I also got an insane 5900 hours out of my original bulb, with a very noticeable dim after about 4k, Replacement has been sitting in my closet for 8 months because i got it at the recommended time. And yes! Always go OEM or extremely high rep reseller, not worth breaking a projector this well built.

Optoma projector has a solid red light and a flashing orange light. Is that to mean that I need to replace my bulb? Also, would you recommend replacing the entire unit or just the bulb? Last, where would you recommend the purchase of one?

I've had 2 projectors and still have not had to change a bulb. good to know that it is fairly easy to do.

I Have a optima projector ,and the bulb didn't die but the color glass has shattered, do I replace the whole bulb or can I buy just the color glass?

I know you're not a mind reader but here is my Question:
I recently replaced my bulb with one that I bought on line but am still getting the same amber & or red lights. Is it safe to assume that this replacement bulb is defective? Or could I have bigger problems?

We've had trouble with our rear projection tvs. After about 2 years the original bulb died. So, we ordered a new bulb and replaced it. It lasted under a year. We went to order another and, after a bit of research, we found out there are "original" and "replacement" class bulbs that you can order. The "original" bulbs last 2-3 times as long than a "replacement" bulb and the one we got was only about $30 more.

I was gifted a Optoma EP761 and the projector shows white dots on the screen. My question is are all bulbs for optoma projectors universal or is the bulb for my model unique?

I know it's 10 months late but maybe someone has the same question you do. But no, bulbs are not universal. Check the optoma website for the bulb part number.

What about just buying the actual bulb. And placing that into the original assembly where the bulb sits in? More work but to my knowledge cheaper?

Anyone know a reputable company to buy quality lamp replacement? Optoma HD72 lamps are $379 and out of stock.

i have a used 42" Projector TV. when i had it the color wheel is burned a little and had a green tint on parts of the monitor. then finally the Ballast for the projector lamp when bad :'( now i am saving up 4k monitor or a 40" 1080p60 TV.
