    Love the subliminal advertising for "Istanbul: Mocha & Baksheesh" at 0:18 !!

    I suspect that the reason they chose the colour silver for that section is because of the interactions with the silver platter

    The app versions of these games aren't too bad solo either. They don't have a tutorial and the rules are a little hard to read in the app at first, but once you play and figure it out it's otherwise pretty seamless.
    One thing I would maybe be interested in seeing for this series though would be to make the different colored sections be playing cards that you shuffle or draft with different mini-games on them. So in the beginning of the game you would pick one of the available mini-games for the pink die, one game for the yellow die, one for blue and so on. That would let you mix and match all the different mini-games from both games and future expansions which could really spice up the replayability.

    I don't know if I have an update version of the rules. But on page 6 under bonuses (boxes with ? in it) it says when unlocked "Then the player must immediately write down a number on a space in the color area of his choice (1-6 for green and pink, 2-12 for blue)..."
    I think it pretty clear what to do. It's all up to you to min-max your score

    Very fair review. I think with this one there are more ways to get potentially monster scores, but you have to get extremely lucky with your last few throws to get anything decent, especially in the top-left section.

    There are alternate sheets for both games in the digital versions.

    This was very clear and thoughtful. As a person who loves the first version, it helped me decide whether to buy the second game. Also helped me understand some of the rules that I read online.

    I have the first two, but I can't fathom why they don't release just the pads in the first game's colours? Thank you to BGG, I have the scoresheets which I have printed and laminated to play along with either two of the games I have 😁

    I think the silver area should've been black. A black die with gold pips looks great & black would pop up better on the scoring sheet.

    Twice as Clever but ten times more confusing!
    We were in stitches reading the Silver Rice rules and ' Attention 'because the more we re-read them, the more confused we became.
    I had no probs with Clever but have to say TaC has been badly translated from German to English. There are issued that can put a new player off ....the ? and the + for example , the + I take it to mean choose another die but looks like add one to your due score .
    Sorry, rules must be clear and hopefully they will be if there is a re-issue at some later date.
    Thanks.

    I went to a local game store to buy Ganz Schon Clever, got up to the counter, and as I was handing the cashier my card, he said "This is a really hot game right now. I hear it's even better than the original." I didn't feel like embarrassing myself by admitting I had grabbed the wrong one - or by admitting I didn't know the sequel even existed - so I bought it and pretended like it was intentional. It worked out pretty well. Having only played this one but having read the rules for the original, I think I like this one better.
    I think the reason they chose to use silver is because it's related to the silver platter.

      I know you said you're happy with your purchase and that's great, but I would suggest still trying the original. I like both versions, but I like the original version A LOT more. One of the best things about the original is that it never felt like there was a wrong choice because you always got something. This version is more punishing if the right values don't show up and you can really end up getting locked into choices.

      That's fair. I'll probably pick up the App version at some point (I ended up buying Twice as Clever that way to save on paper; I just do multiplayer with the physical copy) and see how they compare. Thanks for the recommendation.

    I think the series is fun. I just do not know how to evaluate which game in the series suits me.

    Picked this up for $1. I had played and liked the original. Glad I got this.

    I have all 3 of the Clevers and have played them a lot. Clever 1 surely was fun, but we cannot go back to that after having played the 2nd and 3rd iterations. I really love the mechanic of the silver die in Clever 2 and also the bonus to take a die back (which combo's super well with the silver die of course). Clever 3 is surely the most complex one, which is also fun but wouldn't recommend to people trying to get a quick game in. So for me personally, I'd rank the Clevers as follows 2>3>1 but even Clever 1 is very good. :)

    Now this looks more like a Kennerspiel.
    Seems like a nice sequel with interesting ideas, but I have to play the original more before getting this one.

    regarding the blue question. If you use a ?-mark symbol you write in the best possible result.

    • @PandaOfElastic
      @PandaOfElastic 5 лет назад +2

      The ? means you can write any valid value for that spot. So, in the case of blue, you're pretty much always going to write in the last number you wrote (or 12 if you have nothing there).

      Yes, that's how the app plays.

    With blue, it’s whatever you want blue to be plus whatever white actually is at the time.

    • @PandaOfElastic
      @PandaOfElastic 5 лет назад +1

      I believe this is wrong. Someone quoted the rules and it specifically says to choose a number 2-12 for blue.

    I would have given a - for the aestetics. If you plan on playing it solo I would recommend the app, it's only 3€ and it works great :)

    Pad would be selled for 9.95$ and the game is sold 15.95, so I think you have your money's worth.
