Every update of this game is even fleshier and more awesome. The new update has two levels which have been revamped significantly and there's even a bit of story too (how the meat outbreak began). This will probably be the last time I cover Iron Meat until the release (which hopefully won't be too long), so I figured I'd go out all guns blazing with a no-hit video. :)
I’m extremely grateful that retro style games endured the test of time. AAA games are such a massive time sink. Sometimes you just want to load up a game and start blasting
I have this suspicion that whoever animated this intro is the same guy that also made the video clip for Dead And Gone by Twiztid. Litterally the same artstyle and also meaty!
Other, older titles like Blazing Chrome and Super Cyborg are also games that I would consider better than Operation Galuga. It's not the WORST, but disappointing considering Wayforward previously made the amazing Contra 4.
They're really 'Fleshing' out the story and game for sure hee hee. Nice little details being added more and more like the 'no-wifi signs and much more happening around in the background which really helps a lot in the appeal of this wonderful successor. Just I do hope it flourishes at full release! Just a lot you can do with the concept of infected vehicles/objects especially which is kinda the main charm of the game for me in my opinion. Seeing such both mundane and unexpected stuff get twisted and assimilated crudely into monsters such as an Elevator, window, or even a crate. reminds me a bit of those zombie vehicles from Zombie army which were the best thing in that game in my opinion as well. Even crossovers might be quite good too with what could be combined and all that heh...and fanart. Just hoping The TV tropes page also gets updated heavily too.
Considering metal slug was an inspiration hopefully we get to ride some bigass tank "like the 1st boss" or a plane. Also sea themed fleshers.Or some characters asisting in certain levels. So many posibilities
Always nice to see the iterations of good ideas that improve on them, especially since I liked this idea from the beginning. The train stage looks neat, and you've improved too, ABG.
Damn this is cool. From the Cinemassacre guys too. The little touches (and big bloody ones) seem to give this enough oomph to stand out from just being a Contra clone. That train level's rad!
Gives me major nostalgia vibes of going to the arcade standing in front of a machine trying to make that last quarter last as long as possible!! AWESOME!!
Come to think of it, your Iron Meat alpha gameplay was the first video I saw on this channel years ago and boy if you got better at playing this game since. Take care!
i am so excited for this game i'm really impressed by it. absolutely love the morbid sense of urgency from the game's story. also i love the details in the background aren't for show and it tells the severity of an actual threat. the fact that the game is showing YOU that earth is fighting back with going on battles in the background and soldiers are helping you is really cool and awesome to watch while playing it. all of this is giving the game a personality and flavor i'm all happy and smiles from it. gotta say excellent video too!
Yeah, they've really ramped up the background animations in the latest release. There's so much going on there! Not only looks awesome, but does a great job making the battle feels larger. I love it! :)
@@CrudeBusterGiven what Konami has sadly become over the past decade, this is only likely outcome outside of a misplaced and bitchy "cease & desist" that tries to paint this as too like _Contra_ maybe. [/knock on wood]
@@CrudeBuster Heh, seeing "Contrarian" capitalized is amusing even though I see what you're getting at. I hadn't heard of either of those games though, but noted. Thanks.
@@MusicoftheDamned Geostorm is sort of an arcade style from the 90's, the pacing is like Contra Hard Corps and the player fires with weapons in both hands by default! I remember using a turbo controller to have something like that in Contra 3 since changing weapons was instant.
It definitely wears it's inspiration on it's sleeve, but that isn't a bad thing. Contra is one of the greatest action platformers and one that I still enjoy going back through its many iterations. Love the artwork, excited to see where it goes.
That intro also reminds me of Berserk, which also reminds me how there should be a Contra style game but Berserk themed with similar gameplay expect you hack and slash trough hordes of fleshy contraptions.
Инсайид инфа. Игра выйдет осенью, в сентябре-октябре, сразу на несколько актуальных платформ. Она и задержалась, только из-за того, что автор готовит игру под консоли.
I'm sure the intro animation has been made by Ian Miller That style is unmistakable and i've seen his works at a too much youger age to not be forgotten

The style of the game reminds me of an old mobile java game called "Liquidator ChNPP(Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant). I wonder if a team behind it is the same
The powerups always throw me off. M for Machinegun and S for Spread shot, sure those are straightforward enough, but B for some kind of wave machinegun? U for laser? and H for a grenade launcher? And E is some kind of projectile that splits forward on impact?
Looks great. I remember they lept back and exploded on the nes but that was the nintendo flash. If they explode into gore i would go for the initial bullet impact rather thsn falling back first. NES was abstract annihilation and that is slightly different than gory destruction.

Well between retro style indie games and the schlock triple AAA companies have made, it’s no wonder why retro aesthetics are so big
The train level looks awesome. You have meat meteors falling in the background and it looks like it foreshadows the moon.
Meateors
you know, i never expected to read meat meteors in a coherent sentence ever.
Yeah, the moon isn't looking too good in the second stage alone, and it looks even more diseased with meat in a bit of the end preview.
@@MusicoftheDamnedthe whole moon is alive
This train is really looks like russian train, i swear.
I love that the soldier @1:40 really tried to head shot the enemy.
good to see it's being fleshed out more each update, meating the expectations and surprising contrarians
8:30 a moment of silence for bro
He was transformed into a meat tentacle but even in the end
He trew you that upgrade
Rest you peace soldier 🫡
Love the way you word your titles with such continuity
The artwork here is gorgeous. And it goes into so much enemy variety too.
It's like Contra and Doom were smashed together with a hydraulic press!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!!
That intro looked like Doom, Akira, and Dead Space mashed together with a gameplay of contra influence. Should be good!
I have this suspicion that whoever animated this intro is the same guy that also made the video clip for Dead And Gone by Twiztid. Litterally the same artstyle and also meaty!
Yep, that's JamieR
i absolutely love this game. the enemies design, the mutant boss design..the train, the bus,the hind d... it has does that Contra's Vibe.
Epic late 80s, early 90s vibe. 👍 Thanks for sharing all these unique games, mate! 🫡

I've been waiting for this game for a long time... Without a doubt it will be one of the best games inspired by Contra
Yeah, it's been a long wait. It must be a time consuming process injecting every pixel with a lump of meat. :)
Watched your videos on this game and damn, it is growing along quite nicely. Just the glow-up of the tank boss is impressive on its own

Didn't Shattered Soldier have heavy metal, though?
being able to break the level clear lights is a nice little touch honestly.
