Q) How did I get more Double Pains? A) The only way to aquire more than one is via a developer oversight; if you pick up a badge dropped by an enemy while your badge inventory is full (200 is the maximum allowed), you can choose to toss any of your other badges. This action makes the game think you "discarded" a one-of-a-kind badge, so a copy of it will be on sale at Lovely Howz of Badges (even if you pick the original back up again). This can be repeated indefinitely with any badge, though the shop can only hold three instances of a particular badge (like Double Pain) at once. Have fun!
That's true! I'm pretty sure there's a reference to the Chuckster in TTYD, the Pianta bouncer outside of the parlor says "You do anythin' funny, I'll toss you like DAT!" which simultaneously gave me a good laugh and sent shivers down my spine remembering that level from Sunshine
For years I have debated whether or not that was actually Jolene, although considering how her kid brother can teleport in the remake I'm guessing maybe she has similar powers just nowhere near as strong. Regardless she's an S-Tier character.

One thing I like a lot about Chapter 3 is the way it gives us a more direct look at what Crystal Stars can do. The game isn't shy about telling you that Crystal Stars are neutral objects that can be used for good or ill depending on who's handling them, but Chapter 3 is one of the only times in the game where we get to see someone other than Mario utilising this power (have your arguments here about whether or not Doopliss was powered up by his Crystal Star - I believe he was). And what a use it was! Grubba wasn't just sucking the life force out of people, he was eradicating them entirely! Even if you take the angle that the fighters' bodies got kind of "stored" in the Crystal Star, that still meant they were literal disembodied spirits, and also raises the concern that after enough time of Grubba using their power, their bodies would fade away permanently or something like that. With the later context that the Shadow Queen made the Crystal Stars, Chapter 3 is a really quite chilling glimpse into just what these things are capable of.

“Hallow” is very similar to “hollow.” Whereas the Corruption and the Crimson are two variants on Terraria’s idea of a grotesque and inherent evil, the Hallow is an aggressively hostile place with the facade of a happy fantasy land. While in Terraria’s lore the Hallow is meant to the be world’s way of forcibly bringing balance to nature, I love to interpret it as another hostile force that’s pretending to be purely good. More related to TTYD, I think the fact that Mario, player-chosen dialogue aside, is always willing to help anybody with a problem regardless of their background shows just how kind-hearted he is. He rallies a meek tribe of creatures, brings a mafia family together to discuss their problems, shows kindness to someone who was working with the people trying to stop him just a few chapters ago, and so on. Mario’s just a good guy willing to help anyone.

i CAN'T be the only one who pronounced gonzales as gon-zale-z
Not once was i able to do a single superguard my entire playthrough
Equipping two Simplifiers really helps! I would practice against Goombas just to get the timing
1:30 Rawk the Hawk
-Nin10doland 2024
it’s also my favourite chapter. :)
Thane: "I acquired more than one Double Pain badge due to a developer oversight (I'll explain what that is in the comments)"
Also Thane: Doesn't do that
Oops! I meant description lol. Hold on, I'll put it in as a pinned comment now
Okay, it is now a comment, thank you 😅
Rawk Hawk was a former 🌽star before becoming a pro-wrestler.
You do realize that prince mush was the FRIST champion of the gliz pit meaning he didn't have to fight anyone to get the title
I don't think Mush would've automatically been granted the title for nothing, before the current setup I imagine there was probably a tournament to determine who would be the first champ
He probably fought and defeated Koopanator since he's Rank 1 in the Glitz Pit.
Chapter 3 best chapter
1:28 coulda said Rock Hawk sucks you
SpongeBob roller coaster
The Prince Mush fight really felt like a fan made joke fight and I think it honestly sucked because of that. I really think it could have been a cool fight, but it was more like the 64 pro mod bonus master fight.
It does seem like the designers were inspired by ROM hacks, which is wild 😅 I enjoyed the fight because figuring out how to overcome his second phase felt like a small puzzle, but I understand not liking it
While I think it's neat, I can't say I blame you for not liking it. I mean I still haven't beaten it, but that's more so because I'm too busy to play.
I would have preferred to fight a harder version of Rawk Hawk. I didn't care for Mush at all.
if only superguard wernt made easier by the framerate being halved
I thought I read that it was actually made very slighter harder to make up for the framerate being 30? I never superguarded in the OG so I don't have a basis for comparison myself...
I suppose you could always equip multiple Unsimplifiers to make it more challenging lol
That makes it easier because you have more time to input the superguard timing

when you make the video on the next chapter, will you talk about Vivian being (possible) trans?
I will be talking about her being trans, yes--I won't focus on the topic too much but I will treat it delicately. I actually did some research on it even before the remake
@@ThaneGaming Sounds great, locking forward to the video
Not sure what you mean by "possible," it's very much blatantly confirmed. She even phrases her description of it in the same way that a lot of trans people do, they did their research and made sure to get it right
@@Pearl_Blossom I wasn't sure if it was really confirmed or just heavily hintet at, plus I played ttyd in german so I wasn't sure how much of the text is different in english. I didn't notice anything along the lines of her being trans in the German version so I put the possibly there just tu be sure, I identify as trans myself so I didn't mean it in a bad way
It’s funny cause chapter 3 is literally everyone’s favorite
Yeah...I guess chapter 3 is more popular than it isn't! I have heard from some people who didn't like it because of the back to back fights though
