid=1191mnnqr1fq
Thank you for showing not only the knife but how to do the sheath!
I love the low tech approach.

I really enjoyed this particular project. I think I may have a group of Scouts make their own knives and sheathes.

Great little knife.
As usual, your explanation and pace are perfect.

Although I prefer short form videos I really enjoyed your take on it. Good explanations and videography. You got a new sub here ☺😉
Veramente molto bello.... Bravissimo 👍

An incredible craftsman and you have great taste in music too. I'd love to know who the musicians are.

Nice job! The way you present the material and the how to instructions were excellent.
John RET Military
muy buen video
Gracias!
great video
Ever thought of buying a counter sinking bit to make a smoother finish
did you heat treat it? how's it going to hold an edge if not?? looks cool.
So many good tidbits of info in this vid, thanks for sharing it. When will we get to see more?
Hey David. Thanks for watching and for the inquiry. We had a very busy summer with work and my brothers wedding. We just posted a new video yesterday. Check it out.
If you are using paracord it seems like a good idea to round the idges of the handle slightly
Very good work but, why to not use all the initial material for a biggest size knife ?
Old video but have you thought about putting a strap over the grinder jig? If it "bites" or something it's free to fly out and maybe hit you.
Could you posssibibly post a suggested price, for this neck survival knife? Everything about it, is wonderful. I am old school, from the 50s and 60s, and, I've never seen anything like this.

anthony polidoro just cut the back and right lips of the table of and it will allow you to tilt it back
awesome sir ready dig ur channel ...

Did you heat treat blade? Your videos are awesome. Much love from finland 🎩🔪
thats a really nice knife, i'm going to steal that one, have you thought of using a celtic button knot
Awesome
AWESOME!
👍made in Brasil!!
What type of leather did you use for the sheath? I keep buying soft leather
What kind of drill bits are you using for the metal?
ok if that steel is hardened how do you drill your holes have you gone to the blacksmith guild of central marylad yet
what kind of tool are you using to set the angle
Great yob do u sale this projects?
Отличный нож👍🏻
Do you ever put the Neetsfoot oil inside the scabbard?
Thanks for the comment and question. I don’t normally, except for what I can reach down inside to oil. The oil on the outside soaks into the leather to keep it from becoming dried out. Thanks again.
What kind of sandpaper do you use for knife making? I’ve been using 3M purple and it’s horrible. It last like 30 seconds.
how many mm is the drill bit for the stiching hole
I know I’m three years late but now I want one
very groovy
Clamp your blade in a vise or to the table then do that wrap ,its much easier

What is the music you play in these videos? I need a soundtrack like this for my shop!
Your countersinking is a bit rough looking but I like the knife a lot. Good work!
loving the vids! hey what grit of sand paper do you use to sharpen?
