I became a metalhead in 2003. Life was Devildriver, Lamb of God, and Chimaira. Those were the holy trinity for me. Chimaira unfortunately dismembered, but luckily LOG and DD are still cranking out music 20 years later! No album will compare to the first 3 of each band because of the impact it had on me, but I shit you not I am just as excited about this new album as I was about Fury. The last 2 DD albums were my least favorite, but this new single brings me back - not to Fury or LKW, but a Winter Kills era which was also fucking incredible. Still rolling with ya, Devildriver!

This is a powerful song, and as a Christian here? It makes me think of how the Old Testament is basically God telling us "Guys, I love you all, but you are TRYING MY PATIENCE WITH YOU." I interpret that as Him showing tough love to His greatest creation to help us get back in line. The message of this song where God is telling us "Hey, *you* did that, don't look at Me--take responsibility for yourself," makes a lot of sense to me, because it's when people think they have it all under control is when we're most vulnerable to sin and complacency, among other things. Overconfidence comes from pride, and as it says in Proverbs 16:18? "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." That's what that's making me think, anyway.

Been a big fan of Devildriver since 2003 or so. They lost me a little on Pray for Villains and definetely on Beast but have enjoyed just about anything since. Actually they were the last bigger show I went to since Covid until this year.
Dez is so amazing live, been lucky to see him at 16, 20, and 26, he was amazing every time! Nothing will compare to being 16 moshing to beast in a huge pit in Atlanta!

And I can't believe Jonathan Miller is playing with them still, I lived with him around like 2012-2013 in a, semi-sober living house, kept in touch for years but glad he's back healthy!

I randomly today found some of their merch because a dude at my school always gets free cloths in his room at the school and the teashirts happend to be in that pile of clothes I’m glad I found them, they are like an underground band I would have never knew about them until today I love them

Saw them play the Download festival in England back in 2006. They actually played twice that weekend (Friday and Saturday) some band (can't remember who) pulled out and Devildriver filled in for them... quality band
I'd recommend sticking with their early material: The self-titled album, Fury of Our Makers Hand, Last Kind Words, Pray for Villains. Beast, Winter Kills and Trust No One aren't bad either, but their latest material is so bland. I think Iona was really the only song that hooked me, just my opinion.

I feel for the guy, his voice is one of a kind and he's proven to us in the past that he has what it takes. Now if only the songwriting could step up again, get back to their groove metal roots and stop pissing about with this prog crap.
That album is the single worst by them. Its basically faster coal chamber. Its cringe. Almost all mid tracks. The only 2 true stand outs are the mountain and what does it take to be a man. The rest is...decent. This more progressive and technical version of them i will always take over their old groove metal

Grinfucked Dez screaming best ive heard from any band on that particular song. In terms of technical aspects not best album but from start to finish truthfully I could listen to it without pressing skip on some other albums I cant listen to every song without pressing skip. Desperate Times my fave song by them. What a fucking band!

Seems like Chimaira is back now. They have 2 shows in May for the 20th anniversary of The Impossibility Of Reason. Hopefully they stay together
